steveman0's Mass Storage Stockpiler

Honestly it sounds more complicated than having static values for the stocking points and it is fairly rare to have a need to expand mass storage after setting it up that it doesn't seem all that useful compared to the added complexity.

The problem with this that I see, is can one stockpiler even see the other stockpilers attached to a given mass storage so that the ratios can be calculated? Not to mention what happens if you mix these with vanilla interfaces, but that would be user beware.
Timeslice 6 Aug, 2018 @ 6:08am
Ratios would mean that, for example: If a copper port was set to 1, tin to 2, and iron to 1, then for every one copper there would be two tin and one iron. This would be for maximums, not current values. So, in this example, if I had a mass storage that held 400 items, the copper port would say it was holding "x/100" items (where x is the actual number of copper in storage), the tin would say "x/200", and the iron would say "x/100". If I simultaneously added 600 more storage, and a lithium port set to a ratio of 1, then it would be copper x/200, tin x/400, iron x/200, and lithium x/200 - without having to change any of the other inputs.

Yes. That way when storage is expanded, you don't have to re-configure all of the ports' stocking values to being using the expanded storage space. Technically, specifying a weighted value/ratio would be better than percentages, as then you could add more inputs without having to reconfigure all of the others, but far fewer people would understand that as compared to percentages. Although, ratios would be easier to code for, as you don't have to validate them, as opposed to making sure the inputs aren't set to a total of something higher than 100% when using percentages.
steveman0  [author] 5 Aug, 2018 @ 6:45pm
The mod is no longer supported as it is in the base game. What do you mean by percentages? Of total storage?
Timeslice 5 Aug, 2018 @ 12:11pm
Maybe revive this mod but add percentages rather than flat values to the UI?
steveman0  [author] 5 Feb, 2018 @ 9:11am
There isn't much of a difference though the vanilla one has a few fixes and additional polish. I only keep this here for anyone who is stuck on P15-frozen due to not having Dx11. If you're on the latest patch this mod is redundant.
TomasVaner 5 Feb, 2018 @ 6:17am
What is difference from vanilla? is not it how it works now?
steveman0  [author] 29 Jun, 2017 @ 12:45pm
Yeah, I'm tempted to find a way to block search results for those entries so that there can't be any confusion on the matter. Probably would be for the stocking port only.
Nildayan 28 Jun, 2017 @ 10:41pm
Ah ha! Belay my last. I just Read The Fine Manual and found your entry on searching for "component." It works for me, now. PEBKAC. :D
Nildayan 28 Jun, 2017 @ 10:36pm
FWIW, I was just typing with simtropbuggi, and he pointed out that the difference between the T4 Power Storage and Mk4 Battery Component is that one is the entity and one is the component. If your Stockpiler is checking for the assembled entity in the mass storage, then it would never find them. I hope that helps!
Nildayan 28 Jun, 2017 @ 9:57pm
I found that I have over 400 T4 Power Storage blocks, because the item identifies itself as the Mk4 Battery Component. :\ I set a Stockpiler limit of 54, so 400 is a little past that. ;)

I found the same issue for the Induction Charger, though I don't remember how that one shows up off the top of my head. If you need it, I can track it down for you.

