is there a direct download of the files?
Mabus (the Werewolf) 5 Sep, 2019 @ 5:23pm
Doesnt seem to download when subscribing....
Cortrai 24 Mar, 2017 @ 3:07am
Thanks for the reply, I'll check that.
Captain Starlight  [author] 19 Mar, 2017 @ 6:34am
Apologies for the slow reply. There probably is a way to overwrite the dlc units, but I wouldn't know what it is. From what I understand the way the unit gfx is written now is completely different to when I made this mod, so although it still works, the structure of this mod is very much out of date. If I remember correctly the better looking garbs mod on the forums changed the models around somewhat and is more up to date with the new system, so if you;re really keen, I'd recommend finding that one and trying to edit it.
Cortrai 14 Mar, 2017 @ 12:45am
Hi, is there an way to overwrite the new M&M Contentpack Units with yours? I do like the new faces but the units are a bit lame. I mean Fullhelmets and Tunics around 950 a.D.
Winter 13 Feb, 2017 @ 1:25am
why europe and arab units are still use default units? and hungarian units use turkish units
Captain Starlight  [author] 7 Jan, 2017 @ 5:17pm
You would have to edit the mod and put the default arab units back in place of the persian ones.
Dane 6 Jan, 2017 @ 8:56am
Is there any way to play this without the Persian unit pack?
Tethryss 26 Aug, 2016 @ 7:19pm
Awesome! Thanks for the consideration :D and PLEASE for Croatia too! Their units look WAY TOO similar to Poland's which is a completely different thing. But if you cannot do it, I will understand and appreciate the hell out of any effort you put in. :)
Captain Starlight  [author] 26 Aug, 2016 @ 5:34pm
@Notaspook Way back when I first made this I tried to have the hungarians use the turkish models for their early troop models, but I couldn't quite figure it out. I'm not sure, but I think horselords added new models that all nomads use, not just the altaic cultures. I'm not especially keen on making another DLC required for this mod, but I'll take a look at what models the hungarians use. If they still use the generic eastern early units I'll have another crack at giving them turkish units, but no promises.
Tethryss 25 Aug, 2016 @ 6:57am
Hey, I am back with a request to this mod:

Could you give the Croatian and Hungarian Cultures the Turkish Units? The Turkish units are BARELY EVER seen anywhere and I think that those two would look really good with the Turkish Units for their unit-types. The Turkish Units also would work for the Khanate Cultures too.
Captain Starlight  [author] 24 Aug, 2016 @ 12:55am
@Notaspook I don't want to overwrite factions that already have proper dlc. However, if you're willing, you should be able to modify them yourself with not too much trouble if you follow guide in the discussion section.
Tethryss 23 Aug, 2016 @ 11:00pm
Hey great mod! I was wanting to know though if you were thinking of maybe adding in better units for the Celts?
Captain Starlight  [author] 8 Aug, 2016 @ 3:25pm
@Silas: Somehow I've only seen your comment just now. Sorry about that. I've had a look at the new Italian units files when this mod and another were clashing and I have no idea what PDX has done to the file structure. In all honesty, your best bet would be to go to the forums because it's beyond me.
Silas 13 Dec, 2015 @ 8:00am
I've posted this in the sub-thread above, but I'll ask here for greater visibility: I want to replace the Russian units used for eastern groups with Italian ones. But in the DLC file, there is no Avatars.gfx file, only Italianfx.gfx. On top of this, the format and references seem to differ widely between the avatars.gfx file in the mod and the Italianfx.gfx file in the DLC. Any help?
Bretonnian Knightess 22 Nov, 2015 @ 5:59am
This mod is basically necessary if you don't want to feel like you wasted 5 dollars for your unit packs
Champkareem 4 Aug, 2015 @ 12:44pm
Ok i figured it out, The mod doesnt work with cultural cities remix.
Champkareem 4 Aug, 2015 @ 12:29pm
Yes, it was in the folder. Im sure im making some noob mistake.
Captain Starlight  [author] 3 Aug, 2015 @ 11:36pm
Is the mod definitely in your mod folder? I've been using the exact same copy I originally made and it's worked with every update and every combination of mods.
Champkareem 3 Aug, 2015 @ 1:35pm
Im starting at 867 then playing past 1066. I havent tried any late start dates.:steamsad:
Captain Starlight  [author] 3 Aug, 2015 @ 2:18am
Are you playing after 1066?
Champkareem 1 Aug, 2015 @ 6:02am
Is this mod working with Horse Lords? Im not seeing any changes whe i subscribe.
Captain Starlight  [author] 22 Jul, 2015 @ 1:35am
From what few pictures I can find, it seems they had sort of a combination of the eastern polish/russian style armour and the western style. I might do some fiddling with the mod to see if I can make something similar without needing other dlc's.
Snorri (vtz) 22 Jul, 2015 @ 1:32am
Note that in X century Hungarians were still steppe nomads equiped with horses and bows. They became more western-european later on.
