Shinji's core character is defined by extreme vulnerability, fear, and reluctance. A creator might think depicting a genderswapped version in minimal clothing visually amplifies that vulnerability.

My question is simple: Why is it that they have the genderswapped Shinji Ikari (With the serial number filed off) wearing so LITTLE into combat? I mean, couldn't they at least have a plugsuit (If not full power armor akin to Samus)? And no, Because Sex Appeal doesn't count.
