If you run map directly from the workshop, it has no sounds. But if you copy the original file to tf/maps folder and run it from there, it will have sounds. Its a workshop download bug which causes ambient sounds like soundscapes not to play at all within the map.

I get my exploits information from several places. Usually its someone posting screenshot for me.
ME GUSTA! 20 Jun, 2022 @ 2:40pm
So I just playtested. It's a good looking map, but the ambience in every area is just dead silent and the only area that has ambience is the area where the payload starts, so perhaps you should make that same ambience in that area to also be heard anywhere around the map. And by the way, do you watch tf2 youtuber Delfy? I'm asking because im wondering if that's the main place of where you find every exploit in every one of your new maps

Subscribe to the map. Wait for it to download. Start the game and then:

what do we need to type in console to playtest?
Blanc (Next White) 1 Jun, 2019 @ 10:03pm
Man, if only Valvo cared more about TF2, I would kms if this was included.
Reaper 22 Dec, 2016 @ 10:24am
i hope it gets added now
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 19 Nov, 2016 @ 8:48am
Thanks. I have no say in the matter, it's up to Valve.
Taking karate classes online 19 Nov, 2016 @ 6:18am
Just played this on the TF2maps server. Definitely needs to be in the game.
littelintellect 3 Jun, 2016 @ 12:38pm
well, we need this version to be in the actual game, because I don't like the Haloween version.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 17 May, 2016 @ 6:49am
Hellstone aka pl_millstone_event is a halloween version of this map and it is in the game. However, this original is not. Only Valve can tell you if this will end up in the game or not. I hope it will someday.
DogsRNice 17 May, 2016 @ 6:03am
If a version of this is in the game will this end up in the game?
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 20 Dec, 2015 @ 3:49am
Thanks. I'll be updating the gamebanana and tf2maps (infact this map somehow has disappeared from there) sites soon with the updated file. I just released an update to the map, fixing the navigation not loading issue as well as few minor things.
Yellow 16 Dec, 2015 @ 3:55pm
Nicely done. Will the gamebanana and the tf2maps download pages get updated soon?
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 14 Dec, 2015 @ 10:39am
Update that i promised is now out. I gave up adding the nav file, because for some odd reason, it causes map to fail load if i pack it into the workshop file. Sorry :(
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 12 Dec, 2015 @ 12:36pm
Kind of busy, will try to release that update that i promised for last weekend, tomorrow on sunday. Doing new map(s) so they have taken my interest off from this completely. Thanks for your patience!
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 12:24pm
No, i will bundle nav within the next release this weekend and bots will work after that. If you manually generate nav file, bots require manual nav editing to work properly.
Rabboid 3 Dec, 2015 @ 12:21pm
Does this map work with bots if I use nav_generate?
JXKOS 28 Nov, 2015 @ 12:25pm
You shuld make the end cap a big x-mas tree so the cart thing wuld make sense
otter 26 Nov, 2015 @ 5:22pm
Astonishingly beautiful, plays well too. My favorite map in the game.
govedo 22 Nov, 2015 @ 11:07am
ok
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 22 Nov, 2015 @ 10:32am
No thanks, my hands are full.
govedo 22 Nov, 2015 @ 9:07am
also imdoing a map with 2 guys wanna get in?
govedo 22 Nov, 2015 @ 9:06am
ok cool but i thought this ould be event map but i know now its not its a casual right but please add more of winter trees with snow on it!
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 22 Nov, 2015 @ 7:58am
Just so you know, once Valve activates smissmas, the cables will have light and the bases will have gifts present. They activate automatically on this map when event is on. More trees, i can add. I'll look into it.
govedo 22 Nov, 2015 @ 7:48am
add lights around on the cables and add some gifts and trees!
iVoltaire :> 21 Nov, 2015 @ 3:54pm
Good job there. Can't wait for it to be an official map
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 21 Nov, 2015 @ 3:04pm
New update is out. Only when Smissmass, TF2 birthday or Valventime (valentine) is on, there are gift packages witin the teams spawn areas. Also during smissmas, ther is also a different lighting on the respawn areas. Also fixed few texture errors. I think this map is now nearing completion.
Lil Polemistis 20 Nov, 2015 @ 4:47am
VALVe should have added this map first, and Hellstone later.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 19 Nov, 2015 @ 7:19am
It's more like hellstone looked the same as this one, as this is older map than it was. But thanks for the suggestion. I experimented with different christmas presents but they kind of came just in the way of gameplay. I might add them inside bases though.
iVoltaire :> 19 Nov, 2015 @ 5:23am
If you're trying to make this more christmassy, i recommend putting in decorations indoors or else it looks almost the same as hellstone from the inside
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 15 Nov, 2015 @ 10:13am
Ment to say captured, but it's fixed now. Thanks.
Dogman15 15 Nov, 2015 @ 10:11am
You said "3rd point is captures" in the latest patch notes.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 15 Nov, 2015 @ 7:18am
Significant update to the map is now out. Changenotes list changes i made. There is now also the festive payload cart that i talked before. Last image of the screenshots shows it up close.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 7 Nov, 2015 @ 6:49am
There's more festive payloads out there than just one. The one i was planning to use is created by MaccyF. He recently posted it to tf2maps.net . I have not implemented it yet, so i will have to see how it looks ingame and if there are any issues.
Dogman15 7 Nov, 2015 @ 12:58am
That you made? Because I know I've seen a Christmas-themed payload cart before. If I wanted to, I could do some quick research and find the maps it's used on and an image of it. Maybe you could take a screenshot of the bomb you made if it's different.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 6 Nov, 2015 @ 9:44pm
There is only birthday and Halloween including none as option at tf_logic_holiday. Valve switches the texture of the "rope" or something during their own update. I'm not 100% sure about how they do it, but since it's game wide (csgo as i recall also did this), i'd bet on that. The payload cart i was planning to use was a custom prop.
Dogman15 6 Nov, 2015 @ 8:00pm
I've seen a payload map before with a festive gift-like payload bomb. Or perhaps two. I don't remember the name of one of them, but the other one was a snowy reskin of Badwater Basin. Is that the payload model you used?

