Yes i will eventually add client-side control. Whats there now was a last minute addition to have at least some control and since server cvars were the fastest option i used them
Bonyoze 18 hours ago
Possible to add the convar clientside for toggling it per-player for multiplayer servers? Otherwise it has to be enabled/disabled for everyone.
Now addon is perfect! Thanks you so much

Ingenious, this is a STELLAR addon!
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 8 Oct @ 12:42pm
Okay i found the problem. It will be fixed in the next update
@ricky dicky doo dah grimes

I just checked now, where there were zero addons, only your one addon. While the addon is running in single-player mode, it works perfectly as it should, but if you launch multiplayer, the scaling doesn't work or breaks without errors. You can check it yourself. Just start the game in multiplayer mode, for example, with 8 players, and you will see that the scaling breaks.
There were no errors on my end or on the server, but I expected the add-on to work stably in multiplayer mode.
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 8 Oct @ 12:05pm
Weird it works perfectly fine on my end. Did you get any errors? Maybe try disabling every other addon and leaving only mine enabled

man...that sucks, i really like spawning item using the F1 but now i cant closed it again if i pressed the F1 button again. if i remember a couple days ago im able to do it but for some reason after couples of day i can't (my theory is maybe because one of your updates), i guess this "bug" stays forever :(

or atleast until someone found the issue & fix it wich is i hope for you

Strange +menu and -menu binds are allowed so im not sure why its not working
hyperthrandulion 8 Oct @ 7:53am
@ricky dicky doo dah grimes. its still the same, i can't close the spawnmenu after i clicked the props that i spawn if im using F1 to open it. this is one of the patch that you give in 7 october: "during placement all custom binds will now be disabled" im not sure but i think because of this it happen. please fix it man i really like the addon but this is need to be fixed :steamsad:
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 8 Oct @ 5:55am
@hyperthrandulion check now if it works
hyperthrandulion 8 Oct @ 2:28am
I have a problem where i press F1 to open the spawn menu (so that i dont need to hold Q), but when i spawn an object or anything i can't press the F1 button anymore to closed the spawn menu, unless i press Q but it makes the prop being cancelled, and also escape but i must press it again to unpause it. please fix it or maybe at a way to dissable this

(I think the 7 october update causes this to happen)

@ricky dicky doo dah grimes

You are the best addon creator! Thank you so much.

finally, actually good gmod prop placement
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 7 Oct @ 5:23pm
I have the new scaling system almost ready. It should work pretty much exactly like in the mod you provided. The only thing left to do is fix the render bounds since those still dont work
@ricky dicky doo dah grimes

Well, from the video, it's clear that I made a mistake and linked to the wrong add-on. I have a completely different add-on, and I admit my mistake. I quickly found the add-on by the tag “size” and mistakenly thought it was the right add-on, but it's not.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong tool, and I think this one will be the right one, since I added it to my favorites, and the one I gave you earlier is not in my favorites, and that's my fault.

Here is a comparison of my addon vs the tool you linked: https://youtu.be/Cc3nGPcuf1o
The add-on for the tool that I linked to worked perfectly in my opinion; it changed not only the visuals but also the model itself. Perhaps through some kind of workaround, I don't know, I didn't look into the code, but it was possible to make any prop much longer, wider, or taller, and the model would also change, and the collisions and even the hitboxes would remain the same. If you are sure that your add-on is better, then I will believe you.
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 7 Oct @ 11:39am
It doesnt just change visually. Like I said larger props will still collide correctly with each other and with the player. Theres no way to scale hitboxes or at least I havent found one. Also I checked the other addon and somehow it works even worse than mine so maybe the author is using bone scaling instead of SetModelScale which is what I used at first. But that method only scales the prop visually like you said
Well, to be honest, I'm not entirely happy with that. Is there somewhere I can disable this feature? I don't understand why it's needed if the prop only changes the size visually anyway? I'd rather use the tool then.
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 7 Oct @ 11:22am
The model will work as before when scaled up or down but this time collisions between objects should also work properly. The only issue as I mentioned earlier is when placing props onto it using my placement system and since the hitboxes dont scale correctly you will be able to shoot through some parts of the prop
@ricky dicky doo dah grimes

Well, now I understand, so thank you for the explanation. But will your code work well? I mean, if I make the prop bigger/smaller, will the model itself increase/decrease in size, or will the visual increase in size while the model itself remains the same, or will the model also become bigger/smaller with the update? It's just that sometimes for some poses or something like that, it would be very convenient.
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 7 Oct @ 11:06am
I didnt even check the code but Im 98% sure the other addon uses ent:SetModelScale() mostly because the author said in the description that it works the same as the 'biggify' option and thats literally taken straight from the gmod wiki. Then again hitboxes and collision bounds are not the same thing. Collision bounds define where objects start interacting with each other so you dont end up walking inside a prop. Hitboxes on the other hand are mostly used for traces like bullet detection or in my case placement detection. Thats why when you try to place something on a scaled object it usually appears slightly inside it
@ricky dicky doo dah grimes

Well, I just think that it would be possible to borrow some of the code from the tool I linked to. It has similar mechanics, and the hitboxes remain the same as in the original item and prop. I just played around with this tool, checked every prop, and changed the sizes from large to small using the tool, and there were no problems.
ricky dicky doo dah grimes  [author] 7 Oct @ 10:24am
I changed it but keep in mind that even though this method scales the collision bounds it still has problems with hitboxes
@ricky dicky doo dah grimes

Hello, it's me again.

I noticed a new feature you added called Scaling. It's a cool feature, but it only changes the prop's appearance, while its model remains the same. Could you please make it so that not only the prop's visual scaling changes, but also its physical model? I can even show you a tool that changes the size of the prop and its physical model, making it bigger or smaller, and that tool is called the “Size tool.” Can you make please? Your addon is the best, and I would like to help improve it, but without going overboard.
