There is a guide that restores it for both the RM version and the classic hw1

Solution for non-working mods. Go to "(insert location of your homeworld installation here)\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\DataWorkshopMODs\76561198022339005\494108227", It may actually be under Homeworld1Classic but I'm not sure as I don't actually have any HW1 mods.

Also bring up "(insert steam directory on the same drive as your homeworld installation)\steamapps\workshop\content\244160\494108227" and copy the .big file from this directory to the identical folder in the Homeworld directory.

This will work for any mod and solves all general failure issues along with maybe a few other problems as for whatever reason the .big file is corrupted by whatever moves the mods into the game folder. This is a gearbox problem and I'm not aware of a better fix.

To all those who complain about mods not working, you have to go into the bottom right of the launch window and enable your mods.
