It dug out the Hive Core in normal mode for me. But I've made a personal copy that I've patched so it doesn't do it anymore.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 24. feb. kl. 10:34
Yes in OP mode it's super OP.
mxforlife 7. feb. kl. 12:34
I discovered that this will dig out the Hive Core without touching it's hard resin shell. Not sure if that is intentional or not.
Checked the code and saw it digs up to hardness 500 where the normal Auto Excavator only digs up to hardness 250. Is it to be able to clear T4 ore that is 450 or is it for Fuild Magma that is 500?

Understood
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 4. jan. kl. 8:46
I'd rather you didn't. The point of this is use it how you want, use OP mode or not, it's up to you. Adding limits TO this is personal. Feel free to use your tweaked version but please don't reupload my work.
Pokeking 29. dec. 2024 kl. 15:14
Requesting permission to upload a variant more in line with the vanilla excavator to the workshop. ie dig radius limited to 9, range limited to 512, and no cryo clear or SuperOP mode.

I have tested and used it a fair amount already to ensure no bugs.
Taco 27. dec. 2023 kl. 8:09
So, how do I adjust the range on a tkl keyboard and thus have no numberpad? I have to get my controller and map those buttons to the controller just for the second or two I need to set up this excavator, it'd be really nice to be able to change those numpad mappings to something else.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 13. apr. 2023 kl. 13:10
Version 11!

Added new mode "ClearCryo" because once you battle one cryo spawner, 7 more is just too many. This mode ONLY clears cryo (and...uh maybe resin) and leaves everything else and costs 3 times more power then the power-per-ore setting which is 80 by default. So 240 power per block.

Due to this potential increase in power consumption, the default power stored in the block is now 1600.

Also added ALT key modifiers to radius and height adjustments allowing for +/- 100 increments.

I might be able to get the hot-keys for functions to be mapped via config if people still want that.

Kind of hard to set hight when I no longer have keypad on my kb.
999999999BlackHole 22. okt. 2020 kl. 1:57
this works very well :D, gonna create a big flat creater soon
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 2. feb. 2020 kl. 19:35
Adjust settings without issue, dig resets when it's settings change.
Esméa Tuek 1. feb. 2020 kl. 11:49
any chance of getting an on/off function with this? It would be nice to be able to safely place it in an already powered position and have time to adjust the settings before it goes to work :)
Fireshot 21. dec. 2019 kl. 11:12
Ahhh just what I needed to help clear out enough room for the Magma bore deployment :D
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 27. okt. 2019 kl. 21:09
Server syncing is really bad in this game in general. So many bugs in vanilla, easy to imagine those same bugs with modded machines. I tried to keep everything sync'd, but there's literally zero information/details on how it works.
brehmluke 26. okt. 2019 kl. 23:18
Wonderful mod!
I noticed the GUI doesn't update in a dedicated server, it just stays at 0%
I spent like 30 minutes trying to get it to start digging before realizing it had been digging beneath my cosmetic floor the whole time :steamfacepalm:
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 1. juli 2019 kl. 23:07
Don't use "Clear All"
Stinosko 25. juni 2019 kl. 8:17
I think that's not intentional...
AJ213 24. juni 2019 kl. 16:11
Apparently it just straight up kills hive minds. I don't know if i like this feature at all.
Tonatsi 29. apr. 2019 kl. 13:42
Best mod ever.
The ability to dig down is so good.
evilenterprizez 4. apr. 2019 kl. 16:41
Of course. I should uncover a lot from the mountain. Thx for the quick response.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 4. apr. 2019 kl. 13:08
I would strongly recommend you not have this dropping items, especially when clearing large areas. Find a good coal vein and use that for your construction paste :)
evilenterprizez 4. apr. 2019 kl. 3:10
P.S I'm using Construction Paste Rebalanced. I loaded without it, and it still happens
evilenterprizez 4. apr. 2019 kl. 2:57
@ Flexible Games. I'm using this mod, and it's great. I cleared the bottom two layers of the mountain next to my base, and set up a network of vacuum hoppers and conveyors to feed the rest into a cp grinder setup with H.E.I.S.T. But the grinders aren't accepting the garbage. Assume my hopper settings are correct. I know it isn't your mod. If you've had the same problem, do you know a fix?
OPT1K5 11. jan. 2019 kl. 9:20
You would have an option to toggle work area. The past builder mod has an option that hides area when working.
It would be nice to be able to turn off the visible area once you have set it up especially when clearing one large area.
Teemo 9. jan. 2019 kl. 12:42
No idea how far it's dug, also don't know when it's done scanning, and don't hear pew pew sounds :/
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 5. jan. 2019 kl. 23:36
I could add hiding of area... then how would you know what is going to be cleared? :)
OPT1K5 4. jan. 2019 kl. 5:11
Sorry for the double post, I just installed the Paste Builder mod.
It has an option to hide the selected area, could this funtionality be built into the mod?
It would be a nice addition to a great mod.
OPT1K5 4. jan. 2019 kl. 5:09
Yeah i just made that mistake too.
Clear all i assumed was or plus garbage, i just red that clear ore does ore plus garbage.
Lesson learned i guess :P

