Excellent mod! Totally frags Chosen and their base....on one of my games an upgrade slot appeared on the turret!!! I gave it a 'superior magazine' and had x4 turrets!!!!!!!!! On my final run I could deploy x 9 turrets!!! Awesome.....can't find the mod I used as I've not been able to reproduce that again. Got a feeling it was a 'radio tower' bonus to slots! If anyone else had this , pls let me know how I did it....I'm so dumb!

Any easy way I can make this turret automatic and choose it's own targets? And is there a way to make the range 1 tile for deploy instead of 10? Without changing the range on the mimic beacon.

@TheMan : Yes, working on it.

@Msoulwing : That could be tricky, I don't really have any 3d modeling experience so honestly I don't really know how to rig the 3d model for that. Plus, with Mod Everything, you can mods weapons, but not utility items as far as I know.

my connection at work is shit so it's taking forever to search pages. Is there a console script to add one to inventory? I'm trying to build a Borderlands-y Commando character and trying to have the turret off the bat in LW2 since I never seem to find them.

I think. My turret uses the vanilla XCOMTurretM1 as a reference, if LW2 modified it the modifications should carry.

@Legion Prime : Well, that's exactly how it works ! Firaxis' code is set up this way, so it's easy to change. You can even make it spawn a Sectoid if you want (I did that once, just for laughs ^^). Let me know if it works.

I'm posting this here so anyone interested can do it.

If you want to publish the mod thus modified, fell free to do so ! As long as i'm in the credits, I'm glad to have helped.

As for Long War 2, I'm playing it myself and it seems to work with my mod. Has anybody found any issues with the turret that I need fo fix ?

I've playing with it and it seems to work. However, you don't get nor a movement penalty neither infiltration penalty.

@Legion Prime : it should be possible, but it would likely require more effort than it's worth, creating a new skill that can only be triggered when a turret is nearby, so on so forth ; anyboy who wants to try it is welcome to do so. I personnally think it would be quite an overkill, given that the missions are usually short

@Legion Prime : it should, the mod contains a reference to the archetype of the basic xcom turret, so if you have a mod that modifies the stats for the base friendly turret it should also affect this one. But, as in vanilla, they are not pickupable

Any plans to try and make a unique model for this? something like a port of the Cerberus Turrets from ME3 would rule, plus make more sense when "thrown"

@TheShrodingerCat : well, thanks for the clue, it set me on the right track ! I think I know where the problem is. On my own computer, when I go to the workshop downloaded file (ie. not my source code, the version that is downloaded by Steam) the encoding has been reverted to UTF-8 (not ANSI curiously) while I distinctly set it to UTF-16 in Notepad++. I think that since you must use the XCOM 2 SDK to upload the files, it must somehow override the encoding. Well, problem found, the tricky part now is fixing it ^^

I opened the translation file and saw ??? instead of localized strings. The encoding is fine (ANSI), but the content is corrupted. Maybe something is wrong with your text editor?

Well, I honestly don't know... I'll try to fiddle around with the various encodings, but it these don't work I'll roll back to the English translation... the strange part is that other mods by authors using latin alphabet like me (ie. English, French, German, etc...) have very much been successfully translated in other alphabets (hell, the base game itself is, there must be a way to do that !) I'm very sorry, if anyone has any idea about how to solve this, I very much welcome any suggestion !

All the characters rectangles with symbol like "&" or "$" in game.I opened it by Notepad++,and I can read it,no rectangles.I guess it's because the font we use cant be recognized correctly by the game?Try official CHN font of the game?
By the way,I'm using the turret now.pretty awesome~
