It's unique to Tabletop Simulator for sure. Lots of love went into it. Its similar to Monikers and Times Up and it has ungodly amount of cards for high replay value. There isn't any other mod that is close to it as of yet.

Use this type if you have a set of mods that compliment each other, or a set of maps that you think should be played in a certain order
My general strategy was as follows: I initially found all the good looking custom board games I could by browsing through the ENTIRE workshop. I then looked at all the board games those authors had also released. I then followed those people.
For updates: I check every day or two to see if any of my followed authors have released a new game. I also check the top 100 or so popular downloads of the week/day to see if there are any new games that seem to be popular. Lastly, once in awhile I check other popular collections to see if anyone else has found any that I missed.
