This might be the first frigate I've seen that isn't the size of a cruiser

Thanks! +1 man

hi there, thank you, and - it sure is!

hello sir, awesome ship, one question though, is it mod free?

Wow, I’m honored that you took the time to build this in survival! Thank you for the kind words; I’m happy you enjoyed it so much! (btw, I’ve watched quite a bit of Supernatural – fun show :)

Gope, this ship is fuckin beautiful. took me 3 days to build this in survival and it could not be anymore perfect. after some minor modifications and grav drive ;) it's an amazing design, the best ship i've ever had the pleasure of piloting. keep up the amazing work, look forward to see what comes next!

Thanks JD.Horx; and I think I agree with you about the weight. I began building this fleet operating under the old way of thinking with heavy armor; my view of its use colored by earlier versions of the game where Gatling guns/missiles absolutely shredded even heavy armor. I may go back and lighten it up some when I have time.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for stopping by!

@Rotiart, I like the idea and I'll try to tackle that in the future. Feel free to shoot anymore thoughts or ideas you have about what you'd like to have on that ship to me at GopeScopeGaming@gmail.com

Thanks!

Nice ship. A but heavy for a frigate though.

Can you make a tiny frigate that is large enough to be a mobile trading post, but small enough to be built in a day in survival?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply Allen and thanks for checking out the ship! I appreciate the feedback. Let me try to answer a few of your questions.

On the subject of the bridge, you are certainly correct in that it is a weak point, which is why there is a backup bridge located deeper within the ship. I personally enjoy a view when piloting a ship so that is the main reason for the more exposed bridge. I also am trying to design ships that are somewhat inspired by modern naval vessels which frequently include what is known as a "flying bridge" which, like the bridge on this frigate, provides a wider field of view but less protection than a battle bridge that would be located inside the citadel of the ship.

To your question about speed: you understand correctly; it takes 13.8 seconds to go from dead stop to 20 m/s. The difficulty I run into with speed on these ships is that, without using mods (which I might start doing) the large ship thrusters don't provide enough force to get a larger heavily armored ship up to speed very quickly without cramming them in on the rear of the ship (which ruins the aesthetics for me)

Thanks again Allen!

Cheers :)

Also, when you mention acceleration of 0-20m/s in 13.8 seconds... do you mean it takes 13.8 seconds to get up to just 20m/s? If so, that's far far too slow for a frigate. Suppose it's understandable why your ship is slow given the mass but perhaps you could consider adding a gravity engine?

Sorry for taking up so much space. This annoying comment system only grants 1000 characters and I wanted to give a good response to someone who clearly put so much thought and dedication into their work. Please know that I do not intend to insult you or offend. I like your work, that's why I comment. Thank you for your time.

One is the exposed bridge. Yes, I know you erected a blast shield but at the same time, blast doors don't offer much protection from missile and gun fire. And the reality remains that even with the shield, your bridge is very vulnerable to stray bullets. You mention that only fighters would work, but I believe even a fast-moving interceptor frigate could get around the shield and poke through. And even so, do you really want something so clearly expensive to build be easily destroyed by a quick-and-easy fighter? No small blast door is going to stop dedicated rocket-fire or a stray gatling bullet from making your expensive frigate a 5,294,197 kg brick.

I like the level of thought you put into this frigate and its general aesthetic design is beautiful. Also find all the lighting to be quite clever and your findings concerning torpedoes is quite uncanny even if I'm still skeptical regarding their usefulness. I also love how compact everything is, which is important. That said, I do have some comments regarding this frigate.

Thanks! I can only hope so :) Happy engineering!

Nice and compact design as i like it myself. Keep on with your wonderfull work and one day our ships might meet on the vast battlefield of space. ^^
