Fun chamber to run across. Always brings joy seeing a DVEN1 comment god rest his soul.

Pedantic, too short, and not enough to do with the laser.

This one is nice and feels like something you would acctuly find in an offical map.

Dummy here. I sucked up all the turrets and debris including the "hidden" one and then the loose tiles on the corridor wall and then aimed the lazer at everything I could find. Nothing happens. If I go into the room beyond the door I get stuck in there. What am I doing wrong?
Petutski 13 Apr, 2015 @ 4:27pm
Nicely done, but too short!

more fun than it has any right to be :P yes it's simple and the vent is used for the same purpose as it is in all the maps that use it but it's still fun to see the turrets be sucked into it while crying out in their adorable voices. nice extra touch with the X too
SophtBawl 13 Jun, 2013 @ 1:53pm
that was very short, but cool tho

Great fun.Well done.

I had to replay the game since I had not seen how the lazer cuts the tiles. Awesome scene :)

Difficulty 3/10
Fun 5/10

Simple use of one mechanic.

Actually, yes. The turret was added to discourage going Rambo on the group of turrets. I had some complaints about how the vent wasn't integral to disposing of the turrets when originally released, so I added that one to cause pause.
wildgoosespeeder 29 May, 2012 @ 3:23pm
...to frustrate? It's intended purpose is to frustrate? There are better ways to coax a player to look up you know; like one that doesn't have deadly consequences if they don't react fast enough if they make a mistake. That penalizes the player. It doesn't give the "A-HA" moment initially. Initially it gives frustration.

It's your map. I just hate it when maps have death traps around every corner. Portal 2 just isn't a defense game.
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 27 May, 2012 @ 10:02pm
The game is what you make it.
The turret was placed right for its intended purpose. People don't look up.
wildgoosespeeder 27 May, 2012 @ 9:24pm
When I was focused on how to redirect the laser, I had no idea where the gunfire was coming from. I thought I missed a turret from the bunch I already sucked up. 3 seconds later, I found out where it was hiding and I was trying desperately to get the turret before the last second I would be killed. Too late. Not cool. This is a puzzle game, not a stealth game (or something). Turrets are OK when placed right.
FOXINGTON 27 May, 2012 @ 7:51am
I would hardly call a turret with a giant laser sight and a funny voice a QTE.

not to mention you have like 5 seconds to simply walk backwards
wildgoosespeeder 25 May, 2012 @ 8:20pm
I mean when I thought the coast was clear, it wasn't. I got shot from what appeared out of nowhere. Quick time events suck, especially deadly ones.
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 25 May, 2012 @ 8:15pm
He knocked his buddy off into the vent. So, poor lone turret? HA!
Nefnoj 25 May, 2012 @ 7:59pm
Yeah, it is pretty sad, isn't it? Poor guy, all alone.
wildgoosespeeder 25 May, 2012 @ 5:01pm
The lone turret was a bunch of crap. I hate maps that do that.
Nefnoj 23 May, 2012 @ 2:38pm
That's why I made a big pile o' them!

Do I get any honorable mention for doing so? Or maybe a virtual high-five, or virtual cupcake or something? I certainly wouldn't mind a high-five.
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 22 May, 2012 @ 10:11pm
I didn't remove the possibility to go Rambo on the turrets. But sucking them up is more fun. Particulary when you clog the vent with tiles and the turrets are stuck going "ERROR. AHHHHHHHH!"

Rand0mNumbers  [author] 20 May, 2012 @ 2:33am
Right...big issue there. Uhm...I'll get on it once my dev machine is accessible again.
Nefnoj 19 May, 2012 @ 11:54am
I still say that this is my favorite out of all your maps, even though it was really easy, and could be done without use of the vent thingy.

Oh, and if your cube gets sucked in, you'll never see it again.
Wolf bytes 18 May, 2012 @ 3:32pm
Awesome, can't wait to see more of your levels!
Nefnoj 16 May, 2012 @ 6:31pm
This was really really fun for me. Heheheh. I love this. Heheheheheh.
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 14 May, 2012 @ 12:28am
It can be difficult to come up with puzzles using them.
Le Petit Mort 13 May, 2012 @ 8:06pm
Every map I've seen the PDV in hasn't utilized in an interesting way, making it apparent why Valve abandoned the object.
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 13 May, 2012 @ 12:59pm
I had considered putting elevators in prior to rerelease, but decided against it. Why? I wanted to show a progression of my maps from start to end. Map Pack 1 consists of my first foray into Portal 2 mapping whereas Map Pack 4 is my latest and shows me getting my act together.

And I agree, the map was rather dull. I spent about 2 days on the map with one spent solely on getting the breaking wall to work like Valve's video. Also, at the time, I didn't know if diversity vents were possible. So, I was riding the wave of "I can do it!!!!" when I originally released the map.
Portalized 13 May, 2012 @ 5:59am
This was pretty dull - you should have made more of a map before downloading. And starting and ending with no elevators - needs work.
DannyVFilms 12 May, 2012 @ 6:40pm
Hope you get to upload them here. You and that guy from 12 angry tests should work together.
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 12 May, 2012 @ 6:33pm
They have yet to be uploaded here.
DannyVFilms 12 May, 2012 @ 6:29pm
Really? Where?
Rand0mNumbers  [author] 12 May, 2012 @ 6:08pm
They aren't the easiest thing to use. That said, I think I have a couple more maps with them.
DannyVFilms 12 May, 2012 @ 6:02pm
NIce use of the Pneumatic Diversity Vent. I wish VALVe actually put that into Portal 2. Could you make more maps with it?
