'Menus' under game settings has to be set to HUD
Maybe ill make a light and heavy version even if i have the time.
Have you maybe noticed that any unnecessary speech appeared which blocks ui access or annoying otherwise?
[] 0.00 No matching node for path '(//add_npc_line[@line='1253'])[1]' in patch file 'extensions\silenceyouall\md\boarding.xml'. Skipping node.
[General] 0.00 ======================================
Smalltalk is not changed.
If you only want to remove the trade complete info message then only keep the aiscripts folder.
Now I downloaded and modified it, works well, but I think the name of my modded version should be 'FasterShopping':
I deleted everything that remove npc_line, only those lines with `@hidechoices` and `[@line='12']` remains. I tried to make the crew farewell no longer blocking the UI while keep the voice but failed, so I leave it as it was. The good news is that I don't fire someone often so that won't be a big problem.
As a result, the modded version is no longer silence anything except line 12, `good bye` of traders which makes exiting shopping faster
But this still saves TONs of time (when resupply missiles, mostly), thanks for your tip again!
content.xml
ext_01.cat
ext_01.dat
Many lines in that .cat file like:
md/GM_Cache_Sale.xml 268 1447547218 f41486022c757f8a405e1f7cf4e86e92
md/GM_Clear_Explosives.xml 580 1447547218 df0977cb624964e3c8e3e98c9be4f831
md/GM_Collect_Crafted_Item.xml 1045 1447547218 5899ece57680e311235a8247a7c94035
md/GM_Collect_Loot.xml 970 1447547220 34edfd71cde245633a4b2bd6687f841b
The content of .dat file seems like plain xml file.
Can I just delete corresponding lines in "ext_01.cat"?
Do I have to delete corresponding contents in "ext_01.dat" too?
Download the version from egosoft forums, and you will find many files in the 'md' folder named like NPC_Licencetrader.xml, NPC_Upgradetrader.xml etc.
Just remove the ones for which you would like to keep the voice and its done.
Unsubscribe from the steam version, so your modified package will not be overwritten with the one from steam.
Greeting & chatting in every purchasing is OK for me and I think it's sort of immersive
I really hope there is a 'Lite' version that only removes the conversions that blocks UI control (e.g. the farewell after firing a crew, the conversion after closing the quest detail)
Unfortunately voice playback stops you from accessing the UI (even the next choice in the convo).
Also subtitles are linked to voice playback length.
I think the only way would be to use the hint feature and skip audio entirely if one wants to get rid of all the waiting.
It would look worse, and would have to be silent - not sure it makes sense to do that.
I check on it later, if a simple modification can be used that does not involve reentering all the text (as the game text files dont contain the full speech, just a hint that is often even misleading), then i might make a separate mod out of it.
Download the version from EGO forum because that contains the separate files, the steam version merges all the files into the .dat file.
Plus there is a hash for each contained file in the .cat, which would cause the whole mod to redownload and reset on first load after you touch it.
If you mean your assets crying about being attacked, those are not silenced either (but control is possible).
Anyway even if the audio is skipped, the UI will wait and not allow you to respond again.. you can only control the skunk or ren but not access the UI while the voice would play.
It would be possible to rewrite the whole thing to only show subtitles and allow the next choice immediately, but its a lot of work and wont make smalltalk any better, just quicker.
And the quickest is to not smalltalk, but use some mods instead.
I found that useful on several occasions when heading into hostile zones, it saved quite a few of my trade ships already xD
You can silence it easily though, just expand Notifications.xml with this line (add it just before the </diff> line):
<remove sel="(//speak[@actor='player.copilot' and @line='[10240, 10243].random'])[1]"/>
This is the single most annoying thing left for me in game,cant understand why it wasnt removed?
(turn menu to hud, and l2r a few lines of text)
@Flybyloot: is it possible there was a patch and ES added a voiceover there?
Anyone has this issue who plays vanilla?
I'd guess flybylooting does something more/different that seta doesn't like.
is a good mod that you have
If you experience a different behaviour please let me know - that is considered a bug.
Also removed the ready to take on wares/deal struck here nonsense that got introduced since i last checked. Where do these things keep coming from...o,O
Game should be much more SETA friendly now.
Since i had to rework parts of the money transfer code, i also added the station name to the log message. It's likely that SYA cancels out any similar features of other mods.
@Zapper: Thanks for the suggestions, for now i have no time to code a proper UI for this.
Still, this update should fix most issues you mentioned.
Hope noone will miss the UI toggle, dont think the possibility for budget interaction made much sense when receiving the surplus - and SYA provides more info then vanilla by telling you the station name as wel...
However, in my large empire, there's still a "LOT" going on that would be good if SYA also addressed:
- Rep Gains {toggleable - ON/OFF}.
- Rep Losses { toggleable - ON/OFF, or by faction}.
- Payment Received HUD interruptions.
- Suggestion: configurable by a min amount. I have a $5B Empire. I dont care if someone deposits or withdraws 5K., etc.
- HUD interuptions and soundtracks coming from factory managers when they report they "made a profit" and asking to deposit into your account.
- Perhaps make this configurable as well.
- Debt withdrawal notifications coming from factories or tradeships. {configuable}
- Trade Complete messages. {configuable on a per-cap-trade-ship basis?}
- Messages coming from the popular "auto-trade" mods.
- Account updated message (similar to Withdrawal/payment received above}.
- Perhaps 'add' a CAP SHIP destroyed message.?
TZ.
It's much better to turn the menu setting to hud. That also solves the issue of getting motion sickness from ren turning his head every time when the game menus are accessed.
..so to reiterate again for people struggling with eyesight issues or other problems:
TURN MENU OPTION TO HUD.
<remove sel="(//add_npc_line[@line='1130'])[1]"/>
<remove sel="(//add_npc_line[@line='1110'])[1]"/>
<remove sel="(//add_npc_line[@line='4119'])[1]"/>
and was able to see skills of NPCs again with Side Bar. Other conversation options are unaffected. NPCs respond silently to your requests, except when asking to see their skills.
Or simply use HUD menus instead of Side Bar as the author has suggested.
Plot is unaffected ofc.
it's something else on my end
