i equiped the fish
fish crashed my game
lucky me it was not my old save
Which game mode are you using my mod with? Survival, Sandbox, or Challenge?
Survival: Uses the default sandbox settings — sandbox-options.txt
Sandbox: Uses either the default or user-customized sandbox settings — sandbox-options.txt
Challenge: Only uses the mod’s default values, regardless of sandbox settings — ZomboidDropMore_setting.lua
In my own testing with version B42, the official drop rates vary significantly depending on the mode, and they clearly drop a lot more items compared to version B41.
Maybe you can try adjusting the drop rates as I mentioned earlier, then test it again.
At the very least, when I set the value to 1, out of 100 zombies, about 2 to 3 are triggered by my mod. The rest of the time, the item drops are handled by the default B42 system.
In DEBUG mode, I can check whether my mod has been triggered, so I can clearly tell that even without using the mod, the zombie drop rate in B42 is noticeably higher than in B41.
thenks!!
Marc already mentioned that it’s a challenge mode in Project Zomboid paying tribute to Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead.
As for the bug you mentioned that occurs when restarting the game, if possible, please try disabling all other mods and only enable mine. Then, start a new game and try repeating what you did to see if the issue still occurs—because I really haven’t been able to reproduce it.
I spent some time killing 100 zombies in each mode of version B42 and reloading the save, but I just couldn’t reproduce the situation you mentioned where zombies would have new items on them after reloading.
As for the sandbox settings not working in Challenge Mode. I apologize—that was my mistake. The file you should be modifying is:
ZomboidDropMore B42\42\media\lua\server\ZomboidDropMore_setting.lua
There, you can check the config section for values like "or 30 or 20", and change them to whatever numbers you want. Challenge Mode disables all custom sandbox settings and instead uses the default values defined here.
Finally, I noticed that in the B42 version of CDDA, zombies seem to have become wealthier — many of them carry wallets and watches, and I’ve also been encountering more zombies with backpacks.
Can you tell me how you set it up? I can't reproduce the issue you describe, and if I can't, I don't know what to do.
Hardcore version? Isn't it just the hardcore version if don't install it? The stock CDDA version has a chance of dropping something other than clothing in about 1 out of 1,000. XDDD Or is it different with the B42 version?!
in which there will be a chance of one ramdom item dropping per three hundred zombies, I think such a mod will be a hit

Normally, you can set these settings in the sandbox, but if you're playing Challenge Mode, you'll need to modify the defaults in this file.
For me playing CDDA, my current settings are pretty good. Even when killing zombies with guns, ammo is still extremely low, so I'll mostly revert to using melee attacks. There are definitely more guns, but this is beside the point. Kentucky is the state with the most guns in the US. I originally wanted everyone there to have a gun, but that's unrealistic, and there probably weren't that many guns in 1993.
There are a lot of weird internal mechanisms in the B42 version. After all, the official information is not transparent. I don't want to spend a lot of time to understand the mechanism that the official will change again, so for now, just ignore the situation where it keeps dropping. You can adjust the probability to the lowest and see. When I did a simple test of the B42 version myself, the setting was effective.
The chance can be changed in the Sandbox settings. If you're in Challenge Mode, you can simply go to the mod folder and adjust the default chance in the settings file to your desired value, then restart the game.
If you prefer a lower chance, you can set all the values to 1. After all, this mod is designed to prevent zombies from dropping items. If you want a lower chance of 0.0001, there's really no need to install it, hahahaha.
i had a couple potential bugs:
Zombies occasionally keep dropping 2 of something instead of 1(Guns, sledgehammers, etc.)
I think some of the settings might be off? it seemed zombies had guns far too often for the 5% chance i gave them in the settings.
Yes, I originally wanted to keep B42 and B41 together, but that would be too much of a hassle for me to upload since I don't play B42 much and it has too many bugs.
So I split them up so I don't have to keep reinstalling versions unless necessary, which really annoys me, hahaha.