Crawffee Katt 1. jan. 2019 kl. 17:46
Hello, I really find your mod very useful, but I have a problem, I dont have numpad so I can't change the height limit, how can I change the key bindings?? also have the latin american keyboard layout.
12AngrySheep 21. dec. 2018 kl. 9:57
It was. I just didn't realize it could do that. My comment was mostly a word to the wise. The hive I killed was in a sweet position to farm near my base, and I unknowingly hacked it to pieces. Didn't realize the excavator even could target the hivemind. I guess the "All" should have been a clue, but it was leaving the resin so I assumed the hivemind was safe, too.

Mistake was totally on me. I'd never used it near a hive before. The mod works amazingly. Nice job adding the different directions. Helps a ton.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 20. dec. 2018 kl. 23:07
Was it on clear all?
I know I have a special catch in there to NOT take out that block.
12AngrySheep 20. dec. 2018 kl. 3:23
Just a heads up for any interested. Not sure if intended or bug, but this thing can kill a hivemind. It will not clear their resin shell, but it will somehow zap the hivemind itself. I was using one to clear the terrain around one I intended to put in a box and farm.

Now I have a nice square hole and no hive. Not complaining. It dug a beautiful hole.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 2. dec. 2018 kl. 16:12
Lets run some numbers for a second. The maxs are 1024 for radius, 2048 for height.
So lets assume the entire volume is full of blocks, ie no air. That's 2049x2049x2048 blocks, or 8,598,325,248 total blocks.
Overclocked can take 20 bpt = 429,916,262 ticks = 85,983,252 seconds = 1,433,054 minutes = 23,884 hours = 995 days = 2.73 YEARS to clear the volume if the game runs 24/7 year round.

I think the max radius and height are just fine.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 2. dec. 2018 kl. 15:52
The overclock setting is meant as a sort of cheat, using it by its very nature is cheating. This is why it's only mentioned above and not in-game. If cheat is too strong a word, then 'easter egg' might fit better.

One could argue that instead of one machine doing 20 blocks per tick, use 4 machines to achieve the same goal, the logistics are the same.
DoubleStyx 2. dec. 2018 kl. 7:56
Alright, thanks for the reply.

