yeah, i need to update a bunch of the localisation & unlock stuff to fit the 1.2.4 update. it's been a crazy busy month so far and they're fairly low priority as you say, so i haven't got around to it. similarly they added a bunch of new icons that appear in ability descriptions and tooltips etc which i need to implement.
much broader selections of unlocks were also added in that update, and any ideas for strategy-inspired unlocks are v welcome. himiko ireland and ben franklin ireland are definites for strategic complementarities. perhaps also confucius scotland. sikh empire possibly catherine the great for the great work synergy...

INCREDIBLY minor thing but Ada's hover text is broken on the Civ select screen for this and your Ireland, it says the 'LOC_UNLOCK_PLAY_AS_ADA' string instead of whatever it should be. Some other little stuff that's come in updates since this released are loading screen tips (again, not essential at all, just leaves a blank box on load) and Leaders automatically unlocking all their strategic choices, not just ones the ones they actually ruled / lived in. Some of these are weird and heinous (Pachacuti unlocking Nepal, Ada unlocking Abbasids) but I think some would make a lot of sense to implement here - like Ben Franklin unlocking Scotland / Ireland as he does Normandy or Great Britain. The more out-there ones are better left to your discretion though (like Himiko Ireland)

hey! when does it crash? during a game, between turns? or when starting a game? what other mods do you have active? which dlcs do you have? does it freeze or does it crash to desktop? is there an error message?

I like this mod a lot, but the game keeps crashing while I have it activated
mattwho  [author] 24 Aug @ 5:46am
thanks! could i see a list of other mods you're running? it's likely to be a mod issue, as i haven't found any issues caused by the update for this mod.

I'm getting crashes after the Wonders update whilst playing as Scotland. Not sure if it's the update or a problem with other mods. Love the civ!

another incompatibility i've found is enduring empires - i don't think any of my civ mods will be compatible with it, and nor is owain glyndwr.

@HowMuhKevinNah

I'm playing it right now, it's working fine. Matt's & Rogue's Civs that I have subscribed are all good. The problem seems to be with Izzy's Macedonia & Scythia, which are only up on civfanatics, not steam. I'm playing on online speed so aren't getting past about 50 turns = no crash problem.

This mod is preventing Exploration Age from starting. I keep getting "Gameplay database failed validation! See Database.log for details."

are you activating them on universities?
mallee78 16 Jul @ 2:17pm
great people are not giving relics
Proleg 8 Jul @ 1:18pm
Great civ, but the game starts to crash after playing ~60 turns with them
Lunatic 50013 24 Jun @ 7:37pm
It gets unstable and while I get through the exploration age as Scotland it crashes
Lunatic 50013 24 Jun @ 7:36pm
Playing normally. It hasn't crashed in the menu
mattwho  [author] 24 Jun @ 12:51pm
what are you doing when it crashes?
Lunatic 50013 24 Jun @ 11:35am
I also notice it tends to crash a lot, my other mods are Ireland Civ, Players Combat Power, Anno Domini Ca lender, Purchasable attribute points, Izicas Dev panel, and Global Relations panel. However, I disabled the dev panel and the global relations panel.

that'd be a fundamentally different design and not really the intention with scotland.

the intent is to represent scotland's freedom of religion and moral philosophy by replacing the proselytism of spreading religion with an internal development of great treatises which provide bonuses instead.

not being able to benefit from religious beliefs is also part of scotland's power budget, so other parts of the civ would have to be weaker to make up for it.

What I'm thinking is you make the Humanist function like the Logios from Greece, it activates on a tile and gives additional yield to a building instead of giving a relic.
Rantabella 23 Jun @ 5:25pm
William Wallace would be a cool leader for this
mattwho  [author] 23 Jun @ 3:03pm
the humanist is a great person which replaces the missionary because it essentially replaces the religion victory path.

they create 'relics' in the form of great works of philosophy, which contribute to the culture victory path.

if this was as well as being able to obtain relics with missionaries, it would be too much, i think.
Lunatic 50013 23 Jun @ 2:56pm
Can you change the humanist to a great person? I like to have missionaries.
mattwho  [author] 23 Jun @ 2:16pm
hi, lada! are you running this with any other mods? there could be compatibility issues causing the crash. if i can know the other mods, i can run some checks and add some compatibility notes.

also, did it crash on the loading screen or during gameplay? if during gameplay, did it still crash when re-loading?
LADA IV 23 Jun @ 2:04pm
this look like good but the mod crash
joueur_3030 23 Jun @ 1:55pm
Seems a really good mod, will try it asap
