Pretty difficult. The beast kind of lingers outside wherever you are for a while and comes back really quick.Hiding also doesn't really work.

I got the note that said the bolt cutters are in the storage room, okay I went there. I searched for twenty minutes and saw nothing, I was softlocked and I really wasn't willing to start another run where I would have potentially bad rng like the run before this one.
Marked One  [author] 22 Oct @ 3:34am
Hello SockPuppet, thank you for that! I'll definitely think about adding a difficulty setting if any new project drops on HPL3.
SockPuppet 22 Oct @ 2:55am
Darkness and no gun at the start wasn't really an issue for me honestly, but if you want to compromise I'd recommend adding difficulty settings for that. Hoping to play more CS in the future!
kev_cat 21 Oct @ 10:06pm

Hello +]3D[+NuclearRodent, thank you for your feedback!
+]3D[+NuclearRodent 20 Oct @ 6:07pm
can't see anything. it's too dark. I mean it's good but janky. The voice acting is really bad.

no gun at the start, too dark, next crappy custom story
kev_cat 20 Oct @ 1:50am
ight ill try tommorow night
Marked One  [author] 20 Oct @ 1:48am
Hello kev_cat! Yes, apparently this is a bug if that really happened. I went through the files and didn't see any conflicts. I would suggest you restart the game.
kev_cat 19 Oct @ 11:28pm
update it happened when i went the other way. to storage. is this a bug?
kev_cat 19 Oct @ 11:26pm
soo i played this and i went to the maintnance room and the earthquak cave-in happened, and i spawned at what i think is the end?

chatastique12 19 Oct @ 6:49am
ITS too hard but ist too cool gg man
Marked One  [author] 17 Oct @ 1:05am
Thank you KenjiTheFriend! I'll also definitely keep the level variety in mind as well.
KenjiTheFriend 16 Oct @ 6:38pm
Very impressive but the level design made it hard to progress. Pretty much every room in the bunker area looked identical.

And thank you for additional Feedback! CHIMERA is considered done for me, I probably wont be updating it anymore. But the feedback I take away from this custom story will help me in the future. Either HPL3 or HPL4. So the feedback is the best I can get!
Marked One  [author] 15 Oct @ 6:02pm
Hello Denny! I could make a tutorial on how I created CHIMERA, but right now I'm on a break after this long journey, so dont expect it to come anytime soon. If there is anything specific you would like to know you can always reach out to me by adding me though!
Denny 15 Oct @ 5:17pm
Btw, you demonstrated some nice modding skills with this mod. I would love to start experimenting modding or creating custom stories like this too. Could you maybe make a video or tutorial on how you made it? Im actually really good at level design (but in RTS games such as wc3, sc2 etc) and would love to start making mods in amnesia too, because its my fav surv horror game and the engine is rteally spooky.
Marked One  [author] 15 Oct @ 2:56pm
Thank you very much for the feedback ValG! I'm glad you liked it! Also, I'll keep that feedback in mind for my future custom projects.
ValG 15 Oct @ 2:07pm
Finished it, one way or another. Let me say that it's nice to see a CS with custom models and mechanics around them.

Pros:
- Interesting and different setting, makes good use of the time spent
- Usage of custom assets
- New mechanics by both yourself and others, overall well implemented
- Storyline for the most part is pretty solid, there is a pretty rich background for such a small-ish environment
- Different endings, nice difficulty

Cons:
- While level design is not the strong suit of the mod, it does the job while providing nothing too visually pleasing, Also outside section has worse quality than the rest.
- The valve/power puzzle is overly confusing
- Vents cannot be reached properly without a climb mechanic (that is leftover from SOMA but with the player body temporarily disabled it can work, I already used it)
- Some assets felt out of place

Giving it a 7.5 for now, I could see myself replay it if it gets updated. Definitely recommended for the unique experience it provides!
Denny 15 Oct @ 7:56am
Marked one, you can definitely polish this game and make changes to the intro. First impressions are always essential if you want people to fully finish the story. I also just recently saw that there are sevearl endings which make me definitely want to replay this in the future.

Make sure that all the assets and level design are of the same quality, try not to import third party assets (like the police cars for example). Create a story that uses purely high level frictional games mods. That will result in good first impression.

Did you play the mod "burial ground"? That custom story rivals the base game in terms quality and level design, and it didnt need voice acting or custom assets.

But yea, I enjoyed your custom story enough for me to deffo replay it again in the future and this time around read all the notes carefully.

But yea, main feedback is, improve or remake the above ground level.
Marked One  [author] 15 Oct @ 3:29am
Hey SockPuppet! I'm glad you liked it. I will keep the level design choice in mind for future projects, thank you!
SockPuppet 15 Oct @ 1:49am
It was pretty fun overall. Surface level was waaaaay too artificial and field-y though. Not even sure if I explored it entirely.
Basement level was alright for me, had a bit of a learning curve but I managed. I actually liked that there was no real safe area... well, except for the lockable room and the control room being a flank path.

Notes were kinda funny. Didn't find out how to explode the boiler but I figured you can do that because of the switch notes. I just knew that once you have power, you can speedrun to get out before the power shuts off again. Will probably come back to try and get the other ending.

Only thing that really bothered me was the AI voice. Missed the times people would voice modded or custom projects themselves or their friends lol
Marked One  [author] 14 Oct @ 3:57pm
Thank you very much for the thorough feedback, Denny! I'll keep that in mind for my future projects.
Denny 14 Oct @ 1:53pm
Okey finished it now after like 3 hours playing.

