Hey there. I made a similar post over on the subreddit, though I thought I'd ask here as well: do you recommend any additional mods to tack on alongside VN?

On an aside, sometimes if Byzantium has rebels spawn before their war with Apulia ends, and the rebels spawned in magna graecia and they seize control of the province(s) there, Apulia will sometimes peace out Byzantium by taking all of the magna graecia provinces except for those controlled by rebels. And Apulia does not usually try to fight and destroy the rebels and then take control of those provinces during the war.

@ShyGuy13 Hello! I have noticed that certain events no longer fire with the lastest update. In particular, "Fall of the Catepanate" for Apulia and Byzantium does not fire. I believe because some of the events are tied to the removed mission trees, but I could be mistaken. I just wanted to bring it to your attention that some of those linked events are missing. Apulia still seems to conquer all of the remainder of southern Italy from Byzantium though, that part remains, but then Apulia cannot convert all the Griko provinces to Sicilian via event as they used to be able too. And Byzantium does not lose all of their tributaries and such as they did with that event.

@andreiwolds You weren't rude but if you had just scrolled down in the comments you would've seen why the trees weren't working and you wouldn't have spent the weekend trying to make it work.

@CAM. Sorry if i sounded rude, i just been trying to make this work the entire wekeend that i didn't read the others posts, i think its that the modder's are working on the mod to make it better. it was the mod that i most enjoy when i played EU4.

I just wanna comment that I love this mod, and fully understand your decision on removing mission trees. I was playing VN the other night and it felt like the EU4 I played as a kid. I didn't realize none of the nations had MT's but I picked Oldenburg, and instead of following some pre-determined MT conquest path, I just played freely like Eu4 used to be played. Making my own goals as I went along.

@Shyguy13 I know I'm kind of late on this but I kind of feel the same way as ReichVictor, I wasn't trying to say that the mod was bad in any way because of the lack of mission trees, and I understand where you are coming from when you say that mission trees aren't crucial to the game-play of Eu4. I was just saying that I personally find mission trees to add a lot of flavor to otherwise bland or uninteresting countries, which I guess is just kind of my fault and I am in no way trying to say you have to cater to players like me. Great mod, keep up the great work.

I see where you're coming from regarding mission trees not being the same as focus trees in HOI IV. I didn't mean to sound like a dick or discourage you, I'm sorry. While I still really like mission trees I'll try to play some more so I can give the mod a chance and see the flavor it *does* have in other departments.

And I agree on what @Cam said. From a modder's viewpoint, getting your mod constantly called boring, bland or unfinished after releasing the biggest mod update since 2020 but deactivating a small portion of the mod *temporally to rework it* is very very discouraging.

I have said it before but I can repeat it:
This has never been a mod that you play for its mission trees. They are way too time-consuming to make or to maintain while adding barely anything valuable to the mod.
Mission trees in VN have been outdated, bugged or low-quality for long which was the reason why I (the only person working on this mod these days) removed them with the latest update. If people want missions trees so badly, they have to contribute them themselves as I don't prioritize them during mod development. Even if I wanted I simply couldn't do it because of simple manpower reasons.
Also, I disagree on the part where people here call missions a crucial part of the game. Paradox made them that way to have a selling point for their latest DLCs. But mission trees in eu4 aren't supposed to be focus trees from hoi4. There is no gameplay reason why you'd want to make them crucial to the campaign or lock flavor behind mission trees like the most recent vanilla trees did.

There is no need for you to enjoy the mod.
If you don't enjoy it don't play it.
Mod creators are not developers as in they don't have to fulfill customer needs.
They create the mod because they like it that way. If other people like it as well that's a nice thing.
But if people like you or others don't like it then it shouldn't bother them even 0.1%, it's irrelevant.

Well then, please tell me what exactly each nation has to make it unique besides the starting location? All I said is that I find playing for 300 years with just a single event or disaster boring. But I might be wrong, if there's a ton of flavor through these, please enlighten me so I can enjoy the mod.

You call us dicks yet, you describe ShyGuy13's work on the new update as the game having "no flavor" and "boring" which personally is WAY ruder than any of us making fun of you guys for ignoring all the other stuff that isn't tied down to mission trees.

Absolutely no one is saying that the mod is objectively bad or that the devs are lazy for not maintaining the mission trees. All I and I assume other people who share my opinion are saying is that mission trees are a integral part of Eu4's gameplay and I think they not only just plainly make the game better no matter what nation you pick, but they also greatly enrich the usability of many smaller countries.

Mission trees are way too time-consuming to make and maintain for a mod as big as VN. There's no point in spending dev time on a single mission tree just so that 1 out of 2000 tags gets additional flavor when you can use the same amount of dev time for improvements that make more than just 1 tag better.
