crazy to think that these are actually implemented into the vanilla game now

I also prefer just the single block, as I don't want or need the clutter of all the other added tanks in the other mod.

I had no idea this was out, apologies. I am adding you to the description of my tanks, due to your support of my mod :)

i like this mod because this is the only smaller block i was looking for

Hey guys, I'm probably going to be discontinuing this mod due to this awesome mod that renders it obsolete:
OCD - Compact Storage Tanks
OCD - (Balanced) Compact Storage Tanks

I'll leave it on the workshop indefinitely so that I don't bork your saves by removing it.
VS-lockon 18 May, 2016 @ 7:34am
Can you fix the coloring yet?
Engi 23 Apr, 2016 @ 4:46pm
I'm ok with the disadvantage of the smaller ones being heavier because that is realistic. If you built 13 tanks that held the same volume as one large tank, they would not weigh the same at all, not even close. The volume of the small tank may be 13.5 times less than the large tank but the surface area (majority of the mass of the cylindrical tank) is only 5.4 times less. So It should have a mass of about 1500kg, not 3 times less than that.

I don't actually need a large tanks worth of hydrogen on my ship because it is not hydrogen powered, I just need it for my jetpack and maybe to fill up the occasional small hydrogen ship. So I don't need to devide up that total volume among a bunch of tanks. However, if I did, the masses should much higher for each tank. It isn't as simple as dividing the mass the way you did the volume. They are not the same.

How is this op? If you build as many of these as you'd need to equal the storage of the large hydrogen tank, then you would end up spending more materials, seems balanced to me. If I made it the same as the o2 tanks there'd be no sense in building them because it would be insanely cheaper to build the large hydrogen tanks.
Engi 23 Apr, 2016 @ 12:13pm
It just seems like not enough weight and integrity compared to an identical O2 tank. It weighs significantly less than the same size O2 tank. Also, when you make something bigger you generally get an economy of scale so that propotionally it requires less materials as it gets bigger. Say it is 13 times bigger, it will not require 13 times more components and mass. So when you go the other way, as you did in scalling this down, it would weigh 13 times less and use 13 times less compenents. You loose the economy of scale which makes this OP. I really like realism in SE and I can't find a hydrogen tank this size that keeps similar stats as the O2 tank.
Captain_Brian  [author] 23 Apr, 2016 @ 11:14am
I based the resources on the large hydrogen tank instead. So it roughly uses the same % of components vs capacity of the larger tank. (Though it still uses mote components so it's more efficient to build the larger tanks.)

If I would've based it on the oxygen tank it would have been too cost prohibitive to build these vs the large tank. You normally only build 1 or 2 oxygen tanks but need dozens of these to be viable.
Engi 22 Apr, 2016 @ 3:28pm
I just noticed that it uses significantly less components than the same size O2 tank. What is the logic behind that?
maulkye 16 Mar, 2016 @ 9:32pm
It was survival, with the tanks connected to each other and no oxygen generator (deconstructed it to be sure).

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'll just keep checking on it as more stuff gets fixed by Keen.
Captain_Brian  [author] 16 Mar, 2016 @ 6:36pm
@maulkye Is that on creative? Creative will do stuff like that if you have any oxygen generators powered. If that's in vanilla then it is likely a keen bug as the code for this object is that same as th larger tank but with smaller capacity. The other small tank mods probably did the same thing.
maulkye 16 Mar, 2016 @ 6:01pm
When I drain the H from a large (vanilla) tank at 100% into this small tank, and then back to determine relative capacity, the small tank starts automatically filling itself once it nears empty, despite no other sources of H or H generation.

Note that this happens with another compact H tank I've tried.

