About adding more Fallout factions, the Brotherhood of Steel, the Legion, and all of the Fallout 4 factions will not be included in the final conversion (they wouldn’t fit the lore). However, their aesthetics can and will be used. I plan to create some custom game starts (like “Legion Deserter,” “BoS Recon Squad,” and similar) where I can include the armor and tech from those factions for the player to use.
Factions I do want to bring into the mod:
The Enclave
A Minutemen-like faction
The Shi (Fallout 2)
Hubologists
Children of Atom
Some Vaults
In addition to these, I’ll create a few original factions from scratch, using Fallout-style aesthetics.
The problem is, I don’t know how to create the sound bank itself (I can handle redirecting and assigning it to animations). The existing sound banks out there mostly cover regular firearms, which work great for things like the Service Rifle, Assault Rifle, and similar weapons… but there’s nothing suitable for energy weapons.
So maybe I’ll just accept this as a limitation for now and focus on ballistic guns as a starting point.
As for importing, if you don't care about the new items (cowboy outfit and gloves), you shouldn't need to import.
The next step is another mod to add the guns. Sound is the biggest challenge in this part, I can use some other mods that add gun sound effects, but they come with a lot of problems, and none that I’ve found include laser guns. So I’ll have to learn how to make a sound bank for Kenshi.
After that, there’s the clothing for the other factions… and then I’ll work on world items. I’ll try to keep updates posted on Patreon.
The time line Will depend on my free time, o want to add some more things to this before starting on the guns
Maybe even eventually an entire pack of weapons from new Vegas, as I feel like the weapons for games later than NV wouldn’t fit.
However, since this will be a set of modular mods that can be used independently, there's nothing stopping the Legion from being added. There are already mods that bring them into Kenshi, and I could integrate them in the future.
Then, I’ll have another set of mods focused on factions like “NCR Expeditionary Force,” “Knights of Avalon,” “Desert Tribes,” etc.
And finally, a mod for item distribution and another one for world states.
I’ve started modeling the power armors, but they’re one of the most complicated parts for me. I want to keep them somewhat modular (boots, pants, torso, and helmet), make them heavy, and have the player feel like a walking tank when using them.
The idea is to create an item for the shirt slot (the power armor frame) without it, the armor can still be worn, but the weight would severely reduce mobility. That said, modeling all of this might take longer than I’d like.
So the next update (if all goes well) will include more glove variations and at least one new outfit, this time more civilian-themed, with a cowboy hat, vest, pants, and boots, along with some stat adjustments.
I also created a Patreon for the project, i plan to post ideas and updates there (the mod will always be free, and the Patreon posts won’t be paywalled).
The goal isn’t to charge for the mod, but if anyone wants to donate a little something for coffee, I’d really appreciate it.
