yeah its a little finicky at first but it becomes a bit of muscle memory after a while.

Right, I think I've figured it out. Instead of '/drop' my current weapon to pick up another one. I just swap with a new one and then take back my current gun.

That seems to work.

og npack has no issues with dropping guns and storing away ammo. it's not an exploit, waltz. its a crucial part of gameplay :leaCheese:

good catch

if you pick up a new weapon that has never been touched, the reserve ammo is set to a random value. this part is impossible to change since its how valve coded the game (ty volvo)

to make it work with the random reserve ammo mechanic, both weapons will need to have been picked up at least once for their ammo to have been set, then you can do the ammo swap thing like normal

tbh ammo swapping is more of an exploit than anything, and now that there's actual consequences if you mess it up, i'll leave it out of the description for people to discover organically

"Whenever you drop your primary weapon your character will store away its ammo type.
If you have an empty SPAS, and you stumble over a pump shotty - you can take its ammo.
You can essentially stack on certain ammo, and then refill other players by swapping guns."

Doesn't work as intended, had an smg with 230, dropped it, picked up another smg - all '230' ammo gone and had '143' instead.

I guess my pockets have holes or something idk. I lost all my ammunition.

@DonBlotto you were never supposed to start with Pistols. You are supposed to only start with flashlights and then whatever weapons are available. My friends and I completed the original modpack on hardest difficulty and I can only recommend you try the same, it is truly a Nightmarish experience.

Also, thanks to Waltz and Yoru for the modpacks and also not thanks because now my friends are going to drag me through the hell that is The Passing once again, going to be good!

@DonBlotto just remove every single Nightmare redux script and mod and also remove team psykskallar aesthetics, this should fix pistols not spawning and annoying crap like dark skyboxes

@Waltz ok, so basically the pistols were a glitch? it was just weird that they were there one day and gone the next so i thought i did something to mess it up. but thanks, @kateeni from seeing Waltz' comment, if its supposed to be hardcore like that, i guess i will try to look past that i only have a shitty flashlight at start. but if it gets too tedious, i might try to remove some things. i've only been able to get to the 2nd level of no mercy lmaoo, its enjoyable since its like a whole new experience from og left 4 dead. starting with no pistols is brutal but understandable since it only takes 2 shots to kill a normal zombie really.

@donblotto that's the redux scripts mod that includes all of the balance changes, and a ton of other stuff essential to redux's experience. the flashlight is supposed to be part of the intended experience, as you are meant to find pistols in the world as they're generally better than melee weapons.

@donblotto i just got rid off the rest of the mods (like when it gives u an option when you install the mod) i had knowing that i had them saved so maybe try that?

@yoru reinstalled and pistols still wont spawn 😭, it spawns us with flashlights, but say we get knocked, we can use a pistol. when someone picks you up, it disappears again. is there any mods from the collection that can be getting in the way for this?

For some reason the crosshair is only removed for the host?

In our game everyone but the host has crosshairs as normal. Any fix?

so im having an issue, i just got this collection yesterday and am enjoying it, despite how hard it is. but for some reason, i get on today and the starting pistols arent spawning anymore, so now im running through the map with melee on nightmare difficulty.. is there anything that could have changed? it seems that pistols only spawn on non local hosted servers and i cant find anything in the console. i verified files and still nothing.
I love it when steam gives me a notification even though the author didn't even reply to me lol

It's a'ight, I guess - I mean I like the new healing system and regenerating health, RNG ammo reserve is cool too. Hunter hanging from ceilings is a bit buggy and sometimes ends up with the hunter entity being removed *but* the model of the hunter stays on the ceiling.
Smoker looks like a pack of sticks I tried to light up the other day when I was camping and the tank is... it humbled me - for like the first time ever. It's way too fast!!!!1111

after testing the changes between redux and the original in tumtara and going in alone on campaigns (in which is not recommended), I enjoy the changes that redux has in store. a singular con I have to share about the modpack is the same with what I have with the original version of nightmare, and that is the replacement noises for the common infected. while I do think they're a good choice for the modpack, it just doesn't feel they're executed correctly since they blend in with some of the sound effects used for the special infected, making it hard to differentiate what's going to strike next. this ended up with me having to choose between the old common infected sounds originally made for the modpack or the last of us common infected sounds. I decided to stick with the latter and go with those. personally I feel like they fit more than they do than the ones used for the mod.

TL;DR: good modpack, better than the original version. common infected sounds just ain't it chief.
