Hi! Is there an option to turn it into RICO office?
moynetristan 9. juli 2023 kl. 0:11
I love the backstory and look of the building and it can be very fun to use in cities
basileus_olivius 14. jan. 2021 kl. 19:28
As someone who is currently working in such building, the power generation much more of a back up power source as its generators burn a lot of fuel, which is a more expensive source of power than what public utilities supply. Granted, I live in Quebec city where power is really cheap so it might not be that way everywhere, still the data center has a max output sufficient for a city of 300 000 people so, yes, it could be used as a power plant, if and only if it is not used fully as a data center as it needs that power for itself.

I wish it actually multiplied the amount of energy you got as having a static increase of power due to "power managment" is kinda unrealistic. Great mod anyway
annaliseh 2. dec. 2017 kl. 22:19
For me Yes I have green cities DLC
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 1. dec. 2017 kl. 9:53
Thank you for the heads up, let me check to see how I can fix this. Do you have Green Cities?
Drunk-Hecker 1. dec. 2017 kl. 2:39
As of November 30, 2017, this asset does not work and usually appears blank with no contribution to your cities. It's broken.
annaliseh 28. okt. 2017 kl. 15:33
Is this compatible with the latest update?
Delebre 6. mar. 2017 kl. 15:50
@WalrusInAnus - No, it's good. The truth is: data center power is out of control [www.datacenterdynamics.com]
WalrusInAnus 4. feb. 2017 kl. 9:55
Isn't the power output way too much?
schmid474 26. juni 2016 kl. 13:28
I like this thing. It fits perfect to my There will be light parks ;-) See my screenshots.

2 op make upkeep higher

Switch's SUPERNAPs are nuts. Very nice work. As soon as I started looking at the pictures the SUPERNAPs were the first thing to pop into my head.
Kranchan 14. mar. 2016 kl. 20:21
As a data center worker this is really cool because high tech industry is lacking in this game but I think this would be better as a growable that didn't have many jobs but increased commercial, office, and industrial demand since data centers are gigantic power sinks and only have emergency on site power generation for themselves.
Accapulco 24. feb. 2016 kl. 22:14
I think it would be really cool if you had this in smaller modular pieces. You could have electricity modules, office modules, industrial modules etc... It could be used to layout some sort of high tech industrial compound. Still very cool though, thanks.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 6. feb. 2016 kl. 15:29
Thank you! Lol 800k? That's 4 times the price of a nuclear powerplant. :P
pink guy 6. feb. 2016 kl. 9:31
You should make it more expensive then just 133700 dollars ;) Maybe like 800.000, just a suggestion.
But i really like the idea, good job making this building!! ;)
SeN Squeak 31. jan. 2016 kl. 21:05
This is AWESOME. I love the detail you have put into this and the extension piece. (I had a good laugh at the no parking sign)
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 29. jan. 2016 kl. 9:37
Sorry guys but I'm not changing the functionality, the only thing I am considering is to increase the upkeep.
mayhew_2070 29. jan. 2016 kl. 1:19
I don't think it should necessarily lose it's power, but to lower it's value. Also, a secondary version of this without power could be great, as well.
WUDCHK 4. jan. 2016 kl. 10:53
It would probably be best to have this consume a sh*t load of power vs create power.

Perhaps make it a high technology building that provides high tech jobs to surrounding neighborhoods.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 30. dec. 2015 kl. 20:36
So you would like it not to do anything? ;)
romannets 30. dec. 2015 kl. 7:02
Over powered, i would like it not to act like a power plant.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 29. dec. 2015 kl. 16:39
Hmm hard to catch a bus there from the Netherlands :P Maybe some day...
WUDCHK 29. dec. 2015 kl. 16:34
GCVos - the inside is even nicer than the pictures :-) It's pretty cool. Well worth a tour if you ever go to Las Vegas.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 28. dec. 2015 kl. 1:37
Thank you guys! You have actually been inside? Does it look as badass as the pictures make it look (I looked at their website a lot for this)?
WUDCHK 26. dec. 2015 kl. 11:33
Nice job! Looks a lot like SUPERNAP. We have servers there :-) I've been inside of their facilities too.
haylostachoo 25. dec. 2015 kl. 7:29
Hands down your facility is a major upgrade to Terremark and SUPERNAP!
리틀 로켓 맨 [DPRK] 5. dec. 2015 kl. 3:40
That look very good! :3
tokado 14. nov. 2015 kl. 15:50
maybe create a copy for those who want higher upkeep?
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 20. okt. 2015 kl. 9:30
Quantum and iqof20 do have a point though. Before AD solar was the best power solution in the game, nuclear being more powerful but also way more expensive. Since 1.2.0 CO took care of this with the day/night cycle, making nuclear the 'better' power source. This makes this building a bit of a balancing conundrum. Ideally, the maintenance costs would be twice as high, but I'm hesitant to change things like that since people are already using it.
ButtJunkie 20. okt. 2015 kl. 8:57
I see this is a power solution, not a solar power solution, so I think it is better kept in line with the other sources rather than specifically solar.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 8. okt. 2015 kl. 22:23
:D