I'm just looking for is a way to get the overclock setting to follow the XML power-per-block rules. My overclock setting is maxed at 20 blocks per tick, and my power-per-block setting is 200 (10 ppb x 20 blocks per tick). Can you reconfigure the overclock to follow the XML rules? It'd be nice to have to feed 1000 pps (or more/less) into the excavator for it to run at full speed, as an added challenge.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 1. dec. 2018 kl. 19:46
1. Never had an issue holding down the keys to go up/down 10, has always been fast enough. What's another 4 seconds or so?
2. Those are in there for game-performance reasons. Setting these values too high will cause the game to even more constantly swap out the loaded segments. Also, even with overclocking on, extreme values in either of these directions would take the machine weeks of real time to complete the task. Need a bigger volume? Use more than one excavator.
3. In addition to #2 covering this, included in why is this isn't a good idea is on dedicated servers. Overclocking the excavator would, quite simply, be too much for the server to keep up with and thus cause HUGE issues.
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 1. dec. 2018 kl. 19:46
I understand an individuals desire for feature x or y, but I have to try to make it work for the playstyles of 5000 people while not making it so complex that it because less-user friendly or accessible.

I understand there is a bug with overclocking and resetting width/height. But overclocking mode is not meant for HUGE jobs as the drain on the game is quite substantial. Place block, set options, add power. XML config is there if you need to use the same options many many times; like clearing the cold caves.
DoubleStyx 1. dec. 2018 kl. 16:06
I've been using your mod for a long time, and it's one of my favorite mods in FCE. I just have some suggestions:

1. Can you add the ability to use Ctrl to increase height or radius by 100?
2. Can you remove the restrictions on the XML config? There are times when I want to change the excavator settings to above the maximum, but I am unable to do so.
3. Can you remove the overclock and make it the default excavator behavior? The overclock feature doesn't use the XML settings in the mod folder. The excavator also doesn't rescan for blocks when an excavator setting (height, radius, etc.) is changed while overclock is active. It would be nice if all of the XML settings (including the blocks per tick setting) affected the core Mk2 Excavator.
thejclass 27. nov. 2018 kl. 9:17
oh ok makes sense as i have a lot of mods running on my game:steamhappy:
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 25. nov. 2018 kl. 20:02
I know the mod works, I know it does what it's told to do, something unique on your game is causing the malfunction. ANY mod that makes stuff craftable that wouldn't normally be craftable (I.E. stone) will cause garbage clearing to misbehave as it checks for IsCraftable()
thejclass 20. nov. 2018 kl. 10:53
hi, i got the escavator to work now but wont clear garbage if i set it to cleargarbage
:steamsad:
thejclass 20. nov. 2018 kl. 10:01
hi there , downloaded your mod , installed it , shows on my mod list int the game and i started a fresh world and slected the mod to be active in this world but it does not apper in my craft menu when i enter the world, any recomendations?
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 6. nov. 2018 kl. 16:13
No, there's a mod that adds a recipe for every item in the game, even rocks and ore. That mod is the reason the "Clear Everything" option exists.
Titan 6. nov. 2018 kl. 14:37
Hmmm So like that one mod that changes the amounts of items needed in construction? I'm sorry if I seem silly with my questions, but this item used to be my go to mod. But now it just does not work the same for me.
If it helps for figuring things out, the only mods I have are one's from you and tricky I think, that one for the hoppers? Would it help if I made a mod list or something?
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 6. nov. 2018 kl. 13:21
Then you must have another mod installed that changes the blocks. Something you are using adds recipes for all the blocks. That's the only way that function would work while the others do not.
Titan 5. nov. 2018 kl. 21:39
But I did that and it just stops clearing anything untill I tell it to clear all, then it starts clearing stuff. If I set it to garbage or ore, it just scans the blocks and then shuts down without clearing anything
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 5. nov. 2018 kl. 16:09
There's a key you need to hit to cycle the types of blocks it will clear.
Titan 5. nov. 2018 kl. 10:20
I've run into....a bug I guess, or I may just be derping. The machine will not clear anything except for ALL. Not just garbage, not just ore, everything
Flexible Games  [ophavsmand] 12. okt. 2018 kl. 16:34
I've found for those lasers though, you still have to travel down the path to place more lasers. Much easier to do this while digging, then trying to do it in a place with no where to stand.
