Hey so... Having one of these armor mods installed (I honestly can't tell which, it all looks the same) kinda messes up the alien hunter armors, adding uncessesary armor pieces with no way of removing it (imagine the basic serpent suit armor, then add some arm and leg armor pieces from Halo on top of that, severe clipping issues included).
Think there's gonna be a fix for that, or should I just uninstall these mods?

i converted the guns, the rest is just cosmetic so it should all work just fine. theres an issue with pistols apparently but idk ill check it at a later date

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!!!

The HALO armours often require their respective torsos from the mods. The torsos include the arms and legs, while the arm and leg options allow you to put the armour on those respective bodyparts. They don't work with vanilla XCOM parts well, as the arms and legs are too big for default torsos and the HALO bodies too large for most of the default legs and all of the arms, unless you want to have floating armour pieces and have a beautiful side view through the torso. Get these mods though. They are fantastic.

Ahh i see i see. so im looking to get into doing what you do. i was looking at someone who is making the halo 5 armor for xcom and i really want to do that. What can you tell me about how i could get started? what are some things id need? how do i get into creating mods like that?

The AI chips are literally just weapon attatchments with different pictures to make it look less "jarring" when you get an attatchment... So for instance when you get a scope.. obviously i dont have a scope model and it would feel underwhelming to "equip" a scope and nothing changes on the gun

Theres a lot of small issues with that, being that the skyranger is in baked cinematics and particle effects are tied to animations, one day maybe :P

also, i had to unsub from several halo armor mods as they would cause missing arms and legs most of the time sadly, however when they wernt they looked amazing! keep up the great work!

nigel i'd be happy to see a seperate reach Grenade launcher addon even if its cheesy, having the awesome looking SAW from H4 and then seeing the clay looking Grenade launcher just kinda kills it, trying a all spartans playthrough and the GL seems to be all thats missing

Would you also have to change the weights for those animations if that WAS possible? Or is that unique to the rig and not the frames? Its been two/three years since ive done any 3D animation and ive forgotten a lot

Yeah i know all that junk. I was just throwing out ideas. I figured you could at least pull the keyframes for the limbs. Cut out a lot of work and just worry about animating the smaller bits. Of course id have to see exactly all the differences in the rigs to know just how difficult it would be

Nope,
Animations are made by moving pieces of the skeleton(rig) and having that data saved each frame. Each bone has its own unique name and the skeleton has its own uniqe amount of bones. XCom doesnt have the same bone structure or # of bones so transfering an animation directly would be just as difficult as trying to recreate it from scratch...

Unless theres some pro tool to Xfer animations across rigs, which i dont think i can afford if it does exist.

The problem with covenant weapons is the animations that they have and the particles. To my knowledge to get a gun to animate in Xcom has proven an annoying task as it currently is. Adding new "socket" bones to the items that animate would probably prove even more difficult. And then getting the "socket" particle emitters and creating the particles in their editor would be extremely difficult to do.

TL;DR : Particle and Animation difficulties for covenant weapons

But trust me, i do want some shields :P i think it would be cool.. add it like a vest so it takes a utility slot and then recharges every so often or a tiny shield with it coming back every turn

I dont know of any that still work, i may work on that when i recover more from my surgery, but until then its a waiting game
