Hi, I have done some building on this map.. but one thing I think its missing is the ice rink, im not the greatest builder / designer, so I was wondering, could you make the Coventry Skydome (home to the Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Team) and could you please upload it to the Steam workshop?

OOww having lived in Coventry for several years I have to give this one ago! Sounds awesome.
Just down the road in Northampton now, keep thinking I want to make a Map of Northamptonshire, but no idea how I would start.

Just started a new series using this map, loving it so far https://youtu.be/zC5GQdz0PHk

@Zelden i wish there was a more detailed map of st austell in cornwall , its got some interesting landscapes around it from all the quarry pits dug

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it seems the data for UK areas is severely lacking. Maps I've imported end up covered in lines through the terrain or rough areas that aren't anything like what they're supposed to be.

Fingers crossed for a Cities Skylines 2 which has more acomodating UK themes

I generally made the basis of my maps with the terrain in port map tools. I then softened it a lot as it generally doesn't produce a map that is playable. I then tweak stuff manually and usually make the rivers myself. It is generally a faff, hence why I have not made any more maps for some time. I did enjoy making them though. i do think it is hard to get the intricacies of the English countryside in Cities Skylines though.

What tools/method do you use to get the map data semi-accurate?

I've been trying to make York (UK) for ages and can't get a decent terrain map despite trying several methods.
Wizbix  [author] 4 Sep, 2018 @ 2:41am
Hah, it certainly is not.

Can you make a map of Stratford-Upon-Avon? It's only down the road from Cov lol. Thanks :D

Thank you for creating this.

jlsqqu 29 Jan, 2018 @ 12:41pm
You should make a map of Shrewsbury, Its a great town. :) And this is a great map! Keep up with the excellent work.
silaslancashire 8 Nov, 2017 @ 12:11pm

If you have problems with back flow with pollution... it might be worth placing the sewage out lets where the real life water works are situated. That can be found on a satalite map or google earth image of Coventry.
Dawn_Jushi 24 Jan, 2016 @ 7:04pm
happy to hear that. Anyway , it is a bit hard for me to write or read English, so ...
Wizbix  [author] 20 Jan, 2016 @ 2:03pm
I had thopught thast the sewage would go down the river after where both rivers meet up as it is in real life.
Wizbix  [author] 20 Jan, 2016 @ 2:02pm
ah okay, well i am happy to take suggestions...
BrynCoops 20 Jan, 2016 @ 1:01pm
There's other lakes you could shove your sewage systems into, although they're a bit far from the starting square...
Wizbix  [author] 20 Jan, 2016 @ 8:49am
Yes that was all ready pointed out earlier on.
Dawn_Jushi 20 Jan, 2016 @ 7:40am
@Wizbix If I put the sweage system at the downstream , the waste water will backflow to the upstream .
Wizbix  [author] 20 Jan, 2016 @ 6:12am
@Dawn_Jushi are you sure? the sea level should be quite low and there is a fesh water spawn of 100 in there.
Dawn_Jushi 20 Jan, 2016 @ 1:03am
unable to get fresh water from the lake
BrynCoops 19 Jan, 2016 @ 7:39am
@Wizbix I'll take a look, and if none are good enough i'll just try myself (which could end up taking a year or two...)
Wizbix  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 7:37am
@PonyMasterBryn Their is a leciester map, I haven't given it much of a view, not created by me though. I could always one day give it a go. If there are any requests to do with it I'd be happy to consider them, but no promises, :-).
Wizbix  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 7:36am
@ PonyMasterBryn Ahh you'd br right. I deleberatly left most of bedowrth out due to the scale. I wanted to leave enough area for exhall and the bayton road industrial estate though as I figured they would be important. I turned most of that area in to fields in stead to make it look realistic but not necesserily true to life.
BrynCoops 19 Jan, 2016 @ 7:27am
...now we just need Leicester...:hardhat:
BrynCoops 19 Jan, 2016 @ 7:25am
@Wizbix The only reason I got the map was cuz I live there...but was sad to see no development around the Bedworth / Hawkesbury Village area. (Still a good map tho)
Wizbix  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 6:56am
@PonyMasterBryn lol, I live there. As I have said, this game does not allow complete accuracy, so all maps are characatures of the real thing.
BrynCoops 19 Jan, 2016 @ 6:30am
After a rather extensive analysis of this map, I have but one question. Have you ever actually been to Coventry?
Wizbix  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 6:10am
@AntelopeSam Thanks. I did experiment a bit and it was difficult given the scale of the map. What I ended up with is not 100% accurate but more or less as good as I could get it. I even managed to plant a few treest and bushes that do exist in real life along it.
AntelopeSam 18 Jan, 2016 @ 12:29pm
Tried making my own coventry ringroad... yours is better by far haha
unlicensed alcoholic 18 Jan, 2016 @ 10:06am
Well, I'm definitely excited for the next map of yours. I think these are pretty fun to play on.
Wizbix  [author] 18 Jan, 2016 @ 1:00am
@bicyclist goat! Thanks again. As I have said, I enjoy making the maps but there would be little point if no one subscribed and used them. I do feel that they are the most realistic UK based maps on steam at present, but that is just my opinion. I do plan to make more and hopefully revamp a couple of my previous ones. The Birmingham leaves a lot to be diseried, but at the time I was still tryiong to grasp the water mechaniscs which are very fiddly.
unlicensed alcoholic 17 Jan, 2016 @ 6:53pm
Honestly, I don't think it's an issue, more of an interesting challenge I've never really encountered in any other map (though I haven't played too many) It's more realistic, it's an interesting challenge, and it IS solvable (proof: I did). But yeah, nice map! I like that you can start your city in various places, and how there are some baseline roads scattered throughout. I think you did a wonderful job with all of this. :steamhappy:
Wizbix  [author] 17 Jan, 2016 @ 2:39pm
I am wondering if the rivers need to be deeper? I am currently doing a map of Northampton. There is a river flowing through it and one major tributtary and quite a few reservoirs. However the river is also shallow...
Wizbix  [author] 17 Jan, 2016 @ 2:37pm
@ bicyclist goat! Thanks for the feed back. i have to admit I have not actually builty a city on this map. To be honest I enjoy making the maps more than the buildings. The river is small in real life. There is a water works on one of the rivers some where. It's difficult to make a map that is realistic and usable in game. I can re look at it though and I will take criticism and suggestions. I liked making this map and enjoy the idea that a lot of people have subscribed to it. Hmm, what to do about that river though... It was difficult making it all flow in the right direction. There are numerous water sources with quite high levels of water. The river is shallow though, as it is in reality.
unlicensed alcoholic 17 Jan, 2016 @ 11:30am
Great map, it's nice playing here, but since the river is small, either the sewage makes the river flow backwards into your water (and fowards the other way), but if you dam the waterpump off, it floods the city. I like the challenge, though.
BrynCoops 17 Jan, 2016 @ 8:18am
This is great, I live in Coventry so I'm definately using this.
nikolavrj 11 Jan, 2016 @ 10:07am

Good evening! As you in the map editor can make an ordinary road (not highway)?
