To others. If you were wondering No. this does NOT work with Wotc i spent over 3 hours manually checking which mod was preventing from wotc from launching. it was this one. cheers.

@Kad no, (2 years late ik)

Does this mod work with WotC? I know it hasn't been updated specifically to be run with it, but if it still works, that would be great. I always liked the idea of a veteran soldier leading recruits out into the field. But doing it in actual missions or using the Covert actions just doesn't seem viable to me. Thanks for the great mod either way.
Dragon32 25 Feb, 2019 @ 4:15pm
@RealityMachina:
Just been thinking that having this as a new Covert Action could be a nice thing in WotC. Really not sure what the maximum number of soldier slots one can have on a Resistance Action (three?) but if it was half dozen that would be perfect.

Take your point about the Promotion rewards from Covert Actions, but having a way to bump up those lower ranked troops a little bit would still be nice.

Just a thought.

wotc plz
TheZuma 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:51am
Yea, that's true
RealityMachina  [author] 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:45am
Probably not, Covert Actions fill in for this mod's functionality as far as I'm concerned.
TheZuma 3 Sep, 2017 @ 1:44am
Sounds awesome! Are you planning updating it for WotC?
RealityMachina  [author] 23 Jul, 2017 @ 1:22am
It's almost like I put in a warning about this mod having conflicts with other mods that alter the GTS.
Leion 23 Jul, 2017 @ 12:27am
This mod corrupted my save game, It altered the officer training and rockie training slot messing the two up making impossible for me to train two rockies at once, will have to start another campain. I'm using LW2 of course, and no other mod that changes anything with GTS. Tread carefully with this one.
Dragonus 2 Mar, 2017 @ 2:42am
I didn't read ALL of the comments so I do apologize if this is already mentioned but there is another Mod this is incompatible with: Use My Class. I just recently went on a Recruit Shopping spree and had like 8 rookies. For some reason, when they go on patrol, they all get random classes as opposed to the "Use My Class" class pre-assigned to them. {WHICH RUINS MY HEADCANON, GUY!} So yeah....if you have "Use My Class" make sure the rookies are all leveled first before u send a vet on patrol. :steamfacepalm:

What happens if i subscribe the patrol and the defence maxrix mod?
Franck 13 Jan, 2017 @ 12:53pm
i think i had the mod Psi Lab Trains Multiple Classes active as well. This might be the issue. Thx for answering my question and to make mods. keep the good job going .

any idea how i can fix the problem? i am thinking to delete and reinstall the game.
RealityMachina  [author] 13 Jan, 2017 @ 10:34am
This mods makes no alterations to class data, you have some other mod that's modifying the Sharpshooter skill tree
Franck 13 Jan, 2017 @ 10:26am
Just to clarify i am not 100% sure the problem comes from this mod as i had many installed at that time.
Franck 13 Jan, 2017 @ 10:23am
Hi everybody
i am new to the game and only got vanilla.

I installed this mod among others and started a patrol. This resulted in having my trained sharpshooter receiving deadeye at corporal rank.

I uninstalled the mod as i expected the trainee to receive ability corresponding to its actual rank rather than a random ability.

I started a fresh game but realised that every sharpshooter that reach corporal rank (through normal enemies killing XP) has to choose betwen deadeye or lightning hands rather than longwatch/return fire.

Can you help me solve this problem and get my sharpshooters levelling normally?
Thank you in advance.

And... I just realized using this edition of the mod that might be the cause of the problem after doing some more reading. Well damn.

I'm guessing I should have used the defense matrix edition instead. It never occured to me that this could happen since I didn't run into any noticeable issues until now.
RealityMachina  [author] 10 Dec, 2016 @ 1:03pm
@Orbi wait wait wait

You're using the Officer Pack in addition to this?
Ori 10 Dec, 2016 @ 12:48pm
Just got the 'blue room' glitch in the middle of my first run, squad size got cut down by two. Probably will have to give up on some other facility to have the GTS back. Using Officer Pack and a number of other mods but nothing that really alters how soldiers gain XP.

