thanks, ill have to explore that, dont know much about save game editing at the moment. i did it some back on the comodore 64 using a sector editor where i can see the values i was modifying, i bought different weapons and took note of where the change in the save game file was. each weapon had a given number. so on battletech crecent hawks inception, i was able to give the infantry partical projection cannons in place of their rifles, the most damageing weapon in the game. then as infantry they would be wiping out mechs left and right.
i completed the game before trying to modify it. so it never spoiled the challenge of completing normal game. i just did it to see what would happen,

@Cheetahhawk, if you know your way around a save file, you can actuall equip your ship with duel lasers, duel rails, and duel mining, they all three fall under the same weapon slots, otherwise no, you cant do it in game, the down side is, the in game weapon mods will "auto remove" when switching between the three different weapons. you can also replace/add-in all the other weapons into there slots, for instance, you can all three levels of the plasma cannons, all three pulse maser weapons, and all three MG's, as well as the shotguns. but if you put more then one weapon in the same slot, in game weapon mods wont work.

also note, in game mods can be edited in the save file to give better bonuses, or less downsides as there is no "Set" mods, they all random developments.

in response to the earlier questions i seen where the developers set it up where you can buy weapon mods some of which double the life and fire rate and dps of your standard weapons with the new upgrade. some however will replace the other buffs depending on which mod upgrade you buy from the vender.

i like this mod, i just cannot use it and the vanila rail gun at the same time. as when i buy the rail gun it removes the laser, the rail gun is nice for long range sniping but up close this beam does more dps, so i have chosen not to buy the rail gun in game, unless there is a way to make this work in conjunction with the rail gun, then sniping small targets at range would be nice. the heavy beam laser is definatly more effective at taking out cap ship engines.

also one well placed novadrone will knock out both rehanas engines and jump drive at the same time

changing the damage/cooldown etc. is pretty easy. The reason I made this mod, is to find out if it is possible to add another beam to a weapon.
That being said: I do not currently mod/play X:R.

Hey, can you make similar mod for other weapons? Like Machine Gun with a big higher dmg and slower overheating?

i see. ok. just for refrence though, i see where they are in the save file, nice work around there. just FYI when plaing the campaign and re starting, at the point where you get the mining laer for the first time, it give both the Duel heavy laser and a duel mining laser.

it does not work properly when you buy the the weapon (just one beam).
It's only slightly better than the vanilla version, thus it is a mk1 repacement

any chance you could simply make this a MK2 version of the vanilla? i honestly think it makes more sence that way. also, 1.01, does this mean i can buy it, and i DONT start with it upon a new game start?

Only problem is to start new game, because this reloading of md-files in saved games with equipment trader.

To my knowledge Lost Weapons does not work anymore.
My issue is not listing new weapons with traders (or the other changes you did) but to install it in the two slots simultaneously.
If you solved that issue I'm grateful for suggestions.

Could give you my Weapon MK X Mod, but need a little more balancing. Weapons are listet by traders, changed damage values, number of bullets, spread of bullets and so one. I started it, beacuse with stronger hulls it is neraly impossible to destroy big ships alone. And use LostWeapon Mod for implementing to traders. Test yourelf with shotgun it looks realy like Flak :D <bullet speed="2000" lifetime="3.0" range="6000" amount="120" barrelamount="1" icon="player_weapons_primary_shotgun" angle="5.0" maxhits="1" ricochet="0" restitution="0" scale="0" attach="0" />

Ya, that would be nice.
However, with extensions being very plug and play, is it feasable to make a few basic loadouts as mods? eg. twin packs of weapons
Just subscribe to a loadout you like?

Its possible to fire any number of wepaons of the same type.
But I'm more interested in solving the issue that you can't install those wepaons via a trader properly.

Most of the fighters have more than one weapon, but they are of the same type.

Do you think it would be possible to make weapon packs? Like quad plasma repeaters and such?

Short of unlocking other ships, more options for weapon loadouts would be great.