Thanks! I love the mod! :D
steveman0  [author] 16 Jun, 2017 @ 8:12pm
This is vanilla behavior. I have no intention of deviating especially since this is in vanilla next patch.
NoTruePunk 16 Jun, 2017 @ 6:35pm
Doesn't extract items from hoppers. Needs an intermediary tube, conveyor or motorized conveyor to work
steveman0  [author] 25 Feb, 2017 @ 10:41pm
Yep, the mod still works in patch 16 and 17 and is anticipated to work for many patches beyond so there's no rush to swap over.
captainwolfs 25 Feb, 2017 @ 8:13pm
I know this mod will get added in patch 17, but does it work for patch 16?
steveman0  [author] 20 Feb, 2017 @ 11:21am
The mod itself is no longer supported. The code has been merged in with vanilla as of the upcoming patch 17. I do not intend to add an IO equivalent. Mk3 ports are sufficiently fast if you keep your storage a reasonable size.
DirtyCamper 20 Feb, 2017 @ 11:13am
I am so going to use this, once it is in stable :-). But please add an I/O port variant...
So I can just put a fabrication plant next to it :-).
obsiana 4 Feb, 2017 @ 7:08am
Apparently not -) i will take a look.
steveman0  [author] 4 Feb, 2017 @ 7:05am
Did you read the handbook entry?
obsiana 4 Feb, 2017 @ 1:14am
oh you mean i must search for multibock select inductioncharger and then set the count to 1 for 25 pices?
steveman0  [author] 3 Feb, 2017 @ 6:12pm
It can, you just need to either drag the item in manually or follow the instructions for multiblock components.
obsiana 3 Feb, 2017 @ 12:58pm
Possible Bug found, the mk1 Stockpiler can´t count inductioncharger.
steveman0  [author] 28 Jan, 2017 @ 6:47am
Newworld build? I can give a test but this would be the first report. What size storage? How many other ports?
steveman0  [author] 26 Jan, 2017 @ 6:52pm
Sorry, multiblock component pieces are special so they don't show up under the normal search. Search for "multi" or "component" to get a list of them. I've updated the handbook entry to reflect this.
fireblade 26 Jan, 2017 @ 5:35am
I cant get the search to find "jet turbine generator housings" or "jet turbine generator intake"
it only ever finds unknown "jet turbine generator"
steveman0  [author] 15 Dec, 2016 @ 12:46pm
That can be accomplished with the right setup using freight carts by building a buffer storage. It'd be quite a lot of work to merge this code into an output port so I don't see it winning out over other priorities.
PrairForMercy 15 Dec, 2016 @ 7:52am
hey awesome mod just like youre others, possible could you make a output version of this mod.
like only allow output if item has higher number in the massstorage. that would rock
Stockdoodle 11 Dec, 2016 @ 11:16am
As soon as I made that comment, it started working perfectly, but thanks for looking into it so quickly.
steveman0  [author] 11 Dec, 2016 @ 7:55am
I found a potential problem with the vanilla code that could allow this situation. I've sent a little fix to DJ that could help prevent this in the future regardless of the source.
steveman0  [author] 11 Dec, 2016 @ 7:41am
I double checked my code, this particular machine has a catch to prevent this kind of lockup. If there's a reason why the window would get stuck it closes it and returns control to the player.
steveman0  [author] 11 Dec, 2016 @ 6:57am
Is this the only mod you have installed? This sounds like it might be a conflict with another mod.
Stockdoodle 11 Dec, 2016 @ 5:58am
I'm having UI issues with this mod. Sometimes when I hit E to configure it, the UI window won't appear, but the mouse cursor will show up. I can't escape out (just brings up the main menu). The only thing I'm able to do is quit & reload.

Works great and solved my logistic problem, thank you !

This is about the only video I have posted. I've been meaning to put together more specific videos for each machine but haven't gotten around to it. Been busy addressing the last bugs to squash with my freight junctions.

Great mods by the way. I'll be showing them in my series, do you have a YouTube channel I can send people to if they need tutorials?
steveman0  [author] 6 Aug, 2016 @ 9:20pm
The port tiers carry exactly the same counts as vanilla: 5, 12, and 25. They have internal inventories so they can batch collect rather than waiting to load all of the items for transfer so they have a small gain in efficiency but nothing too major compared to a vanilla port that has a sorted input.

The Mk3 stockpiler requires a bulk input port plus extra so cost-wise they are very similar. The extra cost of course goes to the small efficiency boost and stock limit benefits.
kraysellz 6 Aug, 2016 @ 8:28pm
How many mk do you have? I only saw you have one input and one output port type. It carries 25 at once right? It also can take 25 of anything at once? Isn't that much better than the bulk (mk3) vanilla one? bulk needs
4 light weight housing
90 gear
4 mk1 power
16 copper wire
8 mk2 power
4 mk3 power
4 advanced block

steveman0  [author] 31 Jul, 2016 @ 12:21pm
What? They require their vanilla counterparts + extra. What isn't balanced about it? The mk1 port is like 50% more expensive than the vanilla port in raw mats.
kraysellz 31 Jul, 2016 @ 11:36am
btw you should of made the matertials required the same as the original for balance purposes. the mats required for these are way too common and easy to get. basically free.
