For those wanting to have hacking not require AP, get the Hack Plus mod, there's a line called "+FreeAction=false" in the XComHackPlus.ini file, just change it to true, and you basically have this mod integrated in it, and Hack Plus has a WotC version

And if you dislike the bonus to hacking gained by every action done, you can simply change all values to 0, and you have vanilla hacking again ^^

I want to make something in a different direction of this mod. Like, make a standard shot cost 2 ap so you and the enemy can't run and shot in the same turn. In XCOM EU it was a sniper weapon properties eWP_MoveLimited. But it seems in XCOM 2 do I need to edit ability cost?

Mod doesn't work. Started turn last turn to get the item, ran my guy in and wonderfully I can't hack it because I don't have enough AP.

I took a look at your mod while starting to learn modding for XCOM 2 myself. Instead of overriding the class, have you tried to use a UIScreenListener to replace the X2AbilityTemplate? Inside UIScreenListener OnInit, I replaced the template by doing something like below:

local X2AbilityTemplateManager Manager;
local X2AbilityTemplate Template;

Manager = class'X2AbilityTemplateManager'.static.GetAbilityTemplateManager();
Template = class'HackPlus_X2Ability_DefaultAbilitySet'.static.FinalizeHack();
Manager.AddAbilityTemplate(Template, true);

Is it possible to instead give the unit +1 AP when he hacks from melee range? It would serve the same purpose but might get around the problem you are facing. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with this, and don't know if it would work but its just an idea.

Apologies, I cannot for the life of me find out why it's not working, or how to get it working :/ I tested it when I first released it, and it /did/ work, so I don't know what's happened! If anyone has experience overriding engine classes, please get in touch.

Oh well, Ill wait some more for a fix ... hopefuly it will come sooner rather than later, im almost done with my current playtrough and my next run at the game will be as modded as i can make it.

hasn't worked for me either since I installed it. I even started a fresh run. It happens on VIP doors, chests, ufo terminals etc. It's only a little upsetting since I cannot disable it now without starting another new run

Im not sure if its intended behavior or if its not working

Is it supposed to take a movement away from me?

For example, i go hack a terminal with full ap left, the run there takes 1, the terminal then takes another ap from me, and then im left with 0

Is this intended?

Premod: When you dash, that soldier becomes unselectable, and if he's the last soldier, it will end the turn and switch to the aliens. Does this get around that? e.g. by employing whatever method the Evac system uses to get around this? - I'm wondering if that's the cause of the below 3 poster's problems or if it's because of different kinds of hack.

Would like to add to the problem Jews and Exoeros are having. Same mission, dashing to the objective, and it won't let me hack. I've even reselected the character, and there aren't any prompts for me to hack with, with zero AP.

It just says hack. Attempt to breach secrutiy on an adjacent network or access point. Its on the converter overload mission i duno if since its a stroy mission (required) that its acting wonky?

Thanks for the reports guys, sorry it's not working for you - can you tell me the name of the hack ability? I.E. what does it say as the action you'll take when you activate the ability?

I'm currently running into the same issue as jews did 9/11. It wasn't a terminal, it was the first mission in which you get the weird engine thing. Ran up to it and still had AP to shoot or w.e and then hacked and afterwards it switched to another character. I tried a early attempt while using both AP to dash to it and it switched to the next character. Just for dummy sake I checked to see if I had ticked the marker on and it was.

I cant seem to get this to work. I dash to the hack spot but dont get the hack choice and it just switches to another character.

@Paul - LordShotGun is correct, mod's don't disable achievements. I wouldn't call this a cheat though!

@CalebGV - Correct! This applies to physical hacks only, the specialist should be unchanged.

I will seriously have to try this later. It feels like such a dickmove that hacking uses up a turn.
