@The Great D.P.S.S.

Try to explain that to other people who make "stations"...

Nice idea :)
ATMLVE  [author] 23 Oct, 2015 @ 3:52pm
@McyD Someone already mentioned that before. When I was building this, I didn't know that that was an option.
McyD 23 Oct, 2015 @ 3:49pm
Unless I am missing something, why not just put merge blocks between the section for when it closes up, and release them to let it open. That would group all your thrusters for movement.
The Great D.P.S.S 21 Oct, 2015 @ 7:21pm
:/
ATMLVE  [author] 21 Oct, 2015 @ 7:04pm
Right, theyre not. I was just pointing out another difference between them. The purpose of my ship being able to move is part of its design; what I mean is, for what it is intended to do, it requires the ability to deploy and retract in short periods of time. It is not merely a ship connected by pistons, but a ship connected by pistons that actually has a reason to BE connected by pistons.
The Great D.P.S.S 21 Oct, 2015 @ 6:58pm
Okay. (But uh stations are not meant to be mobile...)
ATMLVE  [author] 21 Oct, 2015 @ 6:56pm
The difference between that immobile station and my mobile ship, is that on the station hanger door blocks and blast door blocks are used as doors, which is their specific intended function, whereas on my ship the entire ship itself closes. This encloses the weak hanger interiors and the light armor blocks with heavy armor blocks. It not only protects the hanger interior, as on the station, but also the structure of the ship itself
The Great D.P.S.S 21 Oct, 2015 @ 6:49pm
The hanger doors shut in defense.
ATMLVE  [author] 21 Oct, 2015 @ 6:44pm
Im confused about the industrial station, how is that related?
ATMLVE  [author] 21 Oct, 2015 @ 6:43pm
@The Great D.P.S.S [DHS] [ULTCC} I would consider that to be quite dissimilar, as it is a drop pod design that utilizes rotors for large doors, and is only several blocks wide. Despite this, I do find it to be interesting and unique! Like I said, all I want is variety. I dont claim to be inventing ideas, despite that my wording may at times make it appear so.
The Great D.P.S.S 21 Oct, 2015 @ 6:39pm
Seen others, have to find them.

ATMLVE  [author] 21 Oct, 2015 @ 3:51pm
@The Great D.P.S.S [DHS] [ULTCC} Well I am certainly interested in seeing them. Could you link a workshop page with a ship that opens with pistons for functionality then closes for defense?
Assuming there are, I dont see any, but Id sure like to! Id like to see a greater variety of ships on the workshop pages. Not just fancy things with guns, or fancy ships with a bunch of cargo containers and half finished blocks for an industrial look, but really unique and creative things. Im interested in what youre talking about though.
The Great D.P.S.S 21 Oct, 2015 @ 3:45pm
There are quite alot of them..
ATMLVE  [author] 20 Oct, 2015 @ 10:56am
@J4xon Glad you like it! Inspiration is the hope! I'd certainly like to see more non-standard ships appearing on the workshop, inspired or not.
J4xon 20 Oct, 2015 @ 10:36am
Great Idea and Ship , thank you for this nice inspiration and demonstration that this will be work fine with pistons and connectors like this. I think we will see more ships like this in future
5URG3 20 Oct, 2015 @ 3:20am
No problem man, keep up the good work!
ATMLVE  [author] 20 Oct, 2015 @ 3:06am
@5URG3 I did not know that that worked! If in the future I release an updated version, I will certainly add that in. Thanks for letting me know!
5URG3 20 Oct, 2015 @ 3:03am
This is a cool concept. @ATMLVE, have you tried adding merge blocks to the four sections? If the four sections are merged together, it will be able to move as one ship. Simply turn off merges when you want to open up.
Pez 19 Oct, 2015 @ 2:00pm
When I saw this I imagined this was a capital class repair ship. Then I didn't see the repair things on the inside.
ATMLVE  [author] 18 Oct, 2015 @ 2:31pm
@cjmx21 Exactly. Like I said in the description, lots of the little things like that are missing.
cjmx21 18 Oct, 2015 @ 2:19pm
i suggest having a button on the outside for emergency closing, in case nobody is inside the station when it gets attacked, but only let the button be capable of closing the station, so enemy players cant use them to open it :)
Neronix17 15 Oct, 2015 @ 5:13pm
Wasn't sure what to expect from the thumbnail but I was sure as hell pleasantly surprised.