Captain Starlight  [author] 21 Jul, 2015 @ 11:21pm
What sort of armour did medieval hungarians wear? Was it more similar to western european armour?
NutHim 21 Jul, 2015 @ 7:45am
yes it looks good just that we never had soldiers in armor like that(not trying to criticize your work)
Snorri (vtz) 21 Jul, 2015 @ 3:41am
Eastern units are good for Hungary apart from late game, but I don't think many players play late game, as it's quite boring and underdone. XI-XIII is the game core IMO.
Captain Starlight  [author] 21 Jul, 2015 @ 2:16am
I think we can both agree that it looks better than the default one though.
NutHim 21 Jul, 2015 @ 12:55am
Hungary with that eastern unit looks so strange
Archangel 19 May, 2015 @ 5:49pm
Some people have all dlc's.
Snorri (vtz) 8 May, 2015 @ 10:43am
Well, no-one uses Military Orders unit pack, even those who gave westerngfx. I have no idea why it happens. However, it seems that someone found a solution, so sorry for interrupting :)
Captain Starlight  [author] 7 May, 2015 @ 8:14pm
Also, as far as I know, there aren't any unit model editing guides. I just looked at the code of the Recycled Unit Packs mod to figure out what I needed to change.
Captain Starlight  [author] 7 May, 2015 @ 8:11pm
My guess is that it adds new graphics groups, whereas this mod is made for the vanilla ones, though I can't be certain without seeing the mod myself. Can you describe what exactly is happening when you use these mods together?
Snorri (vtz) 7 May, 2015 @ 8:08am
Yes, I wasn't specific enough. It is not compatibile with sub-mod for CPR, called CPR Flavor Plus or so.
Captain Starlight  [author] 7 May, 2015 @ 1:47am
I use CPR myself as part of the historical immersion project and I've never had any issues with it. What problems are you having?
Snorri (vtz) 6 May, 2015 @ 10:31am
[h1]Hello![/h1]
I really love this mod. Vanilla units are poor and should be removed.
It is compatibile with CPR, however. I guess you wouldn't like to make it compatibile with a mod you don't use, but is there any guide on the Internet that you learnt editing units from? I would really love to see one, in order to fix units for CPR :)
Captain Starlight  [author] 13 Mar, 2015 @ 4:06pm
Slight ammendment made to step 9 of the unit editing guide.
Yale 13 Mar, 2015 @ 8:29am
Thank you, Starlight.
Captain Starlight  [author] 7 Mar, 2015 @ 5:25pm
Uit editing guide is up.
Captain Starlight  [author] 3 Mar, 2015 @ 9:25pm
I would recommend that you get the persian units just because they're so much nicer than the standard arab units. However, it's not very difficult to change which factions use which units, as long as you're just doing a straight swap. So rather than everyone ask me to make different versions to suit them, I'll put up some basic instructions for how to change it yourself.
Yale 2 Mar, 2015 @ 3:11pm
Do you think you could upload an alternative version of this mod that only changes the Western and Eastern models? I don't have the Persian unit pack, and I don't plan on purchasing it anytime soon, so it would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
SaintDaveUK 24 Feb, 2015 @ 9:43am
Great work!
Pseudonym 23 Feb, 2015 @ 3:37pm
This is AMAZING, exactly what I've been looking for. Very tired of the poor quality of the older units, so this was a breath of fresh air to the unit graphics, especially since the Military Orders are so rarely seen compared to Western European units.
myworstfriend 19 Feb, 2015 @ 4:57pm
i hope they don't appear as crunched up blobs crashing my game,
i have high hopes for this mod.
Sabertooth 28 Jan, 2015 @ 4:55am
ok thankyou anyway just was wondering.
Captain Starlight  [author] 27 Jan, 2015 @ 9:30pm
Oh I see. It would be possible to swap councillor models the same way this mod does with military models, but I don't know the first thing about making new ones from scratch, or even if it's possible.
Sabertooth 27 Jan, 2015 @ 6:52pm
yes i have seen that mod .but i was meaning diffent looking sprits on the map .like the models
you made .that get place on the map .not the info card
Captain Starlight  [author] 27 Jan, 2015 @ 4:23pm
You might want to look for a mod called "better looking garbs" for that sort of thing. It adds a whole bunch of new clothing to every culture. It used to be on the workshop but it might have been removed to the Paradox forums.
Sabertooth 27 Jan, 2015 @ 1:47pm
question i have been playing england and spain. france.and I was wondering if you can
make a mod for better looking council members .I was watching the tudors and noiced the bishop wore red or purple .the chan.was dressed all in black with a black hat and gold chain around his neck .and so on..I injoy your mod .and thankyou for that .I'm sorry that i don't know how much work it takes to do this but after i seen this mod i new you were the person to talk to
thankyou again for makeing the game alittle better
Captain Starlight  [author] 26 Jan, 2015 @ 4:13am
If they're part of the eastern unit pack then yes. However, as far as I know, there aren't any cultures that use eastern units and can get horse archers outside of mercenaries, which use their own models.
