Glassing a planet is only known in halo. The Covenant's ships are equipped with basically a death ray that is so hot that it "turns the ground into glass." its more of a extermination type of weapon that is used in halo reach. it is really cool concept

"glass it into ruins"...

"glassing" a planet means you bombard it until the crust of the planet is destroyed, leaving only molten residue covering the whole planet

which in turn, if it cools down, could create "glass" like substances

its impossible for a "glassed planet" to have ruins

...you know, this mod sounds interesting enough that I want to try keeping it around. Only thing i am not familiar with is how i would gain access to the files to continue running it.

No need to apologise. Life happenes. Might be worth adding a line to the top of the description simply saying that the mod is deprecated, and you haven't the time or desire to update it, so someone else can. Might head off some of the comments.

Update? Also, glassing doesn't mean it can't be colonized. the UNSC recolonized Reach for example after the war.

I don't get crashes using this mod post 2.0, though I haven't had a long enough game to start bombarding anything yet (I'm a newb) I'll continue to test and update when I find out.

Sometimes I am bombarding a planet for years and I still don't get the prompt.

Also, sometimes I nuke a planet, it turns into a tomb world, but 1 pop remains alive and the planet is still being held by the previous owner.

Pretty sure that's not the intended design, is it?

@Karloku : Thanks for reading out comments. I know about the 'on_monthly' trigger, but the mentions of long waits in regards to tomb worldsare talking about delays of year or even decaes of game time without the popup showing up, and it seems, at least in my case, to be specifically for tomb worlds and no other. There's been a few cases where ive bombarded a planet at Full bombardment for in excess of 25 years, and eventually destroy the population without seeing the popup, then have the popup work fine on the next planet, in the same system, just a few months later.

Thank you for all the advices.
1. The 'glass or nuke' works only with full or armageddon bombardment as designed.
2. The 'on_monthly_orbital_bombardment' on action trigger as its name suggested is triggered every month, so it may take a while before the popups prompt.
3. Terraforming and opinion penalty were considered from the beginning. But this mod was just supposed to help getting rid of annoying and valueless planets. So I did not add these mechanisms.

Yes, Full or Armageddon bombardment only. Really, any group that isnt going to be willing to use the full force of their guns on a planet arent likely to be willing to flat out Exterminatus it either. XD

I am playing a non militarist faction, but still don't want the hassle or landing armies.

I hope the author of the mod fixes these issues, because we LOVE his work on this mod, we just need it to be consistent.
