Your eyes can adapt to darkness, but not so easily when there's a fullbright green slime on the screen. I imagine it's far too late for any changes to be made but if you were to revisit this map, making it more like murky green water, perhaps with green fog over it, would help make things easier to see.

this kinda reminds me of Team Fortress classic version of 2Fort, especially the elevator that leads to the intel
