@Mooseclops: I dunno. "Boy, if only I had more shovels" has never really come up for me in a game. I agree, though, that a disadvantage would make the character more interesting to play.

i think the mod has little to no drawbacks which make it overly strong, especially at the start. Reduce sanity lost with lower sanity pool is fair but honestly thats more of a perk imo. Having a shovel that cant break can make such a huge diffence at the start, I used foxel with two friends and by day 5 i had more bushes twigs and grass then we ever had collected all together. One idea i had to balance foxel would be to increase the durability loss per hit for all other tools, or deny him a certain tool, for instance the spear or the axe. Great mod tho i really like him and he looks great just felt too strong to me.
