honestly yeah I feel like the beta antlions fit the environment you find them in a lot better than the retail one does

i always wondered why they looked so tropical and colorful when they're pretty much only found on sandy shores where tan or grey shells would help them blend in better

Almost slightly :] There's a lot more detail added to the texture and even a normal map that amplifies and shows them off more! I also noticed that the abdomen actually has way more detail to it than the retail one does

I'm assuming you mean animations, yes! Model replacements and other reskins aren't compatible but animations are!

I'm not entirely sure about sure so take this with a grain of salt, but I think some addons & mods have already used these textures, like the HQ HL2 Textures Addon by Niko and the Vanilla++ Antlions mod just from the top of my head
