Ive only played the first like 4 cod's i dont even know that there were rayguns, I drew this all by hand, and i have the layers and stuff and brush history to show it. I'm sorry if it looks that way, my reference images are, okay go to google and type 70's rayguns, and like the first 20 was what i used looking at all the different pictures. man this is an awesome idea. I would love to see this in CS:GO but I fear fo rthe copyright walls that might block it, (refering to the Call of Duty Raygun from zombies) besides that though very zwesome design, nice and clean, and I like your color choice, really puts all the focuse on the raygun itself. Here's hoping it will be able to get in rotation! Good Luck!
