Sorry about the Parkinson's, Dude. Looks like we're about the same age and attitude. Got to think how to take this off-Steam and onto email safely.

A guy I worked under said, "If you find one good poem in a book, then it's a good book." I haven't read a poetry book in decades. Hmm, maybe I should try them again.

lol, retired here, too....and now, striken with the burden of Parkinson's, I'm deadly dull, boring myself. Maybe, once I'm no longer able to type att all (writing with pen and paper already beyond me), I can just record by voice and find my own Meme...and no chance it'll be poetry, just not my thing, reading or writing, lol.

I find writing really, really hard, but as an ex-poet married to a sculptress I had to find something. Writing is the only thing people would pay me for. Once I started writing for pay, I stopped writing for me. Now retired, I still can't write for me. Good characters, atmospheric settings, and terrible at following plots. My reality is formless and guilt written. I'm still a poet-type. i.e. I'm so boring even I can't stand me.

Well, you've made more progress than I have. I'm still digging for that "novel that everyone has inside them".

Well, you tried. We all have too much to do whether we're retired or not (it's actually harder to convince my wife I need "me" time than when I was chasing real deadlines).

When I take up the game again, would you mind if I saved a copy to tinker with? It would not post it. I do respect the rights and honor of authors and developers. (I'm an ex-writer for hire type, so I don't have any rights to the videos, scripts and training I wrote. Even the poetry mag I used to publish in was "all rights grant others." To be fair--they did pay.)

I'm giving it a lot of thought, researching the few resources out there. The biggest problem is that some resources are locked away at the moment because they can't decide whether to go with a new game or a movie, or both. Busily protecting the franchise and the copyrights. Can't really blame them, i guess, but......

Back in the seventies while playing miniatures the game master had me assassinated in my tent after ending the latest simulation with diplomacy, maneuver, and decent peace terms (I lost the only skirmish and that was a pencil and paper exercise). My high point as a gamer. I was reborn as an illegitimate claimant to my own throne with only a minor army.

Looking forward to your revisions.

yes, I agree completely.

I think there is a great divide in gamers. Those who want to win search for a weak point in the simulation and use it to annihilate all comers, whether human or AI.

The other type are those who like inhabiting simulations. Some games give great pleasure and the end is almost an annoyance.

Basing GCIII civilizations on books, etc. is like taking part in fan fiction. You can play anyway your instincts lead. Besides, try as you might, the AI is going to attack you anyway. Why hurry.

The gamers who scare me are the ones who burn up inconvient planets to win faster. I hear those billions of beings screaming in my dreams.

The later Honorverse stories I like are the ones that explore the different factions.

True, lots of technical stuff with Weber, but it's far more about politics than science.

Great! Though not I'll admit great literature, The earlier books were far more engaging than the later ones, until I finally gave up. However it's a nice persona to use in a game. I'm a romantic looking for a good fantasy, winning preferred but not necessary. I hope you do find time for revising it.

Wow, I haven't worked on that for so long, maybe some new work needs to be revisited. Good idea, thanks. Look for some new stuff in the near future.

Here's hoping for a refresh.

Pretty much, yeah.

I'm assuming that Missile weapons cost nothing in terms of weight/volume? Judging the Honorverse, that's what I'd expect.