This is a very good mod in concept but this issue seems to be more common than it should from what I read in the comments. Is there any ETA on a fix?
Anakin da Mooca 14 Aug, 2016 @ 11:59pm
Ruined two ironman games (boot with a lot of gameplay hours) to GTS bug... I will not use any console comand, just uninstalling the mod. It is a great mod that added a lot of "realism", but the GTS bug is a real funbreaker. PS: I finished a gameplay with it sometime ago, no problem... the two bugs happened in this weekend.
JasonShepardN7 27 Jul, 2016 @ 5:51am
There's sort-of a workaround for the frozen-GTS issue - using the console with "givefacility officertrainingschool X" (X being a number between 3 and 14 corresponding to an empty facility room) gives a new GTS which can then be accessed. However, all GTS upgrades still need to be repurchased at the new one, and while you can train recruits again, the 2nd GTS does not offer Patrol Training. And having a 2nd GTS does count towards your power usage.
JasonShepardN7 27 Jul, 2016 @ 3:15am
Count me in as another person suffering from the GTS suddenly being non-selectable. I intend to do some experimenting with my backed up save, see if I can find a fix. Everything I've found so far is in a reddit thread titled "[Bug] Currently CANNOT access the GTS."
FreedomFighter 13 Jul, 2016 @ 8:37am
Huh, i got duplicated mentor perk. Is this intended? One of my guy has two mentor stamina which bump his mobility to 18.
FreedomFighter 11 Jul, 2016 @ 8:05am
@RealityMachina Oh, the latest localization fixed that LocFriendlyName.
Tivec 8 Jul, 2016 @ 12:09pm
One of my soldiers completed a training session and got an ability... "Missing 'LocFriendlyName' for 'MentorStamina'". :)
wolftech300 6 Jul, 2016 @ 5:43am
I'm having an error similar to several people using the Defense Matrix version of this mod. My GTS became unselectable after returning from a tactical mission so the error occured before the partol training was complete. I was using a colonel soldier to train and it was his fourth time training patrols. It acts as though the GTS isn't even there (it takes you to the build facilities screen when you click on it, but it won't let you delete the facility either). It also won't let you place soldiers in either slot. Hope this helps track down the problem. I love your mods!
ebongreen 4 Jul, 2016 @ 11:03am
@RealityMachina That's very quick response! Thanks so much!

