Is there a similar mod for HW1 Classic?

you download the mod and launch homeworld and go to hw2c mods and click on the mod then activate it

Don't want to sound like a complete idiot haha. but how do you actually download it? i have subscribed but am stuck after that. probably something really simple.

I just figured out those matches were remastered versions, not classic so... Anybody interested in multiplayer matches with this mod?

Actually, the matches are selectable but not joinable.

Online matches via Steam is visible but grayed out therefore I cannot click on them or join them... Is there a solution for this particular issue?

Well mine seems to work... haven't tried playing a match yet, but the button is there and it takes me to the LAN or Steam selection menu. For those having problems getting the button to show up, you still have to lauch this like it is a mod from the workshop. Click the "Mods" button and enable "Homeworld 2 Classic Multiplayer Mod" and lauch.

This will not work if you just launch Homeworld 2 classic -- it is still a mod. Hope this helps those that are having issues getting the buttons to show up.

Works for me but this is what I had to do:
Click subscribe above.
Start HWR normally, and click Homeworld2 Classic, exit the game.
HW2CMPMod.big will be downloaded here: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\DATAWORKSHOPMODS
Move the HW2CMPMod.big file to: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Data folder
Then create the below shortcut to launch the game: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod HW2CMPMod.big

Could port forwarding be an issue? Can anyone confirm that they can connect to people outside their physical network? It really shouldn't be and issue if you're on a LAN/GameRanger/Tunngle. But Steam might be a problem.

The mod works perfectly fine on the lan option for me. Personally could care less for the steam option my self and as such haven't tested it, but lan works fine between my 2 computers.

could be. hes in the military and over in hawaii while im in wisconsin so maybe its set to just a regional thing.

This is really strange, as I've personally had multiplayer matches using this... Hmm. I may consider hiding this until I can work out why. I'm not even doing anything special, I'm just exposing the inbuilt menu option that existed originally, the rest of the new code is (presumably) Gearbox's. Very, very strange and unfortunate that it doesn't work for a fair few people...

Also, it does seem that for some people it does work, so it could be a firewall issue or something super strange like that.

You say it was a simple change in the read the menu option? I got no modding experence but want lan for homeworld 1 classic badly for a friend so I can go multi with him (his com can't handle remastered)

That's strange... It might be something on your computer or your friends, as I've had some games that have worked.

I installed the Star Wars Walords mod and i cant connect to my friends server. The game says "host not found"
