I think I know the common process for GAHBAGE mapping (which is basically just ♠♠♠♠ing up a PeTI map):

1) Create a dumb puzzle.
2) Export to Hammer. Make sure to use preview.vmf so that the player never gets to see the end.
3) "Beat it up" by rotating voxels, changing textures (but not in the instances; too technical for me), adding semi-random detail ect. We want to make sure its SPECIAL :steammocking:
4) OMFG THERES A LEEK IN MY MAP I NEED TO FIX THAT WITH A BOX wait whats nodraw
5) ok all fixed now compile using the most convenient compile format and publish.

Aside: that very image (the thumbnail) has been abused by bad Hammer mappers who don't know what the hell to use for an image, so they just grab the PlayTestedCertified.png file within the "bin" directory and use that :P :steamfacepalm: It adds a nice meta effect to your spoof.

Interesting. The first thing I did after scorching the turrets was walk over in front of the button, push it and watch the elevator go up without me. So, I just sat there and had a beer. Thanks for your work. I bet the map was great...

@quaternary - Yep, spot on. The little tiny bit I know about that stuff, thanks to you and a few other gifted mappers, I try to pass along, but it doesn't matter.

The most common one I see is not doing a full (slow!) compile for the lighting.

About the cubemap issues - It's caused by renaming the map file. Then again, most workshop @#$%maps seem to not care about it or fix it either, so it's only helping your point ;)
