okay, its been out for a few days now, but if you're interested in a light-armored variant of the Artemis and haven't seen it yet, there is now a light-armored and updated version known as the Type C-L; it's 55 Tonnes lighter and has 2 extra oxygen generators. if you're looking to use energy shields on any aircraft, the light ones are probably the best ones to use.

nice, my personal favorite and the fighter we have adopted for our corporation is the Icarus, as like you said, Jack of all trades. It has proven itself many, many times in battle and is one of the better fighters out there. You deserve to be on the front page with these awesome, futuristic fighters.

yeah, Ravenclaws were designed with the idea of slow, robust gunships with more varying attack angles, hence the turrets. but at the same time, i found the airframe to be less pleasing aesthetically, and I hadn't really built a heavier fighter. the Artemis was suppose to be the heavy end of the spectrum, embodying that heavy, robust fighter. meanwhile, the Icarus is suppose to play the jack of all trades, being capable in most roles interchangably, and the Archer being a cheaper alternative to dogfighting.

on a side note, i have developed a "Type C" Variant of the Artemis, painted in red, which features enhanced oxygen and acceleration in exchange for added weight.

It does good for heavy ari support when you are pinned down, me and my friends play on our server and we are in the middle of a war between our corporations, so I tried to find the perfect fighter to replace all the other ones we had made. I came across the Raven and the Icarus and fell in love, the raven is good for CAS and covering our evac choppers. Im goign to assume you are using them for CAS and/or heavy bombing of targets becuase from what I have seen, they are perfect for those two jobs, but not much else. Which is sad, becuase I love the color scheme. The enemy knows they are in for a fight when they see the big yellow birds flyign low across the horizon.

yeah, i've always viewed these aircraft as sortie-based aircraft, so that's pretty much in line with what i had thought. unfortunately, i have no idea how long a sortie would last, so they're stocked with 10K ice by default (if i remember correctly).

currently i'm looking into ways to make the artemis accelerate faster, and depending on how drastic the change is it may be uploaded as something different altogether. as it stands, the artemis is the slowest aircraft made to date (even slower than the prototypes not published), which is not good given its role.

I was playing in suvival, the heavier, larger ships are somewhat sluggish when fully loaded but I took out most of the ice when I went on runs with my friends down to about 1k in each generator. It seemed to perform very well on short, controlled runs. These are the type of ship you would deploy from a mountaintop hangar for planned and coordinated attacks. If you are stuck in extended dogfighting I would retreat and hold them back under the cover of your own air defence, once you take that ice out it drops the fuel time to about 12 minutes, so you have some time. Well, hope this helps.

@Dipstick, thanks, it does help, but i also need one more bit of information: was this in survival or Creative mode?

all the designs that i've made perform considerably differently in survival and creative due to the immense mass increase from Ice storage and hydrogen deprivation. the upcoming "Impact" Interceptor is a great example, where it has potentially 3x more acceleration in creative as there is not enough oxygen generators to supply it for full power (still something i'm working on). the mass increase by ice storage generally sits at somewhere between 20 tonnes to 30 tonnes, and therefore is considerable to aircraft acceleration and mobility.

with that said, now that i know that tid bit of information i'll look into the two designs and hopefully use them to reinforce future designs.

I was flying them around for a few hours after I posted that and I found some other cool little things, the Icarus Type CX Heavy Fighter was the best for air superiortity and the Archer was best for ambushes and guerilla tactics, hope that helps.

@Dipstick, thanks for letting me know, that'll help me set a basis for armoring new fighters. also, since these don't get much publicity, they're kinda like the dark side of the workshop in their own way and i like that haha

as far as rocket launchers and gats go, that's always been part of the design plan and i'm happy to see people like yourself who actually modify them in that way. even non-vanilla mods too, though i don't think these planes are spacious enough to accomodate them.

there'll be more to come when i finish my exams this week, so any comments/feedback on what these fighters are lacking are also useful for me in future designs.

Might I say, Wow. These things are probably the BEST collection of fighters/gunships. I have also noticed a lack of small ship hydrogen powered fighters and realyl do enjoy these. From what I have tested, they are very durable and battle ready after you slap on a few rocket launchers and gat. guns, They are especialy handy when you have the energy shield mod which almost triples their endurance. Thankyou, I really do enjoy this collection.

Nice design!