Another consideration is how this interacts with the Squad Cohesion mod. It looks like every soldier gets more friendly with every other unit when patroling happens (that may not be the case, just an appearance). It's nice for the fight, but is that part of the design? It would seem more realistic if the junior soldiers bonded, but that the senior officers remained aloof.
RealityMachina  [author] 4 Jul, 2016 @ 10:13am
@ebongreen That would be my mistake, the place where RiskOfWounds does its check means it checks all units on the Avenger instead of those who qualified to be on patrol. Fixing it now.
ebongreen 4 Jul, 2016 @ 10:01am
An unexpected and unwelcome side-effect I've seen twice now is senior officers, presumably not on patrol, showing up as injured at the conclusion of the patrol duration. I need my top soldiers healthy - why would officers not instructing their juniors be wounded using this mod?
Shoji Tabuchi 22 Jun, 2016 @ 8:55pm
This is pretty much one of the only mods i've seen that i feel wouldn't break the game, but seems like it could add alot. Thank you I don't use many mods so yea, NJ.
Nalivai 14 Jun, 2016 @ 3:15pm
Same for me with "missing friendly name for ability", any way to fix it?
TatlTael 13 Jun, 2016 @ 10:41pm
Is there any cleaner way for me to remove the Mentor Confidence function completely? I personally feel that the late-game power creep is real and I don't think my Colonels need any more bonuses. I would also prefer to remove it in a way that does not leave UI artifacts though. Is there something in the main ini that controls this? Thanks
RealityMachina  [author] 13 Jun, 2016 @ 2:26pm
TatlTael: The game would still give them the perks, but deleting/commenting them out would cause the bonuses to default to 0.
TatlTael 13 Jun, 2016 @ 11:30am
If I wanted to completely disable the Mentor Confidence bonuses, would simply deleting / commenting out the contents of the XComMentorConfidence.ini file work, or is it more complex than that?
José 3 Jun, 2016 @ 12:26pm
For the additional perks, would you be able to used the perk designs from the PCS's instead of Inspire?
Neaye 7 May, 2016 @ 6:03am
Hi. I just started using this mod, love it so far and seems to be working fine. There's just one thing that I came across that looked a bit weird. When my SGT finished with a partrol she got the Mentor Reflexes, although the text for it seems to be missing? Here's a screenshot to make it easier: http://i63.tinypic.com/ic5tgx.jpg
I know it's just a small cosmetic thing since she obviously got the 10 dogde, but I just thought I'd mention it since I couldn't find anything similar here in the comments section.
marshmallow justice 26 Apr, 2016 @ 11:55am
Hey Reality, I finally got around to putting this mod in action to find that everybody under the parameters got a promotion (cool!), but is there a way to limit how many actually get a promotion? It feels kind of broken for my playthrough to be able to spend 10 days training every single person on the roster up to the next rank.
Varyk 15 Apr, 2016 @ 3:53pm
What happens if you use the GTS & Def Matrix version at the same time?
RealityMachina  [author] 15 Apr, 2016 @ 11:25am
@marshmallow justice It should, as long as you're not using the Leader Pack.
marshmallow justice 15 Apr, 2016 @ 1:24am
can i use this in an existing campaign?
Crazy War Hero 14 Apr, 2016 @ 6:17pm
are you supposed to leave the rookie in the slot after they level up? I can't put any soldiers in the training slot.
RealityMachina  [author] 10 Apr, 2016 @ 6:37pm
@Alebak No, only injured at most if enabled.

@Anistropic

Jaaaaaaake! >:(

More seriously I think I can just switch it over to checking XComHQ.Squad since that *does* actually change when it's supposed to, once I'm done with this update on Squad Cohesion I'm working on, I'll come back to this and the Defense Matrix variant.
Anisotropic 10 Apr, 2016 @ 6:23pm
Sooo I finally got annoyed with this not working and debugged it. I found the bug!

The mod has a check, IsOnMission(), which excludes soldiers from ranking up if they are "currently on a mission" - i.e. if their location is on the Skyranger (eSoldierLoc_Dropship).

But, it turns out that once a soldier goes on a mission, their location never gets returned to the Barracks - effectively, he/she never leaves the dropship .
That means that once a soldier goes on a mission, they will never get XP from this mechanic again. :(

This is kind of Firaxis' fault since they should have reset the location, but hey. Anyway, the easiest way to fix this is to just remove the IsOnMission() check. It doesn't really do anything for this mod anyway.
Speider 8 Apr, 2016 @ 9:14pm
I think this is a great mod, but the real reason I upvoted this is because seeing "squaddie Max Fightmaster" made me laugh out loud, as I know who the actual Max is.

Well done with the initial picture, and of course, the mod ^_^
Alebak 26 Mar, 2016 @ 5:29pm
Can training like this get anyone killed?
Anisotropic 26 Mar, 2016 @ 1:33pm
Nope, but good to hear that it still works. It must be a conflict with another mod.

From looking at the code, the mentor ability and the xp are added on the same code path, so it's weird that I get the first but not the second. Most mod conflicts wouldn't do that. No redscreen errors at completion, either.

At the moment I'm thinking it might be a conflict with soldier fatigue, but I dunno. Sorry for the false alarm. :)
RealityMachina  [author] 26 Mar, 2016 @ 12:41pm
@Anisotropic Works with the tests I've done, did you happen to change any settings in the config?
Anisotropic 25 Mar, 2016 @ 8:28pm
Can someone confirm that this works since the patch? The training UI works, and my soldier gets the "Mentor Confidence" perk, but none of my soldiers' kills go up at all.
