If you surprise enemies and they don't always go into cover, instead sometimes just run to a random open spot without cover, then it's working. I'll test it and make sure sometime soon.

Is this mod still working?

"others will expose themselves." hehe

Hi, I think maybe the latest patch might override your mod, cause the aliens are suddenly using their free action to shoot, flank and move into full cover..

Adds comedy with a touch of realism to the game. In my experience compatible with other AI mods. GJ =D

Nothing changes when you are in concealment.
They make all kinds of moves when they get surprised...
Like this mod a lot.

"This mod aims to make the AI take less advantageous moves when they are surprised by your forces on your turn while not concealed."

Maybe this isn't worded correctly, but I feel this should be the opposite. The aliens should take an absolute garbage free move when you are concealed (they are surprised) and just act normally when you are not concealed (they know youre there).

You would think it would have at least have the same % as an overwatch shot. I'd be almost OK with that given RNGesus seems to be a bit more fair with the missed shot distribution this game, but ideal would be to give 100% dodge against such shots. I just like the idea of so many different directions/reactions, like they really did get surprised.
surray  [author] 15 Feb, 2016 @ 7:17am
Yeah that can be done, doc savage. At the moment they only shoot if you are very close but I could change that or add a random element. I cannot lower their accuracy yet though.

@Doc Savage That makes me think. Why in the hell did Fraxis not include any of XCOM: EW "Second wave" options. It would have made for a far more interesting game.
Doc Savage 15 Feb, 2016 @ 3:59am
In all honesty "Itchy Trigger Tentacle" figures into this as well. Scaring the alien fecal matter out of something can sometimes cause enough clenching to include a trigger finger... Any chance a low % to hit shot or two gets let off instead of moving at all for some of our beloved petrified targets..?

Xenos and heretics will fall before us. Not randomly expose themselves to us.

Though the idea of only reacting to that one who they saw is a good idea.
surray  [author] 14 Feb, 2016 @ 12:17pm
Never mind, it seems to be the closest revealed enemy to the tile, and everyone gets revealed when your one guy surprises them (except rangers with that skill) so they will be considered.

So they'll basically try to move to wherever is furthest away from all your soldiers, which somewhat prevents the real ambush stuff that we want.
You can scare them towards your allies if they are far enough away, but if you are close to them from both sides they will move away to the sides and not through your soldiers, I believe.
surray  [author] 14 Feb, 2016 @ 11:37am
Currently I'm testing a version where they should run away from the nearest of your soldiers that has been spotted, but I'm not certain if that only means concealment or line of sight, which is what we would prefer.

I just had a train mission in testing and surprised a group of enemies on one side of the train, they retreated from my single soldier to the other side where they were in plain sight of 3 of my other soldiers waiting behind a car there.
Still testing a bit.

Would that be a suitable update for this mod or should it be a new one?
What do you guys think?
RedDestiny 14 Feb, 2016 @ 9:15am
Maybe just make them react to the closest guy? should be the one to pop them... anyways good luck! ill probably be using this for the time being :)
RedDestiny 14 Feb, 2016 @ 9:13am
i second Lord of War's comment. it would be great if you could get them to react to the soilder they saw instead of magically knowing where the whole squad was lol
Nocio 14 Feb, 2016 @ 8:34am
Good idea =)
surray  [author] 14 Feb, 2016 @ 4:24am
Should be possible, but not sure if I can accomplish that personally.
I'll look into it at least.
Alan Mandrake 14 Feb, 2016 @ 3:26am
Would it be possible to to make the game just consider the possition of the one solider who revealed the enemies? So they dont stand compleatly in the open but sometimes end up being flanked. Would seem like a colse to reality solution: Enemy appears, dash for cover, realize there are two more waiting for you there... ambushes on a whole new level!
surray  [author] 14 Feb, 2016 @ 3:08am
Hey don't discriminate against your xenophiliac troops. They're people too.
Cigol 14 Feb, 2016 @ 3:02am
I'm not sure I want aliens randomly exposing themselves to my troops. If you know what I mean... :steamfacepalm:
