Can you make it so the Scythian Hoplite Hexeres and the Bosphoran Marines Hexeres are both recruitable? I'd like both preferably. Thanks

I didn't think Tylis would stand a chance at some playthroughs I've seen, there aren't many people I have seen playing as Tylis, but if you let some changes be optional, I would definitely use and give Tylis another chance. And as far as I know, your mods always deliver, I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it :)
Roque the Rogue 26 Oct, 2015 @ 12:29pm
I must really practice concentration, my reading is left desired sometimes, excuse my mistake :P

You don't need to actually change that much, I mean, yeah.. they could still be celts for the blatantly sake of being celts in a area alien to them. I meant by that, some reskins, new units to reflect the ongoin wars new reform techs, with trade maybe mixed blood units with Thracians, Bythinians and even some makedonians new armors and weapons, I thought they would at least attempt to learn from their enemies, improve their army a bit, but nay, stay true to ya roots and steamroll all the area, from italy to egypt with your chosen blablas and barbarian do-well infantry, if it weren't for Galatia

Awesome work, as usual! :D
Cataph  [author] 26 Oct, 2015 @ 4:35am
Woah woah woah, I said "latest", not "last"! But I do appreciate the vote of confidence. :D

About the ideas: I do have something remotely in mind about the Balkans. The problem with Tylis, for example, is that like the other Celts their "barbarian ways" mean that an unimaginative gameplay allows you to just obliterate your foes into the ground with chosen swords et similia or - gods forbid - OPsworns. They would require a quite intrusive mod and I'm not sure most people would like that.

Seriously? your last release? you can't stop there, I won't allow you... you must keep publishing your work, its neatly done, professional. How about publishing now, small bits? complete rework of factions to make it seem like they were supposed to be? I mean, in the Balkan tribes, I never play as Tylis, they're just a copy-paste Celtic tribe, I thought that years of war with the Makedonians, Thracian invasions and trade with Bythinia, Cimmeria and Pontus would give them some edge, their own hoplites/equipment and hellenised armors, no.. they kept their barbarians ways no matter what, cleaning their grand-grand-grandfathers armors and reusing them against polished, modern makedonian pikes, no wonder AI always manages to beat them.

Sadly I can't do much about the nomad rosters. Also consider that from an 'evolutionary' point of view a functional hybrid is always superior to the parent, as it were. It's only natural that the Bosporans, with good infantry coupled with nomadic horsemen, are strategically better off than the Saka and the Sarmatians (who both have stronger royal guards). Think about Athens and the Seleucids: nobody in a sane frame of mind would dream of thinking that a hybrid empire should be even vaguely inferior to an obsolete poleis.
This considered, I really appreciate your feedback and I will keep thinking about a way to improve balance without gimping anyone.
mini_lancer 24 Oct, 2015 @ 6:25am
that is a fair point though i'm inclined to think that the nomads would have become more sedentary by that point in time, meaning that recruitment of these units would be more difficult? As things stand Bosporan has unlimited access to Roxolani's roster, which somewhat undermine the point of playing as the latter. Though i fully understand the problem of balancing hybrid factions :)
Cataph  [author] 24 Oct, 2015 @ 5:38am
I'm gonna do some testing. I'd rule an aor out for now since I feel like by the time you fought your way out of the black sea area your sarmatian/scythian wing is by then integrated in the army. And it would be unfair with all the armies that have foreign troops in them.
mini_lancer 24 Oct, 2015 @ 3:19am
This is awesome xp really love the new stuff esp the building and tech modification :) though i think Bosparan Kingdom is quite overpowered, roster wise they are better than all the steppe factions now, maybe restricting the steppe calvary using AOR or increasing the upkeep for these units? Nevertheless great job! Love this :)
