Nice fun map! Thanks!

Brilliant, thanks

To the last commenter:

You seem to be complaining about puzzle mechanics. I can't know what you're referring to since I made this level 4 years ago and haven't been able to update it since because of some bug in the workshop system. There may be slightly broken elements in this puzzle but it should be nothing severe.

But it seems to me that some of the things you find as flaws are actual mechanics of the puzzle. This one requires some outside-the-box thinking, especially with the light bridge mechanics. I'd like to encourage you to try the level again with a bit more patience.

This is just fkn bullshit piece of sh**... It's simply broken.
One Laser, one lightbridge, 3 force fields stacked. It's fair enough until you enabled the switch in the "locked in" room, but after that it just is fkn broken and there is no way out of it. Can't get anywhere...
Using the weird as fk jumper that throws u into the hole (which just happens to be blocked by the light bridge) never works and if it does there's still no way out coz it never gets u high enough for u to possibly get a shot across the 3 stacked fields on the angled surface, which would get u further but alas... It's broken as hell and should be removed or restructured so there is actually a way to work this.

Amazing puzzle.

Thanks you! I've had no problems with the light bridge timing but I've tried fixing it along with a lot of other problems too. Unfortunately somehow the game wants to publish the update as a separate chamber. So I haven't been able to fix it yet. :(

I admire your work. The stairways formed by the light bridges were brilliant.I do have some sugestions. The most important is that the timer in the last chamber is too short! I tried several times to get across it. If you don't jump the whole way, you can't make it. (I was convinced that I had overlooked something.) The second is that using the "Thrower" on the light bridge in the second chamber to pop you up high enough to open a portal is a coordination exercise and not a puzzle. Thanks for putting this puzzle together.
SophtBawl 31 May, 2012 @ 12:12pm
@Stric, thx, i thought about that but i did not execute it right i huess, because i landed on the jumpad in the hole (by walking backwards). Now walking forward it worked.

I already have a fix for the weird light bridge in the second chamber. Unfortuantely I ran into some problems with publishing the update. The game wants to publish it as a whole new map and says that a chamber with that name already exists. I have no idea how to fix it and probably will try something soon. I don't want to release it as a new submission.

Great level, but I agree with the remarks about the ''unnatural'' feel of the light bridge becoming permanent as soon as you hit the receptacle once with it, even if you erase the portals after. Could instead lead to a tiny room with a button that makes the bridge permanent, like someone suggested.

@WesleyPipez: if you managed to get to the jump-pad on the wall, remember that you somehow gotta get a portal across to the other side, to the slanted panels that the laser cube raises. And the only way to do that is to utilize height and pad-jumping....

SophtBawl 30 May, 2012 @ 6:17pm
Too difficult for me it seems. I cant get past the first chamber. I build a lightbridge to walk up the jump-pad on the wall, but that is as far as i can get. If someone makes a video or has a clue for me, please send me a message. Thx

Not a bad map, I liked the unconventional ways I was to use light bridges. However, the second segment had exploits, like the one in Leonard's screenshots.
edeslash  [author] 25 May, 2012 @ 4:04am
Yes, Boomer. I'll update the map soon to tweak and fix some things and make it more obvious that the second bridge is permanent once you activate it.
Karl Marx's Das 2TC Kapital 24 May, 2012 @ 11:17pm
Great map, but what was the laser used for in the second part? Did it activate the second light bridge permanently?
Raccio14 24 May, 2012 @ 7:10pm
Leonhard Euler pretty much summed it up. aside from those very small things that could probably be improved in a minor update, I think it was a brilliant level!
Le Petit Mort 23 May, 2012 @ 5:20pm
Great stuff with light-bridges here, keep up the good work!
snackerfork 23 May, 2012 @ 4:20pm
I really loved getting the reflector cube. It felt like I was breaking the level even though I wasn't, which I think is the ideal feeling in a Portal level

Another favorite of mine :) Excellent work!
RJU690 22 May, 2012 @ 8:42pm
I think the concept is very clever, but the layout seemed confusing and needlessly complex.
Leonhard Euler 22 May, 2012 @ 7:21pm
Suggestions: Using a pressure pad for releasing the sphere instead of a small button feels unnatural. Pressure pads work better for things you "keep on or off".

Similarly with the laser receiver that activates the last bridge; it feels weird for it to be a one-time switch-on of the bridge and I was very surprised when the bridge remained after the laser was removed. Perhaps a better approach would be to have the laser receptacle open a small door to a small portalless room with a button that turns on the bridge.

Finally, just fyi, this is possible
when I suspect you actually intended this

But great map 9.9/10, did play again.

Spaggbol 21 May, 2012 @ 7:34pm
Headache, good chellanging map loved it
edeslash  [author] 21 May, 2012 @ 11:48am
Thanks, Braindamage! After watching Western_freak and some others play the chamber I've decided to somehow make the cube more visible. Earlier the button which gives you the ball was a cube button which made it more obvious that there's got to be a cube somewhere. I might think of changing that too.
Mog 21 May, 2012 @ 8:50am
I've gotta say I enjoyed the first floor a lot more than the second. I was dicking about for quite a while before I found the path up the the reflector cube (like vmaikel i ended up putting the sphere on its button without first destroying the turret) dunno if that's just my stupidity or if there should be something more to draw the player's attention there.

Anyway, some creative use of light bridges here, I'd just like to see it taken a bit further (light bridges in conjunction with other puzzle elements etc.).
Maxpm 20 May, 2012 @ 6:24pm
Superb map. I love the use of light bridges as stairs.
edeslash  [author] 20 May, 2012 @ 3:16am
That should be pretty easy to fix. Thank you.
vmaikel 20 May, 2012 @ 3:05am
Yes, i used the edgeless safety cube as a shield.
edeslash  [author] 20 May, 2012 @ 2:58am
There is lethal weaponry in the turret's room for a reason. It just needs something to be utilized. Did you get it there without destroying it?
vmaikel 20 May, 2012 @ 2:45am
Nice map, but are you supposed to get the edgeless safety cube on the sphere button without destroying the turret?
Phaaze 19 May, 2012 @ 4:53pm
IMO your best one yet. *thumbs up*
Heyu 19 May, 2012 @ 2:15pm
Yes! I really liked this one. No complaints from me.
Xamy 19 May, 2012 @ 6:38am
Not bad. Not very hard, but not bad. The difficult part was to time the first portal jump.

Keep it up!
edeslash  [author] 19 May, 2012 @ 1:16am
Press the subscribe button and the chamber will appear in your game in the community test chambers.
R3F 18 May, 2012 @ 10:44pm
How do I aly it? I asked for it to be downloaded to me but I have not got a clue how to work thfrough this minefield?
Devasta 18 May, 2012 @ 11:06am
All my hate. Still an extremly well crafted map with really interesting puzzles. Bittersweet experience.
edeslash  [author] 18 May, 2012 @ 10:25am
Updated; fixed a couple of exploits and made the first chamber a bit more intuitive.
