@iankorhonen that's because it's a 'world' file. You will have to open it as new world where you can add it to your blueprints manually.

@Master Anon It's a quite old blueprint created 4 years ago. Many things have changed since then, including my computer setup. As I no longer own the original files I cannot update this one. If I get the time I still want to redo this blueprint

im in the world and it doesnt work. Either the payload needs a battery for the merge block to work or u need to fix the timer blocks.
U start with both bombs on. Launch timer block is disabled. U have to 1st manually turn it on and then start actions. 1 bomb goes off, then the thing turns and a welder i swapped out for large grid welder welds up the merge blcks and stops. warheads and the ball isnt welded up. Merge block isnt attached to the merge block on the spinning bit.

@Astounding Incompetence might be the changes to the welder's hitbox, you could replace the connector+welder with a large ship welder. That should work even better than the old design.

for me, the welder gets stuck inside the payload, making it unable to turn. why is this and is there a way to fix it?

I have made Numorus Rail guns that fire rock projectiles. But this is a great. The reloading speed is cut down drasticly.

This is amazing! I've been looking for something like this about a year ago and there was something close to it but nothing like it! I've seen numerous designs that shot pure kinetic projectiles and noone of them sure were automatic. You've managed to solve the reloading issue also created very damaging projectile *Judging by the video*. I'll be testing your design tommorow, can't beliave that I found it right before going to bed :-D Looks like a right type of weapon for my UFO designs. Hoping to may be improve it anyhow. Otherwise - great work

@Nightmares_and_Crows If you look on the top of the page it says "type: world" this means it's a world file you can open them by doing the following: 1. subscribe to the world 2. go to the workshop button in main menu 3. click on the name of the world twice 4. wait for it to load 5. how about a similar design but one that fire multiple projectiles at the same time? or a twin barrel one that fire in sequence? with 2 barrels, 1 can be set up to fire decoys and the other a explosive payload.
im good at comming up with concept ideas but horrible at building and testing them.

@HermesBird Now think of it this way, the weapon has an infinite range, and if used as a stationairy weapon it is really accurate. If you spot a ship miles away and you fire a barrage towards them, what ship has enough power to keep gravity shield running constantly. In a simple survival scenario it would be effective as this long range weapon. Now I agree turrets would be a problem but those could be worked around by replacing one of the two payloads with a decoy one. I would never claim it's perfect, but it's not useless either.

I build vanilla ships and such, but for railguns, I've never though of using a rotor for two ammunition areas. This is an absolutely ingenious design and I'll be sure to use it on some of my future ships, maybe even modify it a bit so gravity shields won't deflect it.

A big hulking railgun is gonna be your first target if you are attacking a station or a ship, and you could easily hit the warheads while it is firing and blow the thing up, rather weak, and not super effective if the attacker also has a gravity generator. That is my analysis, I've made similar... Good Work though :TR:

Ha, can we get that on an official looking warning sticker on the side please.

Also have you set it up/would it be possible to disable the mass blocks once launched
to make it possible to hit ships running grav gens? and are you useing a slug or explosive ammo?

with a large enough payload it would be a nice spine mounted cap ship pwnage cannon

@echance01 Up to a maximum velocity of 104m/s, however I believe wastedspace found something about potential energy beyond that. Really, more generators would just result in faster acceleration.

The draw back to rail guns like this is all it would take to disable would be a fast ship to get in close and use gravity to disable it. Other ships that use Gravity shields would just ingore the shot entirely because it would never hit the target. New players and AI ships with disabled/damaged turrets its going to hit home and be realy effective. I could see this usefull as a First Line of Defince for a station but once a ship is built with proper turrets most rail guns are not effective, unless its a sneek attack.
