Since yesterday i'm coming back to T5, watched at Steam workshop for something nice, and spotted your artful map/mission collection. Finally, today i will try a first one ... Sheppards Island.
P.S. Myselfa modder, i can imagine what workload went into your story-based maps. Thanks a lot!
(P.S. All your counts are actually quite low. There's probably a lot more that you haven't found yet. I took great care to hide resources really well to make exploration rewarding.)
1. Build a library. Hahahahaha. Where? Do I have to spend 20 minutes of microsearches for every building?
2. Ok, there are some open spaces. Lets build new cities there. Oh. Cannot build a road there. I need to go around. Oh. I need to watch my soldiers exploring for 20 minutes so I can just start making my own choices ? Really?
As a good game designer, you should include difficult and challenging parts in your maps, fair point. But you create "challenge" by taking opportunities. 100k start gold but no place to spend it? Haha. Funny. In order to play this map, you need to know where to scout, which boils down to early trial and error. This is unrewarding. This feels annoying to play on. With every task I have been given, I felt a great urge to just not bother with it. And thats what I am doing. I am uninstalling.
OK, schwer soll sie ja sein - aber das ist nicht schwer, das ist nervtötend.
The best map I have play yet.
I don't recall the exact number, but Sheppards Island allows you to build at least 10 docks or so. Be sure to fit them in tightly.
Anyway, that there are 93 out there who play this game like I do is inspiring. And the reason I'm keeping at it: once we cross the 100 ratings threshold, I'll post the next map. And you can't make it any bigger than that next map. You'll see..
Apparently you missed the "falafel" reference in the "How To Play Sheppards Island" guide. I appreciate you didn't rate this mission down simply because it doesn't fit your playstyle. I would advise against playing any of the maps in my collection, because none of them will.
There is a way to get a roadway through to the church though.
It's a feature of Tropico 5 that some might have missed, but if you look very closely at the small navigation map in the lower left corner of the game screen, little white dots on that map give hints where deposits/resources might be located.
Taking that into account, "Sheppards Island" is set up to not add any in-game dialogue, so you can enjoy a clean Sanbox play with only the vanilla storylines. The giant custom map certainly is worth it. If you want an added challenge, take on the twelve quests from the "Sheppards Island" storyline saved as add-on above.
