No Suez Canal or Cape of Good Hope is pretty disappointing, unless the map wraps it's impossible to sail from Europe to Asia

I basically never leave comments about any mods, but I must say that this is personally my favorite map by far!

This is a great map of enormous size. I enjoyed it. But I notcied if you install this map it will remove some of the Civs from the list. That means some Civs will be out of the game as long as this map is an active mod.

No Suez Canal :(

Great

Mostly good map, but the water placement is very inaccurate. No Dnieper bend and both the Don and Volga seem to have been omitted completely, and way, way, way too many lakes and oases.

I know I'm really late here but is there any way to fix the missing textures that start to pop up after a while due to memory issues? I've got 32gbs of ram in my system so I should be fine but it crashes around 2-300 turns in.

is it round tho, that is the question

Very satisfying map! However, I'd like to ask - is it compatible with City States? (I have played for 70 turns just fine with 22 civ's and 41 (max) city states - however after 71 turns the game gets stuck on processing the city-states turns (doesn't respond ever). Thanks.

That is one of the best maps i've eve seen!

@Eleos The Suez "canal" is built by putting a city down on the one tile between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. You ships can then pass through the city tile freely from one ocean to the other. The canal is not a buildable improvement or anything.
Eleos 20 Jun, 2016 @ 11:51am
i'm sorry, I cannot figure out how to complete the Suez Canal. I have a city on the hex where it looks like it would go, but I don't know how to tell it to happen. I am up to Computers in tech, so I am guessing I have the prerequisites at ths point. Thanks!

Love this map, exceptional work!

Would you ever consider making a scaled down version of this map? Maybe in a couple of different sizes?

On a side note, and I don't know if this concerns the map; when I try to play the Anno Domini mod with this map there's a kind of glitch where only half of the civilizations that I select are spawning and no ancient ruins appear.

Other times no resources appear at all, this might be a combination of some factors so I don't necessarily think it has anything to do with the map.

Anyway, great job. +1

Is anyone having memory issues while using this map? I've got a full 8 gigs of RAM and an 15-4590, and Civ only uses about 2 gigs while I'm playing this, but Windows still moans at me that "your computer is low on memory". Is anyone else having this problem or is it another one of my mods?

@Errius WHoward's DLL mods aren't on steam workshop, look 'em up on google and you should find them. As for putting mods into civ5 manually, go to Documents/Sid Meiers Civilization 5 and there shoudl be a MODS folder. Drop the dll in, load up civ5 and activate it.
Erius 28 Nov, 2015 @ 4:18am
hello again, and sorry for all those questions :/
i think all i need to know is which other mod to load (not the dll names) to get it running with 22+ civs. when i search for such mods i always end with the YnAEMP mod
fortysw4rm  [author] 23 Nov, 2015 @ 12:30pm
@Erius, please explain how you couldn't get it to work so I can help out. Also, considering the DLL mod is not my origional work, it's not mine to decide whether I can include it or not.
Erius 23 Nov, 2015 @ 12:23pm
i also didn't get it to work :(
@40sw4rm: can you not include the dll in your mod? (nooby question)
i would so like to play it with 40+ civs
OutlawedDrifter 22 Nov, 2015 @ 5:22pm
the dll mod that increases amount of civs from Whoward is not compatibel with CP. do you know anther civ increaing mod?
fortysw4rm  [author] 22 Nov, 2015 @ 11:55am
@NickyBoom are you using the Lua script or the .civ5map file? Lua scripts will have the TSL indicator in the name.
NickyBoom 22 Nov, 2015 @ 3:44am
Only just installed this. I selected England.. but im not on a map of england, and other countries surrounding me on same mass of land. doesnt even look like earth so far..
How should i have the scenero settings in order for this to work?
fortysw4rm  [author] 21 Nov, 2015 @ 2:11pm
@allmighty, check out the TSL thread for that. If you need further assistance let me know in there. I'm hoping the instructions are easy to follow. Also, if you could list which modded civ you're trying to use that isn't TSL supported, it will help in getting them supported with an update without having to manually do it yourself.

@Erius, this map was tested with WHoward's DLL [www.picknmixmods.com] for 34/43/62 civs. I would recommend using that mod. Glad you're enjoying the map! Let me know if you need any further assistance with it.
Erius 21 Nov, 2015 @ 9:31am
i played a game with 22 civs, and it was amazing! thanks for the great work!
however, when i try it to run together with YnAEMP DLL 34 or 43, it always crashes when i want to start the game.
are you guys using another mod than those 2 mentioned above to play that maps with >22 civs?
thanks for help!:steamhappy:
Unmanned Pickle 21 Nov, 2015 @ 9:19am
How do you make it so you can play as modded civs that aren't supported automatically with this mod?
Borklund 21 Nov, 2015 @ 5:41am
Awesome, thanks!
fortysw4rm  [author] 20 Nov, 2015 @ 9:44pm
Figured out the logistics for Indonesia TSL [i.imgur.com] w/ Medan as the capital.
Borklund 19 Nov, 2015 @ 1:49pm
Oh, right. Well in that case then why not just remove Indonesia altogether. It's not a playable faction, yet it is selectable.
fortysw4rm  [author] 19 Nov, 2015 @ 1:40pm
@Jeelen, I can assure you there was nothing as well thought out as that theory. I'm pretty sure I just left sugar out inadvertently. I'll look into making sure some appears this weekend with the update.

