@Lilac If you're talking to me, assuming I'm a confederate supporter, first of all, I only downloaded this a joke, because I like to combine seriousness with humor on my runs, second of all, I don't care what race you are, be it black, asian, or white, as long as you're a normal human being and follow the law, third of all, I don't support the confederacy, nor I agree with slavery, as I said before, I only downloaded this as a joke, if you can't handle this humor, maybe go back to reddit?

A lot of you 'federate supporters will say "it wasn't about slavery, the common folk didn't own slaves!" And you're correct. The common folk didn't own slaves. The rich did.
You know who else was rich? The politicians. The people in control .

It was the people that owned slaves that were in control. It was the people that owned slaves that declared war. It was the people that owned slaves that seceded. The confederacy was always about keeping slaves. The rich just lied to you and told you otherwise.

The flag isn't even the actual confederate flag, it's apparently a battle-flag used for Kentucky during the Civil war.
I know that racist people have used the flag, but apparently it's also seen as a general symbol of rebellion and southern pride is regions of the south, including some black people.
The south has been over a lot of their racism for a while now, they should be able to have this flag to celebrate their unique region of America.

Also, it could just be that they want it either as some alternative history situation, and don't see it as racist.

Has anyone down here considered that someone may want the flag for alternate history reasons?

I know I'm waaaay late to this conversation, but I just bough this game, and I don't care if anyone see's this, I'm just writing this for my own sanity. First off being black doesn't make it okay to do/say ignorant things regarding race (Kayne West anyone?). Second I just don't understand why anyone would want a symbol of racism on a video game character, unless its a historical game. I want my characters to look cool! Not like a racist.

Lastly for those who say the confederates and their flag aren't racist, it might interest you to know that in the declaration of war sent to the north by the confederates, it explicitly states one of their reasons for going to war as keeping slavery legal. Sure their was other stuff in there, but it's pretty hard to defend your other reasons when you slip slavery in there :/

Look at all the racists holding on to their precious symbol of white supremacy. In their own words the South fought to defend their right to own Black people. Social psychology studies have been conducted showing that those who defend the confederate battle flag hold racist ideals, most of which claim that they are not racist because they are "colorblind." It is hate, not heritage. Drop the lost cause and read a real history book.

He did send troops to reinforce Fort Sumpter (now occupied part of a sovereign nation that didn't want his troops), against his promises not to do this, witch let to the bombardment of the Fort, while his ships, while the reinforcements turned around. It gave him his "reason" to declare the war he wanted to wage.
Anyway, this flag just shows the Southern Cross a stellar constellation. Next thing on the To Do List from the SJW-idiots, destroy those stars.

Even the northern states included slaver states.
Lincoln never fought over the slave "problem", it was about money, about the taxes that ruined the South. In his election campaign he wanted a deportation of all blacks, back to Africa (Liberia).
Lincoln offered peace, if the South returned under his (by then illegal) rule, and they could have even kept the slaves, if they did.
Lincoln fought a war of torched earth in the South.
He had the constitution altered, after the Confederate States left legally, by the old (and last legal) constitution of the USA, making secession illegal. A nice move, since the delegates from the South never participated in this process of rewriting the constitution and would have prevented this from happening with there votes, because even without them, it was a close one for changing it.

To everyone who keeps saying that the flag is racist, and the Confederacy fought for slaves, explain why only 5% of the southern population owned slaves, how all of those slave owners were major plantation owners, why none of those plantation owners fought in the army, and why most of the Confederate soldiers were poor land owners (IE, could not afford slaves).

Somebody actually wrote "we will rise again". Lol, if you do, you will get your ass handed to you again. The flag IS racist, has always been racist and will always be racist. "Heritage ". Yup. A heritage of slave owners who fought a war for the right to own other people. Something for you to be proud of.

I think regardless of whether you see it as racist, I like this mod because I think these little patches that are more specific add character to your dudes. Would a more southern less rule oriented xcom operative put this patch on? probably.

I always fine it funny how people think the Flag of Confederate Army is racist when there several points saying other wise

one the soldiers for the most part were poor and did not own slaves they were sold on that war being to prevent government expansion and overstep

two some of Confederate Generals thought this was was a bad idea with slaves and that they should have free the slaves and then declared Interdependence

three Black Americans served in the Confederate army for the most part it was logistic and meal preparation but in the last few mounts of the war they allows black regiment to be formed there were three untrained regiment in Richmond training when the city fell

those three point say the army was not racist and thus this flag is not racist

however the stars and bars the flag that represented the government that kept slavery going during the war was racist and i am fine with that being forgotten to the sands of time
