I believe in the original No More Room in Hell, Gene Therapy actually makes you entirely immune to infection until you die if I remember correctly. Of course, zombies can still bite you regardless, which deals a decent chunk of damage and can cause bleeding at times.

@ched salvia yes it does gives you immunity to the infection for the rest of the game, i think you're mixing it with the pills that staves off the infection for 3 minutes

i think in nmrih, u get immunity for the rest of the match and wont get reinfected, but im not totally sure. those things are extremely rare.