The atmosphere and vibe of the mod is great, its dark and spooky.

Pros:

Spooky vibe, you feel alone and in a unknown dark place. Feels raw.
Monster behaviour is scary, like in survival mod, he chases you instantly.
Monster is well balanced in terms of "presence". Too much much or too little.
Feels rewarding finally finding a new key item.

Cons.

The "above ground" level is too blocky and un-natural, feels like a minecraft level.

Not enough variation in the level design or ways to properly navigate through the basement level. Takes way too much effort to learn the map,

The switches on the boiler and the notes are too confusing. I read through it quickly and never figured out what the switches do and dont do. All i remember was "if its red its dangerous and can explode".

I wrote a long review but it only allows me 1000 letters. But yea, not bad.
mk23Marshal 13 Oct @ 10:02am
i love it even though i didnt play it
Denny 12 Oct @ 1:47pm
I will try it now!
Marked One  [author] 10 Oct @ 9:37pm
Hey [FA]SSJ3Mewtwo! I'm glad you liked my CS, I appreciate it!
[FA]SSJ3Mewtwo 10 Oct @ 7:24pm
Completed my first playthrough!

This was wonderfully nuanced, but also a little opaque at times.

I never even thought to make sure the light switches were turned on. That's a nice subtle "hah, you thought you were safe" thing to surprise the player with. Nicely done.

Finding the shotgun and lighter were a treat, but I barely used them. I think I only ended up firing the shotgun at The Beast once, and he shrugged it off and still got me.

I gave up on doing anything with the vents. They were too high up to easily get into while not under pressure. And pulling it off while The Beast is coming for you just wasn't happening.

I never figured out what to do with the boiler room, never used the rabbit, and never found anything of signifigance in the poisoned/irradiated part of the bunker. I'm guessing there's a gas/radiation mask in there somewhere?

I got the "bad" ending, I guess. I'm gonna play some more.

Overall, damned nice! Lots of love was put into it and it shows.

yay

Marked One  [author] 10 Oct @ 12:18pm
Thank you, I will likely continue to do that!
Willahelm 10 Oct @ 8:53am
Pls man, make more custom stories, this one is very good tho
[BiO] Rubbs 9 Oct @ 10:49am
Ty! :)
Lolita 8 Oct @ 8:33pm
Sadly I forgot to take a screenshot of it. I'll send you the pictures of the locks a bit later
Marked One  [author] 8 Oct @ 3:28pm
Hello [BiO] Rubbs! Maybe you'll find something near the fence. Good luck!
[BiO] Rubbs 8 Oct @ 12:52pm
I'm probably just being a little stupid here but I'm absolutely lost at the beginning. I've found the broken car and then knocked on the door to the place but can't figure out where to go next
Marked One  [author] 8 Oct @ 11:54am
Hello Lolita, thank you for reporting the problem. Do you maybe have a picture of it? I've never experienced lock clipping. Thank you!
Lolita 8 Oct @ 11:47am
The locks are clipping through the little metal doors to the valves. Reloading my last save helped me first time but it happened again with another door T_T
Marked One  [author] 7 Oct @ 4:55pm
Thank you very much for the thorough feedback, Dante! I will keep that in mind for my future projects. I really appreciate it!
Dante 7 Oct @ 4:47pm
Though i did like it, i do have a couple of nitpicks, the first one being that if possible, after figuring out that you need a pickaxe in order to progress, have the item be highlighted like an usual resource cause i did have trouble finding where it was, even after passing through the room containing it multiple times.
Also i wish the wrench got more use, like important resources, notes, or more ammo to be behind wrench requirement, which also the unlocked vents were kind of hard to get into due to the height of them, doubting if it was worth the trouble since they're optional paths/safe places.

All in all, found it to be a very good experience albeit a bit quirky and i do hope we get more custom campaigns from you! :steamthis::steamthis::steamthis:
Dante 7 Oct @ 4:47pm
I quite liked it, the whole background plot that happens during your confinement, and in the end you actually see and experience the aftermath. That first earthquake is the nuke isn't it. I really dig the radioactive poisoning mechanic you implemented here, makes you pay attention to your surroundings, sometimes making you choose to remain hidden in exchange of building up radiation.
Regarding difficulty, i found it JUST right (and thats a hard thing, so props to you), which might be due to it being tied to the choices you make during the prologue. Also i couldn't open the locker in the boiler control room, don't know how if it can be opened cause didn't find any notes regarding it.
Dante 7 Oct @ 4:42pm
Hey! Idk what was the issue with the previous saves, but definitely got corrupted or something.
On new playthrough, loaded like 5 times and no issues, also played the new ver, the new emergency lights help a lot, thank you! Managed to finish it, took me like solid 3-4h actually, though it may be cause of my playstyle.
Also cause of steam character limit i'll be segmenting feedback in multiple comments.
Marked One  [author] 7 Oct @ 1:25pm
Hello PastelEsp! A new update has been released, the Stalker is less aggressive and there are now generator backup lamps that will help you, even without a flashlight. I hope you like it! :)
PastelEsp 7 Oct @ 1:22pm
Thanks for the response! If you ever do release a difficulty patch my biggest suggestion would just be perhaps modding in a basic light source, like a glowstick or something, it'd be worse than the flashlight but provide at least some light to help with navigation.

Thanks for letting me know the fuel respawns though, I'll finish the mod eventually, I'm really curious where it goes.
