Are you supposed to be notified when you complete one of the quests? I had Lord Oaksworth congratulate me and extend my mandate for seemingly no reason right after the first ship with colonists arrived. It only happened once though, and I can't reproduce it even if I open up a new save

This map is a contender for the G.O.A.T. This is my style of play in a map, essentially.

Ohh, and a tip or rather desire: Make the quest-"logbook" available as pdf/download.

Excellent! Tropico modding art, deserves much more appreciation.
Since yesterday i'm coming back to T5, watched at Steam workshop for something nice, and spotted your artful map/mission collection. Finally, today i will try a first one ... Sheppards Island.
P.S. Myselfa modder, i can imagine what workload went into your story-based maps. Thanks a lot!

Re: Uranium. It's a scarce and powerful endgame resource, so you're likely to only find it in very remote locations. Try high up in mountainous terrain. It won't be easy to get to, and even harder to mine.
The World is a Sandbox  [author] 20 Apr, 2019 @ 12:56am
No resource should be missing. It's been a long time since I posted this, but I can promise you that I wouldn't have forgotten Uranium. That was a very carefully balanced map. You'll find it sooner or later...
(P.S. All your counts are actually quite low. There's probably a lot more that you haven't found yet. I took great care to hide resources really well to make exploration rewarding.)

Theres no Uran on this map, is this right? But 2x Iron, 1 gold, 1 bauxit, 1 coal - so i can stop scanning if thats all

I played Tropico 5 for a good year - and eventually ran out of maps that challenged me; unfortunately, the randomly generated maps are just meh: blobs without peaks, valleys or reasons to get creative. This map is for experienced players; and I think it represents real life to a degree: while humans control powerful tools, ultimately with all our technology, we still have to adapt our plans to fit nature's prerogatives. The $100k budget is there for a reason: you should feel free to experiment, and have a margin for error. If you don't get the road right the first time, you should have enough money to do it better on second try.

Note: there are more than 100 people who managed to tame this world - and left me a note saying as much. So it can be done. I try to point out in the remarks to this map: this map is for someone like me (and those 100+ real engineers), who after a year of perfecting Tropico 5 skills ran out of challenges. This is not a map for noobs. Or those who like to build cookie-cutter megalopolises. Actually, this is the very worst map to do that with. I hope reading this exchange helps you not waste your time.

I do not want to be rough on you. But what the hell is the point of the map?
1. Build a library. Hahahahaha. Where? Do I have to spend 20 minutes of microsearches for every building?
2. Ok, there are some open spaces. Lets build new cities there. Oh. Cannot build a road there. I need to go around. Oh. I need to watch my soldiers exploring for 20 minutes so I can just start making my own choices ? Really?
As a good game designer, you should include difficult and challenging parts in your maps, fair point. But you create "challenge" by taking opportunities. 100k start gold but no place to spend it? Haha. Funny. In order to play this map, you need to know where to scout, which boils down to early trial and error. This is unrewarding. This feels annoying to play on. With every task I have been given, I felt a great urge to just not bother with it. And thats what I am doing. I am uninstalling.

Wait there are only 6 objectives on the pictures?
sknortsch 16 Sep, 2018 @ 1:53pm

Anyone here to solve my question
The World is a Sandbox  [author] 21 Aug, 2016 @ 6:28pm
@Black Wombat
I don't recall the exact number, but Sheppards Island allows you to build at least 10 docks or so. Be sure to fit them in tightly.
Black Wombat 17 Jun, 2016 @ 5:51pm
Where the heck are you supposed to build ports? It seems like everywhere that looks like a beach actually isn't.

Just checked again and the number of ratings has changed - I guess it takes a while for steam to do it's maths! Looking forward to copping an eyeful of your new map!
Granny Annie 29 Apr, 2016 @ 2:26pm
Tried to give you a thumbs up but when I did, the number of ratings didn't change! Just letting you know you've got my vote for a beautiful map!
The World is a Sandbox  [author] 26 Apr, 2016 @ 11:36pm
Sheppards Island got 100 positive ratings now, out of the 101 ratings it received. To those 100 who left a "thumbs up", thanks guys. I appreciate the kind gesture. I hope you got good mileage out of the map, and had some good games going with it.
The World is a Sandbox  [author] 10 Apr, 2016 @ 1:15pm
Well, 94 folks took the time to rate this content (out of the 3,961 who subscribed to it as of just now, but okay..). Glad that 93 of the 94 liked to play around on this island, and gave it a thumbs up. As for that other one guy, maybe @Murasaki did rate it down after all.
Anyway, that there are 93 out there who play this game like I do is inspiring. And the reason I'm keeping at it: once we cross the 100 ratings threshold, I'll post the next map. And you can't make it any bigger than that next map. You'll see..

Hit the [Subscribe] button above. If you have Tropico 5 running in the background, exit out of it so it can update the new file. Start Tropico 5 back up, hit "New Game" - "Workshop Mission", then select "Sheppards Island".

@Murasaki
Apparently you missed the "falafel" reference in the "How To Play Sheppards Island" guide. I appreciate you didn't rate this mission down simply because it doesn't fit your playstyle. I would advise against playing any of the maps in my collection, because none of them will.
Murasaki 16 Dec, 2015 @ 9:37pm
An exercise in utter misery. Figuring out where you've been "allowed" to build a road, in defiance of all logic, does not make an exciting cerebral challenge. After hours at this scenario, I've concluded that that is the ENTIRE basis of the challenge of this mission- figuring out what insanely roundabout path must be taken to coastlines that aren't coastlines, across flat land that isn't flat, to get through beautiful terrain that will remain completely unusable. What little I've managed to put onto the landscape is absurdly far apart, looks ridiculous, is completely impractical; teamsters starve to death walking home. Excruciating; frustrating; I'm done.
DoubleBizzy 9 Dec, 2015 @ 2:29pm
ahh. So the path to the church will be the "scenic route"... and I did not know about the dots on the mini map. I've tried to zoom in the mini map, unsuccessfully, hehe. Maybe that will help with fish too:) Thank you.
The World is a Sandbox  [author] 9 Dec, 2015 @ 7:41am
"QUEST V: Beat a Path to Good Sheppard Chapel" gives it away: the old road was washed out, and the ground in that canyon is now too unstable for it to be rebuilt.
There is a way to get a roadway through to the church though.
It's a feature of Tropico 5 that some might have missed, but if you look very closely at the small navigation map in the lower left corner of the game screen, little white dots on that map give hints where deposits/resources might be located.
DoubleBizzy 9 Dec, 2015 @ 12:27am
I can't get a road to connect to the church. The little gap between the current church road up high and the riverbank coming from the Palace area - I can't get a road through. I've tried just doing a tiny little bit at the one tough spot right where the rocks are in various directions. Thankfully, all that time spent there I discovered a gold mine. Incidentally, is there any "easy" way to find / spot mines? This map is LOADED with obscuring trees, even the country houses I missed for quite awhile.

When I wrote up "Mystery of Marquis Island" I wasn't aware that Kalypsos' T5 editor does not allow to delete or at least disable the vanilla story lines. It's a valid point that as consequence "Mystery" became heavy on dialogue, possibly too heavy if your desire was to explore the map in Sandbox mode.
Taking that into account, "Sheppards Island" is set up to not add any in-game dialogue, so you can enjoy a clean Sanbox play with only the vanilla storylines. The giant custom map certainly is worth it. If you want an added challenge, take on the twelve quests from the "Sheppards Island" storyline saved as add-on above.