Is this a known Keen bug?
Tarshish 2 Mar, 2016 @ 1:23pm
I agree with @maoman . Could you also create a very small version with decreased capacity and a 1 by 2 by 1 size?
Maoman 28 Jan, 2016 @ 12:22pm
Do you think you can do something similar for small ships? The cylinder oxygen tank you used for its model has a small-ship version which is 5x5x5 small blocks, but this hydrogen tank mod cannot be used on small ships. Can you do the same thing for the small-ship version?
Captain_Brian  [author] 24 Jan, 2016 @ 7:35pm
Well, technically at least. I used some of the oxygen tank .dds files when I made this so I didn't have to actually re-create the model and it worked perfectly fine when I originally released this, so they must have changed something having to do with those. I suck with modelling, so it might be awhile before I'm able to learn all that and re-create the mod to fix it. Unless someone is able to suggest a quicker fix?
Galenmacil 24 Jan, 2016 @ 7:25pm
KSH and their "updates" ;)
Captain_Brian  [author] 24 Jan, 2016 @ 7:22pm
Not dead, sorry guys. It wasn't doing it before, so I'm not sure what keen changed that's causing it, but for not it's not colorable until I figure it out.
Galenmacil 24 Jan, 2016 @ 2:49pm
Same problem. Hydrogen shows over Oxygen. Dead mod?
Stone Cold Jane Austen 23 Dec, 2015 @ 4:09am
I'm running DX11 and the texture has a problem: if I leave it coloured the default grey, then the text HYDROGEN is visible. If I change the colour then it shows as OXYGEN with HYDROGEN only faintly visible.

Bug Report:
there are 2 models, the one with out the H on the icon dose not work...
Good mod! its come in really handy filling out smaller large ships with H2 ^-^ where 3x3x3 space is not a possibility....

@Captain_Brian , check out Mexpex's Small Ship Mega Mod Pack for some insight on balancing -- it contains a 1x1x2 oxygen tank for small ships as well as oxygen generator (also 1x1x2) among many others!

thedoctor3141 14 Nov, 2015 @ 12:01am
If you could do a 1x1x2 small ship version that would be great :)
SEMTEX 10 Nov, 2015 @ 4:20pm
Both Please :D Thank You
Bergmann 5 Nov, 2015 @ 7:33am
Why not both?
Captain_Brian  [author] 4 Nov, 2015 @ 3:32pm
What do you guys want for small ships?

I've got a 5x5x10 version working which is the same exact size at the large ship version, or I could possibly do a 3x3x6 but that would be a lot more work...

Also, we'd have to figure out a good balance for the stats, would it be based on the current small ship hydrogen tank or based on the large which would require rebalancing the stock small ship one?

Let me know guys, glad y'all are enjoying it!
SEMTEX 4 Nov, 2015 @ 12:06pm
Small Ships Please !!! :)
Kateye 3 Nov, 2015 @ 1:03am
Thank you. The vanilla hydrogen tank is huge, and I only want the hydrogen stored for my suit.
LookAtMyHorse 2 Nov, 2015 @ 10:03pm
[nitpick]vanilla hydrogen tank is cylindrical too[/nitpick]

look at this modder, he knows what the community wants! Huzzah!
Greyson XMG 1 Nov, 2015 @ 11:47am
Very nice. How about a large OX tank? And a Huge Hy tank?
Crimson Revenant 1 Nov, 2015 @ 10:38am
Time to stuff every spare nook and cranny of my ship with these XD
TX / Paddan 1 Nov, 2015 @ 8:54am
Nice... been waiting a week for someone to make a decent sized hydrogen tank, instead of the enormus vanilla one.
GAMEtatron 1 Nov, 2015 @ 2:09am
This is awesome! I'm hoping for a small ship version as well. :)
Ravenbolt 1 Nov, 2015 @ 1:14am
Man, why didn't think of this?! :P Matches so well with the rest! I can easily just replace a few of the oxytanks in my current builds. Well done!

Can we expect a small ship version with this model? 3x3x6 and 1x1x2?
Captain_Brian  [author] 31 Oct, 2015 @ 11:33pm
DX11, it works in DX9 too but the DX9 texture has a few artifacts I'm not happy with.
Seigen 31 Oct, 2015 @ 11:24pm
DX11 and/or DX9?
