I sympathize. So, I recommend that you bring this suggestion about seeds or saplings for Glow Fibers up with Neo, the author of Craftable Seeds . He has already added seeds for several vanilla plants that were previously un-growable, like tiny edible Mushrooms and even the giant Glow Mushroom Trees (which drop glow pods on breaking). And he has made saplings for fruit trees craftable from the fruit itself.
Am I using a mod which conflicts with this? I've been using Frack'n Universe and a whole lot of others.

That's too easy to exploit and I may have to uninstall. For balance, I think they should not drop glow fiber, but you should add a recipe to the Foraging Table to convert your glow vine drop into glow fiber. Either that, or a recipe to convert glow fiber into a placeable glow vine. That way, players can use them one way or the other.