Well you guys are right about it needing some rebalance. If I calculate cost/MW for solar since 1.2.0 you essentially get 160mw 50% of the time, so 80mw at 1200/week. This means the upkeep should ideally be increased to 1920. Makes sense because that's double what it is now.
babyblue 8. okt. 2015 kl. 14:56
just my 2 cents - i love this thing! looks great & adds quite some immersion. it pops up in every one of my cities sooner or later, so - THANK YOU!
i admit, using it does feel like cheating a little, but i can happily live with that (even though i'm generally very "anti-uber"). but i could just as well live with some minor pollution, higher initial/running costs or less power output for balancing reasons and to make it agreeable for a larger audience.
anyhow, good job GCVos - the stats are your call...! :)
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 29. sep. 2015 kl. 11:59
My only suggestion to rebalance this would be to increase the maintainance costs or add a bit of polution (not a big fan of that). But I will only do that if I can be sure it won't interfere with those who are already using the asset.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 29. sep. 2015 kl. 9:03
Thank you! I must say you are completely spot on! I made this asset before After Dark came out, so at that point there was no mechanic for having an asset behave differently at night.

If I did want to make it more realistic and/or challenging, the asset would have to cause some polution at night to emphasize generator usage. But as far as I know there's no way to implement it like that.
iqof20 29. sep. 2015 kl. 7:46
Just to clarify GCVos, this is some nice work on the models and dev. My only critique is of the real-world application/effects.

There is no real ramification from day/night cycles for solar panels. The generators utilizing server-heat cannot product more power than the servers themselves need. So this is either a diesel/fuel-cell supplemented design in support of the solar panels or you're ignoring the new day/night for simplicity. Again, I love the work, but it just kind of makes this an easy item to plop anywhere on the map and generate power from...elves?

The problem with coming close to perfection is some of us will then criticize you for not quite achieving it. This is nice work, just seems like cheating to me to use it beyond my initial tests.
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 28. sep. 2015 kl. 13:58
I guess with citybuilding games there's two type of players. The ones who want to be challenged, and the ones who just want a big sandbox. I'm actually more on the sandbox side, because I want to build my dream city and not worry about artificial difficulties. I will GLADLY cheat if that gets me closer to my goal. To each their own. :)

About the plant, it's just set to regular solar unlock. I don't think it's my job as an asset creator to make something easy or hard to unlock, just to make sure the asset itself is balanced. Sure you might unlock this pretty early, but you still need 133700 to place it.

A0: You have to go really really really high to reach any of the limits, I doubt this building alone would get you there....
Øuantum3 28. sep. 2015 kl. 13:49
Actually, I don't subscribe to stuff which make the game easier (like no pillars, tweak demand and the like). I have a big income per cicle and having this power plant is not a problem and it gives me more solutions than problems = less challenging game. However, if this power plant is given because you built your city and it has high-tech industries, high wealth and educated people, certain amount of citicenz and type, among specialized universities for high-tech and specialized universities in parkization, both fully upgraded so that give this powerplant at the end, then I would subscribe to mostly all mods like this. Otherwise is just cheating to me. An excellent idea that I would love if the game DEVELOPERS include them as a part of the mechanics of the game, but they rely and put all their responsability and everything on moders...
A0 28. sep. 2015 kl. 13:05
how much does this affect the object count limit.
Ed the Head 28. sep. 2015 kl. 12:45
Thank you, looks amazing =)
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 28. sep. 2015 kl. 10:21
Then... don't subscribe to it? Fair enough points, however the actual cost per MW is more than solar AND nuclear, and requires water as well as more employees. Also, generators aren't magic. These kinds of structures can easily power a small town irl (though not intended for it, but hey, this game has no interwebz).
Øuantum3 28. sep. 2015 kl. 10:06
Great idea, but I consider it cheating unless it takes effort to get it, by some kind of unlokcing a chain of related stuff and this could be one of the biggers unlokcs.
iqof20 28. sep. 2015 kl. 7:23
Neat, but unrealistic of course. Might as well just say it's a magic power creator sucking energy from an alternate universe.
Lucy 27. sep. 2015 kl. 13:59
i love it :3

Thank you.
crylive 27. sep. 2015 kl. 13:16
Thanks GCVos :)
GCVos  [ophavsmand] 27. sep. 2015 kl. 11:50
@ Purphorus: Should be fixed now!

@ Bayonet: Thank you I'm glad you like it! I'm planning to extend this to growable industry with some wall 2 wall assets. Should be fairly easy since I already have all the textures. :)

@ Beta Ray: You are completely right about the generators, originally I wanted ones the same size as the cooling units, but I used smaller ones to add some variety. Also there could me more inside the building.

@ Daxius It's Elliot Alderson :P