@Borklund/Vinnix, considering Jakarta and the second largest city of Surabaya is on the island of Java--which is not represented on the map, they were left out. However, considering there appears to be a large desire to have them included, I will look into editing their XML to have their capital city name changed to Medan and assign them a start location of Northwestern Sumatra.
Borklund 19 Nov, 2015 @ 6:31am
@Vinnix Same here. Can we please get a fix?
Zerno 18 Nov, 2015 @ 10:02pm
Theer have been a problem with Indonesia, everytime I try to play it, it just says you lose the game
JEELEN 18 Nov, 2015 @ 9:46pm
@40sw4rm I noticed 2 things: Ethiopia seems to be all flatland (ir's mostly hilly) and I've been unable to find any sugar. In particular all sugar on flood plains seems to have been replaced by oases. I have no clue why. To handicap flood plain civs?
Erna, The X-Statsminister 18 Nov, 2015 @ 8:48am
@40sw4rm Well, i do see that Norway is difficult making, as there are Fjords everywhere. Most people overdo the biggest fjord (Sognefjorden, The big "Stick" in the west) so that it looks awful, making it simple is probably the trick
RedInc 18 Nov, 2015 @ 6:26am
Okay, I'll try that.
Merkwürdigliebe 17 Nov, 2015 @ 8:02pm
Thank you
fortysw4rm  [author] 17 Nov, 2015 @ 7:45pm
I'll go ahead and include this [www.dropbox.com] as another alternate version of the map in the next patch. You'll need to place this in your: Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps folder for it to show up as a selectable map. Enjoy!
Merkwürdigliebe 17 Nov, 2015 @ 7:13pm
The two desert tiles east of the grassland on the nile are what I would like removed if you could. I think there will be many others who would appreciate this because it would allow navies to be used across the world.

I can provide screenshot if you really need it.
fortysw4rm  [author] 17 Nov, 2015 @ 7:04pm
@Dr. Strangelove, the problem would be that the TSL maps in this mod are Lua scripts that depend on code for tile placement, not the .civ5map file that you would load up in SDK. You could in theory edit the .civ5map file via SDK but you wouldn't have the TSL support that is supported by the Lua script. You would also have to place the start locations for what civs you want and load the map up as a scenario. Keep in mind though, you would lose the ability to go beyond 22 civilizations in total (not counting city states). With that said, I'm willing to help you out, if you could provide a screenshot via Steam messenger and clearly highlight/circle which tiles you want to remove (and for which Lua script), I could look into providing you a custom Lua for it.
fortysw4rm  [author] 17 Nov, 2015 @ 7:03pm
@RedInc, copy the .civ5mod file that you downloaded to your: Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS folder (assuming you have windows). When you launch Civilization V, navigate to mods and wait for the file to be extracted by the game. Just an FYI, sometimes the file doesn’t extract correctly and you may need to copy it to your MODS folder again if it doesn't pop up the first time.
Merkwürdigliebe 17 Nov, 2015 @ 6:49pm
Would it be possible for me to load the map in world builder remove two tiles near Suez and still have the map work correctly? It's just that the AI can't be relied on to make a found on Suez so there is a canal.
RedInc 17 Nov, 2015 @ 6:47pm
Thanks for the fast response, but I is still confused. When I went to your link and downloaded it I got a .mod file, and to be honest I have no idea what I am supposed to do with it. Am I supposed to open it with something? Thanks.
fortysw4rm  [author] 17 Nov, 2015 @ 5:52pm
@RedInc, No worries! WHoward's DLL [www.picknmixmods.com] for 34/43/62 civs is what I would wholeheartedly recommend to increase the number of civs you can play (and has been tested to work with the mod).
RedInc 17 Nov, 2015 @ 5:39pm
This may seem like a noob question, but where can one find a DLL mod that increases the number of civs you can play?
fortysw4rm  [author] 17 Nov, 2015 @ 5:17pm
@thebatjoker20, please post in the bug reports discussion thread with the details. I'll need to know what kind of mods you're using, what map script in particular you’re trying to play on and whatever else you can provide that would be relevant to help with troubleshooting the crash.