Also, during the Christmas holiday, Valve flips a switch and rope entities on the maps (like wires and such) gain Christmas lights. It's one of the tf_holiday settings, I'm pretty sure.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 6 Nov, 2015 @ 5:16pm
I experimented with the map just this evening (night for me now, don't ask more :D:) but anyway, i ended up not using the gift packages. They only would distract players and confuse them even more as some look so small they could be picked up. So i ended up making the cart festive and improving the gameplay aspect. You guys ended up in same conclusion as i did, but for different reasons. I wasn't thinking them adding the map but end result is the same. Thanks for feedback, more ideas about improving the map are welcome.
CommodoreKong 6 Nov, 2015 @ 5:11pm
Yeah Valve has never added a Christmas themed map, just snowy themed map. Of course there is a first time for everything, who knows what the TF2 team will do for Christmas this year.
Dogman15 5 Nov, 2015 @ 11:31pm
I don't think it would confuse people. The Halloween maps are only accessible by quickplay during the Halloween holiday period, anyway. They remain distinct from Harvest, Mountain Lab, Viaduct, Lakeside, Hightower, and Doomsday. I imagine the same would be true if Valve added Millstone, cp_Sunshine, and koth_Moonshine.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 5 Nov, 2015 @ 9:41pm
I don't know what they want and like i've said before, it's very likely that they don't want the map anyway because it would only confuse people. Though there is mann manor and mountainlab too & all the sawmill versions. I just wanted to improve the map with changes i've learned while watching people play hellstone and looking how i can also improve the visual look in the same time.
Dogman15 5 Nov, 2015 @ 4:01pm
Would Valve want those Smissmasy things in this map if they were to add it, though? Wouldn't they just want a basic Alpine/snow map?
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 2 Nov, 2015 @ 9:32am
Thanks, i'll do a fixup for this map since hellstone has some bugs fixed which this one still has. I also plan to make it more themed map (adding some gift presents and such into it while i'm at it. This will happen during this month, so the map is ready and more smissmass themed for the holidays.
CommodoreKong 2 Nov, 2015 @ 2:25am
I hope Valve decides to add the regular version of Millstone to the game along with the Halloween version.
Stewartsaurus 11 Oct, 2015 @ 5:17pm
COOL! This map definatly is great! please do not underestimate the community!!!:steamhappy:
toof 11 Jun, 2015 @ 3:55am
I remember the old version, liked it then, probably will love to see the improvements.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 6 Jun, 2015 @ 9:49am
You can play this map on Pelipurkki.fi - Payload maps only [FastDL] - 89.166.50.111:27045 :shockjockey:
Knusperfrosch 3 Jun, 2015 @ 2:08pm
Yes, it looks pretty nice.
ICS ❱❱❱  [author] 3 Jun, 2015 @ 10:14am
The desert themed cp version was the first tf2 map i ever made and it's layout never worked like i intended. This is not the same map at all as it was but a rework of all areas and improvements. Also i wanted to distinguish this from the cp version completely.

During development, I experimented with different themes and this used to look like sunny (like curve), green grassy like, dark grassy like, dark style, halloween theme style, snowy, etc. I decided that the snow one was far the best ones that fit in nicely and i think it worked out great.
Knusperfrosch 3 Jun, 2015 @ 9:57am
@ICS: I am wondering, why did you switch the map from a desert theme in the rc1 version to winter themed in the finished(?) version that is just called pl_millstone? To better distinguish it from the desert-themed cp_millstone map that is similar in layout?
