Just for giggles, I got the SE2 demo a year or so ago. It was interesting. I didn't mess with it as much as I'd have liked to, though.

Heh, I think I first got the SE4 demo... 10 years ago? More? Less? I can't remember. I'm fairly certain it was before I started going to school, though.

Folks,I think I'm about to make you feel old....I started playing Space Empires II almost 20 years ago and I FONDLY remember the early 2D version of this shiipset (it was the only one you could play with the demo). I remember having to mail off $20 for the 3.5 floppy...good times...

Thank you again for porting some nice designs from another game :) i'm not sure if you own it, but the models from Sword of the stars II : Enhanced version are very nice ... if you find any way of porting them, i would be really really happy :)

Well, I thought I wasn't going to port any more of these, because they were too... blocky. Now I'm not so sure...

SE4 and SE5...I played them far more than I ever should have. This shipset brings back memories.

You confused me for a second there. Then I remembered that there's a top-down view in that game. xD

Edit: Probably didn't help me too much that Firgof once mentioned on the IRC that you were a fan of SE4, but never said a word about you having SE5. :o

Eh, Reaper, that's because you played SE4 instead of SE5. Me, I only had the SE4 demo until recently, and had SE5 for over a year now. :P

Edit: Really, though, the models looked a lot worse in MilkShape than they do in the game. I do prefer SE4's graphics for races like the Phong, Amon'krie or Jraenar, which weren't majorly overhauled (for the better, in the case of the Sergetti and Terrans - not so much for Ukra-Tal or Eee.) by SE5.

This brings back memories. Not necessarily the best memories, but memories...

It's weird seeing them from anything but top-down.
