Thanks! and I'll think about adding some more units to them next time I work on this. I didn't want to overuse Ogre mercenaries, so I like your idea of mixing in hobgoblins, too.

Just played a brief rebel campaign, very fun and nicely different from loyalist Cathayan factions. Perhaps they could get a couple heavier Ogre units (like leadbelchers or even a stonehorn) or maybe Hobgoblins as mercenaries, to give them a little more late game punching power and more options in the early game?

I generally try to avoid new units, but I removed a lot of units from rebels and I felt they needed something different to stand out from loyalists.

Are you worried about balance or compatibility? I tried to keep them close to vanilla units for balance. Not much I can do about compatibility though without submods unfortunately.

Man this would be neat without adding new units

That's something I to do more often, and I'll look for more opportunities as I go back and make changes. In my WIP Dark Elf mod, every unit has a landmark or rare resource that you can recruit it at if you can't recruit it normally. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you! I agree it would be kinda weird for them to have the Wuxing War Compass, but the idea of having it as a pinnacle unit you strive for all campaign to get access to tickled me a bit too much to not go for it, especially since normally you don't want it too much.
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 9 Jul @ 1:24pm
I have RPFM open and there is not a landmark like that. I'll make it so you can recruit the Compass from The Grand Observatory next update.
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 9 Jul @ 1:17pm
Yes, theoretically they can still recruit it from a landmark, but they can't recruit it normally. I haven't checked if there are any landmarks that let you recruit them though.

I'm not sure whether the Compass fits in with the rest of the rebel roster. I think the War Drum is a nice thematic addition to a peasant heavy army. The Compass feels like a rare artifact that the rebels might steel (by capturing a city with the right landmark).

That's just my gut reaction, I could change my mind on it. I'll also check later and add it to and landmark if it can't be recruited from one already.

The rebels have no access to the Wuxing War Compass, only the War Drum, at least playing as the Silver Road Bandits in The Old World.

Yes and no. I don't think there would be any hard conflicts, but the new units probably need a patch to be balanced for SFO. If anyone wants to make a patch, you have my permission, but I don't plan on making one myself.
Irradiated_Haggis 7 Jul @ 12:25pm
Is this compatible with SFO? I'm assuming it's NOT Radious compatible.

Thanks! I want to make every faction a little bit unique and then you can add LLs on top of my mods to make certain factions stand out even more. I haven't tried multiplayer, but these mods are pretty simple, so it should work fine. That's one advantage of not knowing how to do complex scripts :)
Leonardo 6 Jul @ 10:48am
hi Fizzle_Boom25, very interesting what you're doing here, I have modded my game with custom LLords alot to deal with the samey-ness but what you're doing sounds much better than managing 100+ mod list, and possibly be good for multiplayer too. Look forward to your AIO pack.
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 6 Jul @ 8:23am
I'll look into it once I finish all of my planned sub-faction mods. I don't want to have to keep updating the AIO every time I release a new mod.
ZhangJao 6 Jul @ 7:43am
Can you create a all in one mod for this?
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 5 Jul @ 1:51pm
Thank you and let me know if you have any suggestion. These mods are constantly evolving.

I have only just now discovered your group of mods and just wanted to say "Wow!" these look great! Thanks for your work on these, Fizzle_Boom25!

I only see VC building for the Jade Sea Pirates which is a faction added by Roar of the Jade Sea and I don't touch them. Let me know if you see any other factions with VC buildings.

I'm slowly learning how to do new units and I do want to come back and add more higher tier bandits as I gain more experience. Right now, I can only do kitbashes of existing units and all of the units I made for this mod use assets from the Bandits of the Silver Road RoR. I either need to wait for CA to add more assets for me to work with or I need to learn to make my own.
Phukface 4 Jul @ 6:37pm
So I've noticed that this and Jade sea pirates do work together and the ai will recruit the units added by both, but also the rebel cathay lords seem to get the pirate/VC buildings oddly. Also, from playing the sea pirates I feel like some rogue ronin or some kind of higher tier bandit unit/units would be an awesome addition to this :)
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 4 Jul @ 1:31pm
A simple update for Nippon: they can't recruit any constructs and Astromancer was moved to the Celestial Barracks. They also can recruit bandits (pirates) from any port.
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 4 Jul @ 9:29am
@Chinag Good idea! I'll put something together for them when I have a chance.

@Phukface Let me know how it works with Jade Pirates. I haven't used that mod before, so I'm not sure if I need to do anything to make it compatible.
Chinag 4 Jul @ 5:42am
Also regarding what to do with bonuses: Could make them bandits lite but with more naval and sacking bonuses.
Chinag 4 Jul @ 5:40am
I think it's fine to make subfactions of anticipated factions as a lowstake alternative. I know there's a Nippon mod out rn but its hella crashy.
Phukface 3 Jul @ 5:45pm
Love the mod m8! I look forward to using this with the jade pirates mod :winter2019happydog:
Fizzle_Boom25  [author] 3 Jul @ 4:36pm
I did consider it, but I wasn't sure what to do with them. I know there's a Nippon faction mod in the works that will do a much better job than anything I could do for them.

I can take another look at them, though. Maybe I'll make them a hybrid of the rebel and minor loyalist sub-factions.
Chinag 3 Jul @ 3:07pm
Have you considered adding support for IEE? There's minor Cathay factions in Not-Korea and Nippon which would be interesting starting areas.
