You know, at least with Tidehunter wearing a pirate's hat, I can write that off as him wearing the booty of the last ship he ravaged. Hell, he stole Kunkka's Anchor and uses it as a weapon in this game.

"Someone has taken the sail of a pirate ship and crudely sewn it into a mockery of a pirate's tricorn."
Don't ask me why is has an official description if it's not in game yet.

I think this could be both cool looking and more fitting it was far more realistic, rather than cartoony in appearance. Right now, it looks like it should be a humorous item, rather than something that tide hunter would have pried off of a dead enemy at sea or something. That said, I'm not up to snuff on a lot of my DOTA lore so maybe this just doesn't fit at all.
