Scaffolding

Greetings sir or madam. I appreciate the idea of this mod a great deal, but it seems to no longer function as intended - unless I am misunderstanding something. I intended to use this to help me position lights on a large ceiling but putting the scaffolding up actually replaces the ceiling piece, leaving only the scaffolding. Having not been updated in four years, I assume that you've moved on from Ark and won't be updating. Should you ever decided to do so, it would be appreciated. Thank you, live long and prosper.

SUGGESTION
Imagine you have 3 walls on top, and below one wall at the right and one wall at the left. In the middle is therefore a gap - a missing wall. If we want to use this gap as a wide door, we would need some framing, some sort of scaffolding: a vertical beam on the left, a vertical beam on the right, a horizontal beam ion top, and two tiny diagonal beams at the upper right and left edges.

Cool! Please add more structures!

Any plans to bring it up to date for the Homebase update (triangular foundations, etc)
....
Please ;-)

I can't spawn in nor can I find where to craft in game.

@SSG Dayton Would it be possible to add an option to pick-up the scaffolding when we're done? I actually use it when I'm building high buildings. It'd be nice to pick it up like the item's in S+.

I couldn't find this mod using the workshop search, so my clean reinstall of it was a pain. Thanks Steam.:steamsad:

Wasn't added to server mods correctly, some strange thing... well,
problem solved, not the mod's fault ;)

I use them extensively during construction, later replacing them with stone, or metal. Otherwise I use them as fence reinforcement.

Could you make this with irrigation and be able to use running water with it ? That would be alsome It would be a lot easer makeing farming.

The mod will work without adding the changes to the ini file. It's only there if somone wants to alter the default behavior. I just started a private server with several of my friends and it still loads properly for everyone. Did you add the mod in the settings page after you subscribed?
Valerius 27 Jun, 2016 @ 1:25am
I added the mod, but didn't yet do any ini changes. Are they necessary by force for the mod in order to work?

For me I the "configuration" looked like an optional point...

Atm I cannot find it in my engram list, while I also cannot add them by command.

I found another nice usage for the scaffolds, as a wandering-pen for Dung Beetles. I formerly used Wood-structures 1x1x1 (build around them) with a window-frame (without window) for them (you need to still access the inventory). But they sometime got stuck in the window-frame or bugged through somehow. Now they have a fully closed cage with variable size and I can grab though the grid and get access to the beetle.

Great mod! Using it for advanced base construction and don't want to miss it any longer. It really helps out when the game doesn't, e.g. placing foundations to scaffolds and replace them later against ceilings and walls. Gapping rough terrain and I especially like the correct pillar snap point below the ceiling because its the right. Thanks and keep up the good work! An idea: Can you make a special ceiling scaffold, which has snappoints for water and electric cables. A little over and a little below the ceiling base hight would be cool to have perfectly aligned cabling and water, with the below snappoint I can lay them invisible in foundations or under the ceiling (so noone stubles over them :) but the perfect alignedment to the structure grid would already be a huge help. I can use the pipes and cables mod to help with different heighs, but I need a startpoint aligned to structures.

Not sure if you can do anything about it but I can't seen to clip into terrain as much as I could before the last Ark update.

Hello,
Awesome mod, and I support gantros idear for pillar equivalent ;)
Thanks for this mod

Absolutely love this simpe yet so very effective mod. Thanks for making building that much less frustrating. Keep 'er up to date and it'll be a constant on our server:)

This is a great mod, especially the bit where pillars snap flush to the bottom of the scaffold platform. My only issue is that the scaffold wall is named Wooden Wall, the same as the vanilla wooden wall so if you drop a wall section over a scaffold section and the scaffold isn't auto-demo'd then you can't tell which is which to manually demo the scaffold.

Otherwise this is a super useful mod and needs a lot more exposure so if can be on the front page.

This is amazing. Great job man, this is a must-have mod in my book. I hated having to build ceiling+pillar because a small dip in my landscape made me unable to snap foundations.
Six 5 Apr, 2016 @ 7:14am
Like typical scaffolding used in construction which rises from the ground next to the wall/structure being built. You currently have a roof/floor (I think), but a wall or pillars would be needed to complete the scaffold, assuming you don't use vanilla structures for this.
thescaryone 5 Apr, 2016 @ 2:55am
I was wondering about that, but the extremely low HP and wood tier makes me think otherwise, plus being able to shoot through it.

Maybe release two versions of the scaffold, you can block the engrams with a ini setting, so the admin could decide.

[disclaimer]I'm new to all the tools used to mod this game and am not an artist[/disclaimer]

@Fell: I added a wall and found it would be useful with the collision detection turned off. Not sure what you meant by frame though.
@thescaryone: I thought about adding that, but I felt it could be exploited on multiplayer servers so decided not too. I have been trying to think of a way to make large structures easier to align/build, will try (time dependent).
@Gantros: I think that would look nice, if anyone could help with the texturing, I wouldn't mind adding it.
Gantros 4 Apr, 2016 @ 5:57pm
I like this idea, something that has been requested a long time. But I would like to ask for a pillar equivalent, ideally that has built in ladders. Also, I like the appearance of it and would like a garden variant with vines hanging off of it for an aesthetically pleasing indoor garden space.
thescaryone 4 Apr, 2016 @ 1:27am
Is there a way to make this piece not look for supporting foundation? Would love to be able to run a quick set across a river to build two sides of a bridge and meet in the middle.
Six 3 Apr, 2016 @ 11:55am
Do you plan to add a frame or wall scaffolding in the future? This does sound useful, as trying to build a seven story building near the foot of a cliff is a bit difficult to get level.
