That's not really true because there's a lot more to TF2's design beyond the class colors that includes colors, weapons, silhouettes and animations. The idea is if one isnt as clear the others reinforce it which is why TF2 can have darker areas of maps or if you're against a medic with the watchmann's wetsuit you still know its a medic.

they made a presentation and paper on it called illustrative rendering in Team Fortress 2 back in 2007 which is a pretty interesting read, but we will also be making a regular white coat as a style as it has been requested a few times.

It's an okay cosmetic, just one thing: It changes medic's colors too much from the front and would make it hard for players to tell who they are fighting against. I'd suggest making the cloak the same color as his regular coat

Dude turning the rest of his coat into a CAPE?? You're a goddamn genius.

beautiful, valve please add for scream fortress or winter 2025

Hurts character readability from the front.

Also, the cosmetics that recolour areas of Medic’s lab coat to be that of his pants are usually more conservative about it, with the vast majority of them at least preserving his sleeves as white.

@Pie_Savvy I can see where you're coming from with this, but it doesn't really change the fact that Medic's primary expected colour is and always has been white. This doesn't impact team or class recognition in any way, but it does look quite strange, just as it looks strange when Heavy's predominantly black colour scheme is made entirely team-coloured for certain cosmetics.

looks like medic to me
Shester_Waltz 69 19 Aug @ 12:03pm
This doesn't look like medic anymore

@Pie_Savvy okay, yeah, it came to be quite a trend to break Medic's original color scheme, because it really was a thing in 2014-15, when we got nice selection of dark vests and even vibrant Medical Monarch, and from 2022 it back with more than half of body cosmetics drastically changing palette. And to be fair, those looking nice, so... You convinced me.

The coat is the medic's pants colors which a few ingame medic shirt/coat cosmetics already do so I wouldn't say its an issue.

But if I get time I will see about a style with the regular lab coat colors.

Honestly quite a cool concept, but in practice it looks a little weird when virtually all of Medic's default colours are replaced with something else. I think if the coat itself was white/pastel blue and only the linings were darker colours, it would look a lot more natural.

I think it’s removing too much white from Medic's body, but the idea is there. This could have been a good cosmetic.

This looks really really good. I would love to see it in the game
Mevlüt 18 Aug @ 3:01pm
it would be cool if there is a version where clothes was white too
Ted Beneke 18 Aug @ 12:55pm
Pie the way you turned the coat into a cape is so fucking genius

I genuinely jizz over the screen only by looking at this item. God Bless you

I agree with Jas-c, a labcoat colored style would be great!
TwoTonMoon 18 Aug @ 9:22am
Recontextualizing Medic's lower labcoat into a cape is cool as hell
JAS-C 18 Aug @ 9:10am
Interesting idea... But it surely big change compared to his original palette. I mean, even at other controversial color-wise cosmetics volumes were close to original, and here we got suddenly entire new shade for Medic.
It awesome looking, but I'm in doubt. Alt light version would be nice, I can tell for sure - at least to see, how this design stands in paler form.

Would absolutely love a full white style
