One thing to note, whenever a large ship hits the atmosphere with the deadly reentry mod and ludicrous speed, it slows down at a fast enough rate to effectively hover if the downward facing engines don't burn off. I'm thoroughly pleased by this mod.
NordicBeast 13. sep. 2016 kl. 20:37
Agreed, I'd like to see local moon systems around a gas giant in SE. Eventually it'd be nice if you just do say, an easy start "gas giant" and a random gas giant pops up along with a few moons.
Kerian Halcyon 5. sep. 2016 kl. 15:10
@Doctor Octoganapus Ah, makes sense...I guess. In a Space Engineersy kind of way...

In any case, I hope that Keen makes it possible to make gas giants a thing. Technically it shouldn't be that impossible, even if it's done half-assed. I just wanna see a gas giant in the game.
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 5. sep. 2016 kl. 1:29
@Kerian Halcyon Actually that is not how the blackhole works - Its atmosphere is about the same as Aynor the difference is that with the blackholes gravity you just glitch through the voxel surface and keep falling through it.
Kerian Halcyon 4. sep. 2016 kl. 23:56
Isn't it technically possible to attempt to make a gas giant just by adding multiple atmospheres on top of one another surrounding a small center with immense gravity? I know someone who had attempted (successfully, mind you) to create a sort of 'black hole' during launch but I haven't heard of it being reattempted.
Juggernaut 6. aug. 2016 kl. 19:04
Ah, that is a shame!
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 6. aug. 2016 kl. 17:21
@Juggernaut Until they allow us to have modded clouds - this is the best/closest we can get.
Juggernaut 6. aug. 2016 kl. 16:51
Would you consider taking another whack at/just making a few more of these gas giants in different colors/atmospheric make-ups? I enjoy it quite a lot but my 12+ planet server needs a few more interesting celestial bodies!

-Added Deadly Reentry mod,
-Accidently pasted Shipyard a TAD close to a x3 max size aynor...
-Might have watched my station evaporate immediatly in the dense atmopshere before it ever touched a voxel...
-10/10

Oh no, it was just a question. I've never modded S.E. myself but I'm pretty techie and used to do things like GldSrc maps and models for Half-Life, so I'm not against learning. I just didn't know what it would entail.
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 4. juni 2016 kl. 23:12
@Biomechannibal Actually it would only take me 5-10min but I would never bother doing so, however GHOSTXV has made a planet like that before. If you really want one maybe ask him, I by rule don't do requests but I'm also busy updating my planets as well as busy irl.
Biomechannibal 4. juni 2016 kl. 23:04
Just curious. That does sound like more work than it's worth.
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 4. juni 2016 kl. 22:59
@Biomechannibal Technically I can make a custom voxel for that but I don't see a point in doing so.
Biomechannibal 4. juni 2016 kl. 22:39
This is pretty sweet. Used it to simulate a Jupiter area in my custom map. Can planets be made to glow? This one got me thinking about Neutron Stars.
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 28. maj 2016 kl. 22:12
@Makuta Nazo There are layers to the clouds, but clouds are not opaque so it doesn't matter.
Makuta Nazo 28. maj 2016 kl. 19:04
@Doctor Octoganapus Well that sucks X3. I guess there isnt a way to add layers of clouds yet.... Ah well, plans for the future. Combined this with the atmospheric rentry mod, and wow. my capitol ship vaporized on contact with the atmosphere... neext ima see how it handles the unlimited sized planet mod :3
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 28. maj 2016 kl. 18:47
@Makuta Nazo Yes and No. I could have made its cloud layer much farther out but it looks terrible and its completely see through.
Makuta Nazo 28. maj 2016 kl. 18:32
Is there a limit to the atmosphereic size? it would be awesome if the clouds reached out a LOT further, so that you could technically get 'closer' before you pass the point of no return with its gravity.
Maxime 23. maj 2016 kl. 14:25
I flew a ship in here to see what would happen, it went in and out of the atmosphere many times I have no idea what's happening
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 20. maj 2016 kl. 21:50
@Akimitsu Sure.
Akimitsu 20. maj 2016 kl. 21:42
This is by far my favorite planet on the Workshop. Would it be possible to use this, Recana and Darinos to make a scenario to possibly release on the workshop? I would of course give due credit and have it be a requirement to use the map.
jb_aero 17. maj 2016 kl. 14:29
This is truly a terror. I dropped a capital ship from orbit with infinite speed on, dunno how fast I was going, but the ship went through the ground mostly intact and fell out of site toward the core. My astronaut was travelling so fast, he hit the ground on the other side of the planet. I put myself on the surface on that side and shortly after, pieces of the ship started raining down, on the opposite side that the ship had hit. Then I went to the core, and the whole world became pixelated. Very trippy.
TheWorkingMan43 13. mar. 2016 kl. 3:58
i know a planet has 6 g bit this one has 36.! can you play on it. it like the settings are -10-10-10
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 12. mar. 2016 kl. 12:15
@HelperGuy I tried making a planet with negative gravity but the game will not allow it.
TheWorkingMan43 12. mar. 2016 kl. 3:46
Who wants to land or crash on a planet then if you lived build on it and move super slow. If anything Make a planet with all resources and make the gravity negitave keeps pushing you up.
Pan 6. mar. 2016 kl. 12:39
@Doctor Octoganapus Thanks!
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 6. mar. 2016 kl. 12:31
@Pan Look at the guide I made.
Pan 6. mar. 2016 kl. 12:20
I wish things like this could be bigger than 120 km.
Rinzler350z 20. feb. 2016 kl. 7:18
thx m8
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 18. feb. 2016 kl. 19:14
Nope. Though if keen adds code for them then I probably will but until then this is it.
Rinzler350z 18. feb. 2016 kl. 7:13
Doctor...are you planning more gas giant planets?
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 16. feb. 2016 kl. 17:58
@snowskijunky I would make one like that but cloud modding is not supported at the momment, but I do plan on making one like that when cloud modding is supported. (Also seen the video before)
Doctor Octoganapus  [ophavsmand] 16. feb. 2016 kl. 17:55
@NordicBeast you could just remove the Recana planet mod and the world would auto delete the other planets.
SergeantShavedBalls 16. feb. 2016 kl. 17:44
Not sure who made this but check this out if you want some sweet inspiration :)

SergeantShavedBalls 16. feb. 2016 kl. 17:44
holy shit more of this!!! Your planets are epic, literally the only author I've ever subscribed to.
NordicBeast 16. feb. 2016 kl. 16:59
So just noticed we can't get it to the 1000km size as in your world map, would you mind posting the world map without planets it in so we could make our own custom system around Aynor?
NordicBeast 16. feb. 2016 kl. 16:15
Thank you so much!
DeAnti 16. feb. 2016 kl. 15:52
bad ass
